I’d like to have a static background image for the “Dusk to Dawn” theme on my site, so that the content scrolls in front of it instead of the image repeating. I see the controls in Appearance, but they do not seem to clearly offer that option. (I’ve gotten very gunshy at just randomly trying sh*t b/c I’ve made pages or themes unmanageable by doing so.)

]]>I set up a child theme which, at the moment, contains very sparse style.css and functions.php files. With the child theme loaded, the archive links on the left sidebar take you to a blank page. Click on a month (ie June 2014) the browser is redirected to website.com/2014/06 but the page is blank.
If I change to the Dusk to Dawn theme itself, not the child theme, the links work.
Any thoughts?

When I was looking for a suitable alternate theme yesterday I noticed that some of them allow you to show only parts of each blog post on the hompage. Reading the whole post requires clicking on the title and loading the whole post on a new page. I would like to be able to do something like this with this theme rather than showing the entirety of each post on the home page. Is there an option I can select to change it so that only the first paragraph or so shows up for each listed post on the homepage?

Thank you for fixing the problem with the theme. I have another question that was prompted by my brief use of an alternative theme yesterday. For as long as I have been using the dusk and dawn theme, I have noticed that some of my adds have yellow space around them. See below:
When I was using a different theme yesterday, these yellow spaces never appeared even though the same widget was being used. This makes me think that this may be a problem specific to this theme. My guess is that the html given says that a certain area should be used for the add, but sometimes google sends an add that is smaller than the designated area. For some reason this isn’t handled I guess and you get the yellow space. Any thoughts on this or is it me who is doing something wrong?
]]>So I went ahead and installed the latest update to the theme in the dashboard. After that, I started getting errors that the update folder.php or something like that wasn’t available. These showed up at the top of the dashboard. The outward facing part of the site looked fine though so I put off figuring it out 1 day (today). When I tried to log in today, I couldn’t do it. I was getting similar errors about several folders not being there. I ended up having to manually delete the theme on my hosting service and switch it to 2015 theme. This down I could log in again. I then tried to install a fresh install of the theme from scratch. That made things even worse because not only could I no longer log in (and I was kicked out of the dashboard), but the front end went down too. I manually deleted again, switched to a different theme, and everything was fine. Is anyone else having this problem or is it just me? On the old version, I made a minor change in that I changed the code for the gradient so that the color changes were different colors, and there were more changes. I would have expected completely deleting the theme to get rid of all that and start me over fresh, but maybe that is still hanging around somewhere?

I’d really like to have the featured image centred on each post – I know this involves doing something to the css, which isn’t ideal for me as I am a complete coding newbie. I use platforms like wordpress to AVOID having to do anything with code and have no idea what page I even need to open let alone what code I need to search for and replace. Could someone please explain this to me in terms that you would use for a technophobic elderly relative? ??

As per previous threads on this topic, I tried reducing the #page padding (with and without !important) and ornament.png; neither worked. I can remove the padding in the right sidebar, just for experimentation’s sake, but the space over the banner doesn’t want to budge.

I really like the Dusk to Dawn theme, but I’m having trouble figuring out how to add the author/time to the main index template. Usually I just go in there and add the code directly, but I don’t see it where I’m accustomed to see it, and I’m not sophisticated/educated enough to figure out where it is in this particular theme.

I have just installed Woocommerce, and it doesn’t seem to go well together with the theme, as you can see on : https://www.lockedinthecellar.com/test-shop/
My main issue is the menu on the left being pushed down. I have to be sure this can be solved before I continue to add products.
If you can recommend another eCommerce solution instead of WooCommerce that works better with the theme, I’m willing to switch.
I cannot get the main “content” portion of the site and the sidebar to match in height automatically.

]]>Hello. Today I am getting caught up on updating a few of my websites. I updated a site where I used your dusk-to-dawn theme, which a love (kvyouthsymphony.com). The active theme is a child theme and currently, the parent theme is vs. 1.1. I first updated wordpress to 3.8.1 with no visible problems. When I updated the theme to vs. 1.3, however, it appeared that the parent theme’s styles were suddenly being ignored. For some reason, only the child theme files were loading. This caused the site to looked quite broken, so I quickly just did a restore from the most recent backup. Things are back to normal but I would like to update wp again, then be sure to update the theme. Do you have any advice?
