Hello,
I have a full-width cover block with a two-column block inside on a page. When I use this block with this theme, the left twelve characters are cut off and about a third of the image on the right side is cut off. It appears that the theme is displaying the content at a width larger than what the screen actually is. However, there is no scroll bar at the bottom.
I do not have this issue when I switch to the Twenty Nineteen theme, so I am left to assume that the problem is with the theme. I have also disabled all plugins, but I still have the same problem when the Challenger theme is enabled.
Menu on mobile is showing up on the left, and not even totally on the page. Looks fine (upper right corner) on iPad size, or on iPhone in landscape, but not iPhone in normal vertical mode. I don’t have an android to test on so not sure about that.
Anyone have an idea of what I can try adding to the code for a fix? Thanks! So much in advance! ??

Hi, thanks for creating this nice theme. I’m considering using it and ran into a few small issues while testing it.
1. I’m interested in using the banner feature but not with the tagline, button, or both. However, it seems there’s no way to use the banner without having a button and tagline. When I delete the contents of the options for those elements, the default values get used (even though the empty values do get saved). I can ditch these things in a child theme easily, but that would be nice to avoid ??
2. When tabbing through the menu, focusing on submenu items does not keep the submenu open and the first submenu item is the only one that’s accessible at all via keyboard navigation.
3. Glancing at the social icon output, there is no accessible text label for each icon (using title
attributes isn’t accessible). Also, some screen readers will read out the contents of icon fonts, so the icon itself should be aria-hidden
. Better pattern would be (psuedo code)
Social Network
4. The default blue color for the banner overlay (which I don’t see a way to change) is so bright that it literally can’t be accessible with white text regardless of the banner image. Therefore, while there’s a lot of great accessible code I’m seeing in the theme, that is one area that definitively isn’t.

Block Editor Stuff

I ran the site through the Block Unit Test plugin and found a few other things.
5. The :visited
link style seems to result in black-on-black text/background for the Button block in the new editor.
6. Left- and right-aligned images don’t seem to have padding along the vertical edge that directly abuts the text. Similarly, the pullquotes don’t seem to have any interior padding.

Thanks again for providing the nice theme, and I hope this feedback can make it better.
Hi Ben,
Need a little help here.
I want to create a new page template into my child theme. That would be a landing page template. And I specifically want two things into that.
1. Remove the header. That template shouldn’t have a menu bar
2. Page builder width. This template should stretch the content from one edge of the screen to the other and remove any margins or paddings for the entire content area.
Instead of showing published date, I want to show last updated date on the post. How can I do that?
Hi Ben,
Does Challenger support related posts? Or do I need a plugin for this?
Best,
Edward
Hi Ben,
I would like to use ‘Last updated on:’ before the date in the Challenger theme.
Do you know how I can manage this?
Thnx!
Edward
So I’m just using the “customize” option in wordpress to make changes, but they won’t take! Every time I make a change (like adding a url for a sign up form to the header, or changing the featured image aspect ratio) it says it’s published, but then I go back in there and it has reverted back to the previous version (no changes)
I have added featured images for a lot of posts but none of them are actually displaying on the website. It’s showing in the editor though, but not on the site.
Thanks so much for downloading Challenger!
Challenger has a ton of resources for customizing your site and fixing errors. Here’s a list of the resources and how to use each one.
Challenger tutorials
If you want to add the large images showcased in the demo, customize the menus, and do more with Challenger, check out the Challenger Support Center for step-by-step tutorials.
Customizing Challenger
You don’t need to know CSS to tweak and customize your site with it. Challenger has some pre-written CSS snippets you can copy and paste in the Challenger CSS Snippets Collection.
Advanced customization
If you need to reorder elements in the template or make complex customizations, you’ll need to use a “child theme“. You can click here to download a starter child theme for Challenger and find basic setup instructions here.
Something went wrong!
If you notice something isn’t working that used to work, check out the Challenger changelog. It will let you know about the recent changes so you can check if an update caused the new error.
If you do ever have an issue with a new version of Challenger, you can always use the WP Rollback plugin to revert to a prior version without the error.
General WP questions
You can find dozens of tutorials on using WordPress on the Compete Themes blog.
Still have questions?
If you have any errors or unanswered questions, search the forum here to see if there’s an existing solution. If not, please open a new thread.
When posting a new thread, please include the URL of your website. I don’t always need this, but sometimes I do so it will get you a solution faster.
Thanks for checking this thread and enjoy the theme ??
