How do I remove the entire Powered by WordPress. . . . . section at the bottom of this theme?
Thank you very much.

]]>Hi –
I’m using the Kelly Theme and I’ve got a colored bar below my footer area and I was wondering how to both:
1) remove or hide the color bar and
2) how to add text to the color bar (opposed to using a plugin like Footer Putter)
Thanks

Hi –
I’d like to hide the mobile menu in the Kelly Theme. I’m currently hiding the menu using this:
.nav-menu {
display: none;
}
This works for the desktop version but not the mobile version.
Thanks

]]>Kathryn,
9 months ago, I went with your advice on copying the content.php file from my parent theme to my child theme, and then changed line 30 to get my desired end-result. Worked fine up until the last update of the current WordPress Nightly Builds, but now doesn’t work when a viewer searches by clicking on an individual TAG (Featured Images get carried over the to each Individual Post). I have three questions (when you get the time):
1.) Was it necessary to copy the ENTIRE content.php file to my Child theme, OR could I have deleted all of the text, EXCEPT for the changes I made?
2.) Off the top of your head, would you happen to know exactly what text I can add to this code to make excepts work for tag searching again: <?php if ( is_search() || is_home() ) : // Only display Excerpts for Search or Blog Index ?>
?
3.) Have the recent changes to the core in the current WordPress 4.3 Beta 1, altered the code snippets necessary to make changes to Kelly Child themes?
I’ll research this on the Codex Conditional Tags page, and see if I can find the answer myself if you are not currently tethered to your computer (like we all don’t have something else to do in our lives).
Thanks for any time, you put into answering this!
]]>Couldn’t find the answer in the Readme file. The reason I like to know is whether-or-not I can get rid of any plugins that aren’t necessary anymore due to possible additions to the theme.
BTW…is the Changelog tab going to be added back to the Theme Directory?
If so, what’s the timeline?
]]>During a short survey, I handed a Google Nexus 7 tablet to several bystanders who had never seen this website before (https://shapeshifter3.com). Two of them asked me if it was possible to see ALL of the lyrics for each post. Neither had taken the effort to read the tagline (OR even open the dropdown menu to see what else was available). What I had assumed was easy to figure out…they did not.
Using a 15″ widescreen laptop and dragging the right edge of the window to the left, the menu stays non-collapsible until the viewscreen reaches tablet size. Is it possible to delay that collapse, until the viewscreen reaches smartphone size?
Could that be implemented with a new Theme Update? If not, how about some sort of new Options Button in the Theme’s Customizer?
]]>I was wondering if a Tagline Color Button could be added to the Theme’s Customizer for the Tagline, to improve its text contrast.

]]>Has anybody already figured out how to implement the usage of Genericons for Kelly’s Social Media Nav Menus, as explained by Justin Tadlock in these two Posts: https://justintadlock.com/archives/2013/08/07/social-media-nav-menus and https://justintadlock.com/archives/2013/08/14/social-nav-menus-part-2.
(Kelly is an Automattic Theme and may already have part of the necessary code, but I don’t see the Genericons anywhere and don’t want to duplicate or clutter the code base if it already exists. Maybe someone else has already done this for the theme in an efficient manner. Better yet, maybe the theme’s author will update the theme to include them).
What I’m after is having the ability to display Social Media Genericons within a Custom Menu Widget within a Kelly Footer Sidebar (Not as a vertical list…but horizontal Icons).
]]>In case anybody reviews any of my past Topics, most of my Content has been moved here: https://Shapeshifter3.com/ for a better usuage of the Kelly Theme. The previously referenced address now uses a different theme better suited for its own purpose.
]]>Google Chrome Version 39.0.2171.42 beta-m (64-bit) is my default browser:
It displays the Kelly Theme with different text sizes when redirected from other sites, but then displays properly when I refurbish the browser. Chrome seems to be the only browser that does this, and I’m not sure if it happens in the 32-bit version or not. Here are some examples:
Initial Site Access: https://snag.gy/P8fwl.jpg
Post Refurbishing: https://snag.gy/wt63x.jpg
Has anybody else had problems with Browser renditions of the Kelly Theme, OR is it just my particular version ?
]]>The Title is centered BUT the Links end up being indented, once the screen size is reduced to a certain point. Looks sloppy on a smartphone. Also, there is an extra space below the Title that doesn’t show up in other widgets. I’m thinking that the extra space is where the imported WP Custom Menu Title is hidden from the viewer, allowing the administrator to change the Widget Title. That may be what’s forcing the indentation. Here are some screenshots:
15 1/2 Widescreen Laptop (Full Screen): https://snag.gy/fHbfu.jpg. Centering of “My Other Sites” looks fine, but there is an added extra space below the title.
Same Laptop (Approx. 1/2 Screen Size): https://snag.gy/kQPKS.jpg. Title still centered, extra space still there, and indentation of Links begins. The Widget also seems to add an extra space below itself, before the next Widget (PayPal).

Most grid systems have at least 4 to enable good Mobile Device display, so I was wondering. Can Kelly be improved by adding at least two more to the Stylesheet? It seems to cover small and large devices well, but not necessarily the middle. I’ll send a screenshot of my own site to explain what I’m looking for. It may take me awhile. I have to go out.

I don’t know if this is important or not but I noticed that while viewing videos on a Google Nexus 7, the Height is restricted whether in Portrait or Landscape mode. Was the theme designed this way on purpose? Is there any way to improve it? Or, is it best just left alone?

]]>Hi!
I have already succeeded in getting my Blog list set to display Excerpts instead of Full display, using code changes in my Child theme recommended by Kathryn Presner in the previously resolved topic. Here are the results: My Blog.
What does Not work though, are the listings for Categories or Tags. Here are some current examples of those: Random Thoughts, Music Videos, and Humor.
Am I correct that a few more code inserts in my Child theme’s Content.php file will also correct the display of these ?
What I’m trying to accomplish is a reduction in file size download to smartphone users: Toolbox-4-Websites/about.

Is there a way to enable just post excerpts on the homepage, instead of displaying the entire entry?
