DMS is a theme that has the right idea, but I have run into a myriad of issues with DMS plugins that are NOT free and the customer support for PageLines products is awful, pointing you to forums for answers. Any one-on one-support is via email and takes 24 hours and — in my experience — is handled by ONE tech.
I cannot endorse this product due to their lack of support.

I downloaded this as I struggle with CSS. DMS is really impressive for those of us who hate code and just want things to work. It’s all drag and drop and really flexible. It take a little getting used to but once you do it’s a god send.

I’ve been using DMS for almost a year now, but only recently joined the community. I can say they’re some of the most helpful developers around and as a result my work’s quality has increased greatly. The product is a solid 5-star product which helps you build a quality website at a fraction of the normal cost. Most solid investment my company made so far!

This is the only logical option for us out there! After trying out the free version here we have signed up for DMS 2 and never looked back. 100% recommendation!

Best true drag and drop theme on earth! I’d suggest go for premium!

Very nice theme, but very misleading once installed.
For instance when you try to build pages, this message is shown over and over:
“Looks like you haven’t installed the DMS Pro tools plugin. Grab the plugin on your My Account > My Downloads page. Its free and easy to register.
This free plugin enables a lot of functionality we could not include in this www.remarpro.com version of DMS.”
There is no free plugin, UNLESS you pay to get the free plugin. Huh?
One place on their forum mods say they put a free one on WP org, then in another place they tell people it is only for paid members.
But like I said, very nice them. Just can’t give high ratings when have to spend all this time finding out I have to pay for what is said to be free.

So if I don’t want to use Chrome, the editor doesn’t work. First time I’ve come across a theme that tells me which browser to use. Ridiculous.

I’ve been playing with it all afternoon, I haven’t tried everything yet but now I’ve got use to how it all works I have to say it is impressive. It looks great on mobile and on all devises I’ve tried.
The ability to use different elements in your design on a page by page bases is something I’ve wanted from WP for years. And included in this free version there is a good number of elements oyu can add to your template. The only negatives i’ve come across so far are:
As far as I can see when you add a section you can’t only add it to a given page or say only categories. I used a HTML box to add a featured post section on the top of the home page and it added the box to all pages with a text like “add content”. I had to set in global settings some random html like <b></b> plus css 0px 0px in options to get rid of the text on the top of all pages… the negative of this work around is that the box code is still added to the source of the page, so although you don’t see anything, it makes the content on the page page drop by a number of pixels, not a biggy, but I lost a lot of hours with it….
You can’t edit the template your self and add code… you will always have to use their html boxes to add code for other plugins etc.. which is a little less flexibly than hard coding it (example problem mentioned above), then again it does mean that when you update the theme files there’s no need to go back and code it back in.
It will of cause depend on your needs, but so far I think in most cases the positives way out way the negatives, It looks like I’ll be using it on most of my projects for the time being.

When I first tried DMS, I was skeptical. It’s new. It’s very fresh and you can feel it. There were some broken links in the homepage. There are still some bugs. Googling stuff that usually brings lots of solutions instantly with other themes etc. might not bring you anything (as the community and support forums are so new alse).
Also, all the drag & drop -themes I’ve tried in the past have been horrible and I really did not think it would be possible to create anything usable with that philosophy.
But DMS is different. It’s amazing, I love it and it has actaully changed my entire design process. It has also cut the time of developing sites by about 40%-90%, depending on how much customization I need.
With the time I need for coding custom stuff being smaller, I can now focus more on great overall design and serving my clients needs better.
The first huge problem DMS solves, is that traditionally with WordPess you can only create pages or posts. And if you want to have i.e. boxes of content on a landing page, you need to create a page template and hardcode the content. Or make the boxes from posts and loop them or something. There just hasn’t been a good solution.
But with DMS you can just drag and drop boxes of with all kinds of contents to your site and customize the text/content in the front end. This is the biggest, awesomest thing DMS brings to the table and it just takes some much time out of the process.
Second thing that I’d like to stress is that DMS is for developers. It’s NOT the “drag & drop -system your grandmother will learn to use” and that’s the best thing about it. It’s so developer friendly, and doesn’t frustrate me by being “too easy” like most solution like this do for people who actually know their way around HTML, CSS etc.
Third thing is the responsive grid, based on Twitter’s Bootstrap. It’s just se well made, so fast, and it just works.
Fourth:
Up until this point I’ve custom coded pretty much everything to make it as good as I want and work the way I want it to work. But DMS is so good that I made the decicion to always use it. So there is just one framework to use, and all the code used in previous projects is easily available as custom sections I’ve coded my self.
I first bought DMS for one page for one month for $8. In a week I ended up upgrading to pro and doing all of my client work with it, even using it with more complex custom layouts ordered from me by graphic designers.

I’ve been a PageLines user for a couple of years now and I can say DMS is by far the best WordPress Framework I’ve ever used. The design flexibility and options give you the ability to create beautiful-looking websites with minimal coding. I highly recommend the product.

In WP 3.8.1 don’t work… I must change setting via MySQL database because my sites were blank ??
In MySQL find table wp_options and change it in template and stylesheet.

DMS is a great place to start when doing custom design work. Their modular drag and drop system makes it easy to get a responsive site up and running literally in minutes. Take it further with the ability to override everything through CSS and a LESS compiler built right in. You can even design your own sections. There’s a healthy community around it as well full of developers and designers who are happy to help you extend DMS.

Just as Pagelines’ website says, DMS is the easiest way to build beautiful websites.
I tinker with websites as side job, but I also have 4 kids and work a full time job in a completely unrelated field. So I hardly have any time to expand my web design knowledge and implement it into an actual website. Luckily I don’t have to. The great thing about DMS is that you don’t have to be a true web designer in order to make awesome websites. If you know how to point, click, drag, and drop, DMS is the perfect tool for you.
One of the main sites I work on is owned by an up and coming author, who writes for Hay House Publishing Company. They tell all of their clients that if you want to be successful, you must have a great looking website. DMS has made it really easy to do just that. My client and I receive numerous compliments all the time on how awesome the website looks, not only from its web visitors, but also from the people at Hay House itself. My client recently sold her 10,000th copy of her new book after only a few short months, and her website has played a big part in that.
DMS is the real deal. The platform itself is incredible, and the icing on the cake comes from all the extensions you can add to it. I converted an entire website to DMS mainly so I could use one of the many extensions that you can purchase from the PageLines store. These extensions are created by fellow web designers. They are a close nit group of people who are always helping each other, and who want you to be successful.
Try DMS. You won’t be disappointed.

I purchased pagelines over a year ago and was excited with their new dms but that soon turned out to be a joke. Support is very poor. The customer is made to feel like the enemy if you say one thing is wrong or doesn’t work. Communication between the support techies and their customers is very very poor. DMS is also extremely heavy and will bring your google server rating down. Since removing it mine has improved immensely and I’m no longer stressed by a poorly supported template. Was not worth the money.

This is a fantastic tool for non-developers that are using WordPress and want more than the traditional theme provides. Drag and Drop is the future and DMS is the best out there for WordPress based sites.

Worst ever support. Worse ever customer support. NEVER. EVER buy anything from these people. Why they are allowed to post anything for free here is beyond me.
Never ever waste a single second of your valuable and precious time on this earth working with anything these people offer. Even if free.
I can’t even tell you.
They mothball their paid themes half way through when I bought it (pagelines).
Expect the same when it comes times for DMS to be replaced by something else.
No communication about the upgrade path which is NONE.
You can’t get pagelines (original) to work with pagelines DMS. It doesn’t convert.
Just the worst ever.
And when you have messages in their forum that might be a bit critical about their support. They delete them.
They have no support for it. feature frozen. So I get 6 months of a product and then they freeze it.
Then, everything disappears. Where I used to log in for my paid version of PageLines is now the DMS Pageslines with no link to where the old resources are. No link to the plugins that were available. No link or reference to the themes / child themes.
And on the forum, there is no messaging, Nothing.
And when mentioned on the forum that everything has disappeared and now unsupported. They say. No it is still supported. You just have to request your product via email.
What pisses me off is that they come up with a pro version and then dump it and remove all the resources. They do not have the manners to email their customers.
These peoples motto is Happiness Guaranteed. You gotta ask yourself Whose happiness. Not their customer’s happiness. Maybe their won.
Worst customer service.
Worst Marketing.
Worst communication EVER.

I had been using the PageLines Framework since a long time and I was always really happy with it!
So I was very exited when they announced the launch of the new design management system (DMS).
Immediately after launched in summer 2013 I started to work with it.
My initial start was getting familiar with the new system. I had to learn a lot of new functionalities and usability issues, because the design management system allows you to drag & drop every single template sections in a front end editor to the place where you need it! Wau! That’s so amazing, because you get a totally new approach and toolset in your hands to design multi-media applications!
Further PageLines and their really great team makes it very easy for you to get familiar with the system. They provide a forum which is very active and super good managed and a great documentation which also improves every day, because we are able to contribute (all is open source and accessible via GitHub). Documentation is in english, but if you need the system in a different language, you are welcome to contribute to the translation/ localization, in order to make it accessible for people out of your country. For instance, I am German and I did the german localization which made me a lot of fun because there are already people out of 18 countries = languages involved! So we had and still have a great project together!
Of course the system is not only shining! Because the system is quiet new, there are alway some bugs, usability issues… Obviously this is always the case, I never launched a project without it! But as long as there is a responsible team behind PageLines DMS I feel good about it.
So I do!
Because I know the team is doing a fantastic job!
My learnings:
? get your hands on and start, because it’s a system (like all others) which one can learn by using
? read the documentation first, that makes life easier
? ask a lot of questions in the forum, they will love you for it ??
? contribute, if you feel like – it’s open source and all provided on GitHub
I love PageLines DMS!
Sii
