Dear DessignThemes developers,

please make One-Blog’s functions.php functions fully pluggable to allow overriding any of them when needed for safe customization via child theme (i.e. one-blog-child).

It doesn’t take too much time to enclose each function in functions.php within an “if ( ! function_exists() )” block, e.g.:

if ( ! function_exists( 'some_function' ) ) {
    some_function( $params ) {
        // Do something.
    }
}

I’m not actually asking for help because I already managed to successfully solve the issue making one_blog_theme_imports() pluggable (as shown above) in order to override it with a customized version in my one-blog-child. Unfortunately it’s been necessary to make slight changes in the main One-Blog theme’s functions.php (WordPress prepends the child theme’s version of functions.php to the main theme’s one, hence if the main theme’s functions are pluggable they can be safely overridden; otherwise an error is issued because it’s not allowed to declare the same function twice). Now the big problem is that if you don’t provide a functions.php file with pluggable functions (see example above) ASAP my workaround will get lost on the next One-Blog update!

I kinda love One-Blog basically because it’s customizable in a straightforward way (though the functions’ API could be better documented and the coding style could be more coherent) but since I’m not using it for a blog I needed to add a second menu to the sidebar. It’s not been too difficult to add the necessary code to the child theme (now a second menu is fully configurable through the standard Appearance -> Menus interface) but I had to enqueue a customized script.js because I needed such brand new menu to be displayed by slicknav (for mobile devices) instead of the standard .head-nav one.

If you won’t provide a functions.php file with pluggable functions I’ll have to fork One-Blog (according to the terms and conditions of the GNU/GPL v3 License) because chances are that applying the next One-Blog update my customer will end up getting a broken website.

If you contact me I’ll be glad to provide you with a fully pluggable function.php. It’s a drop-in replacement fitting the current version of the One-Blog theme — it works seamlessly since each function is intact though being pluggable.

If you wanna change the theme, you get a ‘error’ page with the text ‘ratings area’ with a dropdown menu. The drop down menu doesn’t work.

Watched the video – read comments here – still no slider. Is this Theme just broken for good?

I set up my blog website, but I don’t see anywhere a user can register to log in. Can you point me how to set up this function?

When I build each page, such as Home page, the title HOME appears on the page first. How can I make it disappear?

I would like to remove the “Email Subscription” widget from my sidebar and move it to my navigation bar so users still have the option of utilizing the RSS feed. I don’t know if I just copy + paste the RSS link and that will do it or if there’s a code I should place in the navigation bar instead so people can still sign up. (For what it’s worth, I don’t use RSS feeds on blogs so this is foreign territory to me. I just know people use this feature and would like to keep it up for them without the bulky sidebar widget!)

I have the latest theme version installed here: https://laurabucur.ro.
Also, the latest WP version.

I have two issues:

a. The homepage does NOT display the pagination.
Here is what it builds:

I am using a page that has the Homepage template selected, and it is set in the Customizer as a Static page for the homepage.
On the Blog page it does show up, so I do not really understand why this is happening.
b. I tried to fix this issue by adding a temporary button to “more posts” – you can see it as a big pink button on the home. But as this is a change to the theme files, I tried adding a Child theme, but if I activate it the Slider will no longer work.

So basically all of my work on your beautiful theme is for nothing, because it is unusable.

Can you please help with this?

In the theme you can use several social feeds, I’m looking for an e-mail option next to the other social feedsin the for mailto:[email protected]. just a simple envelope/mail icon will be fine.

Hi! One of the main reasons I went for this theme is because of the slider. I basically love everything about my blog right now and I don’t want to make another home page just for the slider to show up. How can I resolve this please? I’m a newbie btw.

Hi there,

Can I change the color of the menu bar and section headings? They are currently black. I’d also like the text to left justify, right now all the posts are centered.

I created a home page and changed the template from Default to Homepage.
I then selected it to be the static front.
I created four posts, with featured images, and selected them all to be in the slider.
I also selected the slider to be shown in the Customize section.
When visiting my page, I only get the sidebar.

Am I missing a step?

I just installed this theme. I don’t know how to build a website, but I am figuring it out along the way. The slider bar thing that is supposed to have pictures is not showing?
