After clicking on the image with a mobile phone, it reports that the video is not available. It doesn’t always happen but it usually happens on first loads. When the page is updated it loads normally fine afterwards.

I need to know if I can embed Youtube private videos and/or private lists.
These videos belong to a course that I offer online.
I currently have them set as Private because I don′t want them to go public.
Youtube does not allow me to share my Private videos with any other person. I am the only person who can view them.
For this reason, I would like to know if this plugin will allow me to insert / embed the private video Or private List in a page bearing “restricted content” plugin.
The main functionalities I am looking for are:
a) The person buying the course should be able to access the restricted content, (the video) during his membership, but will not be able to access content after membership has expired. He should not be able to access the videos from my website OR from Youtube.
b) The videos should remain protected. Meaning: Video downloading should not be allowed.
Please let me know if all this is possible

]]>At the moment this plugin does NOT work with PHP 8 or above.
If you have upgraded to PHP 8 and it appears to be fine, it’s likely that this due to the plugin’s internal caching – once this expires, videos will stop working.
The workaround for now is downgrade your PHP version (7.4, for example) and then change the plugin caching (found in Settings -> YouTube Embed) to 0, which will cause it to clear.
In due course I will test and fix for PHP 8 but, right now, I don’t have a timescale for this.

You’ll notice that not a lot has happened with this plugin for a while, despite a long list of issues and feature requests in Github. The reality is, I just don’t have the time.
So, I’ve decided to concentrate my time and efforts on just certain plugins within my portfolio – not necessarily those that are the most popular but those that “spark joy”, to quote Marie Kondo. Basically, those that I enjoy working on.
Sadly, this plugin didn’t make the cut. There are lots of great, alternative plugins out there now and even the built-in YouTube embedding is so much better than it was when I first created this plugin. Back then you needed to add a parameter just to get a video to play in HD. But this plugin has fallen behind the times and is badly in need of a re-write.
What does this mean? Well, it’s not going away for a start. Instead, it’s going to enter a hibernation mode, only waking from its slumber when needed. When is that?

2. Major bugs
And that’s it*. It won’t even be updated for WordPress compatibility, as I won’t spend any time testing it when a new release comes out.
In due course I’ll update the README to reflect all of the above and even add a dismissible admin messages too for those who won’t necessarily see that either.

I can solve this checking the option Responsive Output > Show full width and resize with the browser. But in that manner, videos become huge on the screen (1200px large).

The wordpress built in embedder is not properly responsive on my site. I use another responsive YouTube plugin to auto convert the URLs for my very novice users. And i use yours when i need the extra functionality. But i would like to just use your plugin.
Anyhow, thanks for this plugin! It has the most features of any i have can find. I wanted the start AND stop at specific times. Yours had it. Thank you.

I would like to default the language of the youtube videos to english. It does not work! Am I doing anything wrong?
The youtube embed settings contain an api key and the default profile is set to “Show closed caption” and “cc language=en”.

That should create a playlist based on the title of the current post.
But it doesn’t work.
Does that mean it’s not possible to use a shortcode to determine the search term?
Is it just a matter of using do_shortcode on the content within your shortcode?

]]>So, this plugin has been a huge help, because it’s enabling “playsinline” which allows YT videos to play inline on iOS devices. I needed that because Elementor wasn’t providing it.
But… Looping is not working, when the video finishes it’s not playing back by itself, you have to click the replay button. I hope there’s a solution for that because I need that feature.
And, there’s a problem with CSS that’s causing black bars to show up on top and bottom and messing up with how videos look. I solved that myself but it’d be better to edit it from the source so people won’t have to do it.
This is how it is by default:
