This theme is not updated for a long time and is it compatible with Elementor?
I know this was discussed in a previous topic but I’m having issues with the provided solution. I follow the idea of that topic (I have a child theme already created), and after copying the file to the child theme and editing it, I was still unable to make the date appear at the top of the post.
Longform have the file template-tags.php saved in a sub folder inc. So, I recreated the same structure in my child theme and saved template-tags.php into it.
I then followed the instruction to locate the text: // Set up and print post meta information which stated to replace the line below with this code:
printf( '' . date('d-m-Y', strtotime($post->post_date)) .' / BY %5$s',
But it doesn’t appear to have worked. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Hi, I’ve been adapting my site and can’t still understnd how parallax works with images. While images in posts like
are ok
https://cliccultural.com/espacios/patiodevuelta/
images in
https://cliccultural.com/festival/pueblo-calle/ keep showing up reduced and distorted. How should I solve that issue? What’s the ideal photo lenght? THanks
Instead of the tag line, which uses default font, I would like to place an image, a logo in the place. How can I do that?
I love the theme very much, but it turned out the design doesn’t imply dates to the entries (or maybe, I can’t find them?). Is there any way to insert dates? Maybe with some plugin?
Thanks a lot!
Using, or trying to use, the Longform theme at: https://www.talesfromthedorkside.com .
I’m still in the midst of setting things up but had this issue occur with another theme as well.
What’s happening: The comment UI is missing from display when the blog page is called up. Comments and pings are checked ‘on’ with posts and enabled in the theme.
I discovered my ‘missing’ comments ARE there only after going to WP Dashboard, then posting a comment while still editing a ‘test post’. This comment was posted BEFORE publishing that edited test post.
By doing that the test comment (made from the WordPress DASHBOARD) called up a different URL which shows that author’s post AND comments AND the UI… but the post URL is in the main directory and contains ONLY this post (there are two other authors – same issue: no comments or comment fields): https://talesfromthedorkside.com/test-post-title/
After finding that the comments at least do exist… I tried posting a comment from that particular webpage and had no problems doing so.
https://talesfromthedorkside.com/test-post-title/#comment-51 shows the 1st comment and a follow up comment made from the webpage URL shown above. I was also able to edit the second comment directly and repost the edited comment with no issues.
NONE OF THIS shows on the actual /blog page… only the posts themselves from all three authors without any comments or UI: https://talesfromthedorkside.com/blog
Looks like the default blog page isn’t picking up where the comments are stored for any of the authors (or that location is ‘broken’) but the comments ARE there in WP… somewhere.
NOTES: The comment UI was visible and functional when the theme was first installed and prior to the automagic updates from WP but I also updated a few plug ins along the way so cannot directly link to any one update as a cause.
I disabled ALL plug-ins, cleared the cache and checked using two pc’s running two different browsers with no success.
I have also tried using POWr and Comment Form Builder (comment) plug-ins as a ‘work-around’ without success.
Summary: Comments only work when URL shows to be from site’s main/www directory instead of the ” https://talesfromthedorkside.com/blog ” directory. Actual blog page does not pick up comment UI or posted comments.
I appreciate any help. I am not a coding wizard… but reasonably capable if you make it simple.
I set the number of posts to be shown in the grid in my homepage stories.mobilereporter.info. However, on top of the main grid with 9 posts there is another grid with 6 posts that I want to get rid of.I do not know why is there. I would be grateful if you could help me!
Great theme. However it does not fully function with WP 4.7.3. Some options are missing in the customization settings, for example the featured content settings. Also the homepage grid does not work. In my case only one post gets displayed in my homepage grid even though I added the tag “featured” to other two posts. Hi,
I love Longform, I’m currently using it for two projects and I’m considering purchasing it but I noticed today that the header disappears when viewing individual blog posts on the iPad. This means that the menu button is not accessible from a blog post and you can’t return to the home page easily. (I’m not currently using a sidebar in my layout, though I intend to add one soon.) Is the missing header menu and header branding a deliberate design element for tablets or a bug? Everything else looks fantastic on the iPad (Safari was the browser).
One the PC (Windows 10, Chrome and Firefox) I’ve also noticed that when you refresh a webpage in the browser (any page, blog or ‘page’), the header also disappears when viewing the website either a page or blog post.
The url is https://tinadubinsky.com. (My other project is currently in maintenance mode while I complete it).
cheers

Hello
How to set stretched fixed background for each page??
I try to customize on CSS but not working.
Thanks for your help
Roo
I am currently using the Longform theme on https://www.thegoodgun.com.
I noticed that the [ssba] tag is showing up after post content and ads, no matter which post you go to. I thought it had something to do with a plugin trying to add sharing buttons after the post. I went under my “Sharing” settings and disabled this, to no avail. I’ve also unchecked the option to use the buttons in individual post settings, and that hasn’t fixed the problem either.
It’s a minor nuisance, but I would greatly appreciate help in eliminating this erroneous code from my posts! Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer!
Greetings,
When on MOBILE device (cell phone) I did not have a MENU, so after research, this solution came up:
.modify .site-header {
visibility: visible;
opacity: 1;
position: fixed;
top: 0px;
left: 0px;
}
NOW, I still seem to have problem with the CHAPTER LISTING as on desktop it “automatically pops into affect after one has scrolled past the title/1st object”. on MOBILE, there is no MENU/CHAPTER OPTION.
Item in question: https://imersivmedia.org/xs/the-xukuru-story-mobile/ (please, access only via cell devices WIFI – save 4g bandwidth! if you go via desktop you will not experience the problem)
Please help, can’t install my script until this has been resolved. (website is live as of SAT OCT 15 2016). We are a non-profit trying to get the word/story out regarding 3rd world situations.
I recently joined a topsite for guns, and for some reason the footer keeps stretching their tracking image’s size out of proportion. I tried specifying exact image dimensions in HTML, but I believe it’s being overridden. I’m not an expert with CSS, but I’m guessing something in the coding is causing this. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this issue?
My website is https://www.thegoodgun.com
The image in question is located at the very bottom.
Thank you for any help you can offer!
Hi
nice work on your Longform-Theme, i would like to give it a try on my private photographer page.
But there are two questions i would like to get answered:
1. Where to change the main menu to non-capital characters (like in the sub-menus)
2. What is the maximum level in the menu? When i try to add something on 3rd level it doesn’t show up while hovering over the menu. I only see the blue bar in front of it which indicates that there is a submenu below this entry.
Thanks!
On the blog-posts page I cannot get a thumbnail image to show – the featured image in the post. I only have the title and excerpt. How do you make a thumbnail of the featured image appear? Thanks
I am trying to add a drop capital to some paragraphs of a post using the Longform theme and the Aesop plugin. [plugins: Simple Drop Cap and Dropcaps Shortcode and Widget.
The problem is the paragraph with the drop cap shortcode stops being centered with an indent each side and just goes full width:

Any help would be appreciated!
Hello,
I was wondering how its possible to put the slider with the featured posts on the bottom of the Website. Usually its on the upper end but I’d like to have it the other way round (like here: https://cargoland.kcrw.com).
Is there any chance?
Thanks!
Hi!
I just installed Longform and started to make a child theme for it to make minor adaptations.
I immediately noticed that when I create a child theme, some visual differences occur;
* Type face sizes do not match
* Other type faces are applied
* Widths of elements are not reflecting the original theme
What I have done so far is to
1: Create a folder named longform-child
2: Create a style.css file containing
/*
Theme Name: My Longform
Theme URI: https://cohhe.com/project-view/longform/
Author: Jonas Hellstr?m
Author URI: https://cohhe.com/
Template: longform
Description: Enhance your story experience, by leveraging the power of Longform WordPress Theme, built especially for telling great stories. It is the only free WordPress theme fully compatible with the Aesop Story Engine.
Version: 1.6.4
License: GNU General Public License v3
License URI: https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-2.0.html
Tags: black, two-columns, three-columns, left-sidebar, right-sidebar, fixed-layout, responsive-layout, custom-background, editor-style, featured-images, flexible-header, full-width-template, microformats, post-formats, sticky-post, theme-options, translation-ready
Text Domain: longform
This theme, like WordPress, is licensed under the GPL.
Use it to make something cool, have fun, and share what you’ve learned with others.
*/
3: Create a functions.php file containing
<?php
function theme_enqueue_styles() {
$parent_style = ‘parent-style’;
wp_enqueue_style( $parent_style, get_template_directory_uri() . ‘/style.css’ );
wp_enqueue_style( ‘child-style’,
get_stylesheet_directory_uri() . ‘/style.css’,
array( $parent_style )
);
}
add_action( ‘wp_enqueue_scripts’, ‘theme_enqueue_styles’ );
?>
I can’t for the life of me figure out why this very bare child-theme implementation alters the final outcome of the site, especially since I have added 0 modifications.
Am I missing certain steps in the procedure?
Thanks in advance
Jonas
Longform posts and pages on my website (www.crystal-chan.com) are showing up compressed into a small column on the left-hand side of mobile devices. The header logo fills the width of the screen on mobile, but everything else – header, body, footer – are showing up in a small thin column. Is this a problem with theme across board?
Header bar is working just fine on my pc, but it is completely missing on my phone and tablet screens. This applies only to articles, as the rest of the website works fine on any screen. (link below)
I am using a child theme of longform with very little modifications(none of them affecting the masthead). I have the latest version of wordpress and longform and I also tried disabling my plugins. I used chrome and safari on ios and android and got the same results.
Any idea why this happens? Sometimes, during loading, you can glimpse the header bar, but it disappears almost instantly.
Has anybody had the problem with the entire comment section of the post being squished?
Heres and example: https://1000epics.com/2016/getting-it-done-january-update/
When you visit the authors page I get two php errors
Notice: Undefined variable: author_style in /home3/ryanjam3/public_html/v2/wp-content/themes/longform/author.php on line 54
>
and
Notice: Undefined variable: social_content in /home3/ryanjam3/public_html/v2/wp-content/themes/longform/author.php on line 72
Can somebody please shed some clarity on the situation
here is the actual problem:
I want to change the color of the blue throughout the theme. I upgraded to the Pro theme thinking this gave me an option without having to comb through the stylesheet but I cannot see this option.
Any ideas of getting rid of the blue color (links, search icon etc).
I love the theme but I’m having a problem.
My blog feed doesn’t display the featured image thumbnail, only the title author and excerpt.
When I click on an individual post the full width image is there and works as it should.
Heres the site
I want to use a custom background color and this does not work with the post page where the featured image is transparent. I get a hard line instead of the background color blending behind the featured image.
Trying to get Longform to work for my site but I may have to with another theme. Would Longform Pro work better?

If I add a manual excerpt it is not formatted for aesop plugin and the excerpt runs full width.
Any idea to use excerpts that are formatted to match?
On the static home page I am using a parallax image component to add a full width image. I want this to butt up under the top nav menu but there is a large white space above the image component. I am not showing the page title above the image.
Trying to find out how to move the aesop parallax image up to remove the white space above. Thanks.
I do not want any categories displayed either on the post list or full page post – I only have two categories anyway. Also I want to remove all tags from showing and the author info that is at the bottom of each post. I will keep the comments box at the bottom but I also do want to display wether there are any comments (shown with the categories under the post title).
Finally if I make a link to another story at the bottom of the post I get a related article link but it is a huge thumbnail with huge letters – how can I edit this or maybe just not show it?
Lot of requests – thanks!
please see our homepage here: https://longreads.oneworld.nl/
The thumbnail dimensions are not right after the 6th thumbnail.
Also: the new stories appear on the bottom. Is there a way to make them appear at the top?
Thank you!
