The https://www.forkosh.com/mathtex.cgi URL now redirects to the CIA: https://snag.gy/mtIznv.jpg
Also, your documentation says:
Typical setup is to put the cgi location of your domain + cgi path.
For example,
https://yourdomain.com/wp-content/plugins/youngwhans-simple-latex/mathtex.cgi
but there’s no mathtex.cgi on the plugin folder.
Can you help?
Before updating to WordPress 5.xxx and getting the latest version of your plugin, everything worked just fine. I have a custom location for mathtex.cgi (cgi-bin folder of my apache2 name-based virtual host).
Going to that url directly https:/dummy/cgi-bin/mathtex.cgi?…. still works !
I’ve tried to set the mathtex.cgi location using the settings page of your plugin, but my changes are ignored. Upon reloading the page, the previous (wrong) entry appears again.
Hi Author,
I have been using your plugin since a long time and I find it easy and interesting too, but unfortunately today I am facing some issues with this plugin, I don’t know why it’s showing such errors. It’s showing the error – can’t run latex program.
To check this error you may visit my blog page where it’s showing the error- https://answernow.in/testing-page/
I request you to have a check on it ASAP. Any help from your side would be appreciated.
Looking forward for your quick response!
Thanks,
Gaurav Taneja.
Hi,
I got a problem with mathtex and tried your plugin to see if the error also exists here.
Short:
https://s1.directupload.net/images/131026/tgrffxij.png
Code from:
https://www.kkittel.de/wiki/doku.php?id=mathematik:matrizen
Code:
\begin{pmatrix}
a_1 & a_2 & a_3 & a_4 \\
b_1 & b_2 & b_3 & b_4 \\
c_1 & c_2 & c_3 & c_4 \\
d_1 & d_2 & d_3 & d_4
\end{pmatrix}
I got the same result with your plugin.
Any ideas to solve this?
There is no link in the option menu as shown on the screenshot.
And two thinks you could simple improve:
*Add an own class to the image-tag for css-formatting.
*Add the Latex-Code in the alt attribute.

The ISP for mathTeX’s public web service no longer permits “dreamhost” subdomains. That means your tags of the form
<img_src=”https://www.forkosh.dreamhost.com/mathtex.cgi?c=\sqrt{a^2+b^2}”>
will not work after November 30, 2011. Change them all to
<img_src=”https://www.forkosh.com/mathtex.cgi?c=\sqrt{a^2+b^2}”>
That is, just remove the “dreamhost.” from all tags. That works right now. To repeat, the address of the public mathTeX server is now
https://www.forkosh.com/mathtex.cgi
so write tags of the form
<img_src=”https://www.forkosh.com/mathtex.cgi?c=\sqrt{a^2+b^2}”>
to access it. Thanks, John Forkosh

Hi,
I loved your screenshot and ‘ve happily chosen your plugin.
Unfortunatly in my wp installation it doesn’t worked.
I can see the square for the button in tinyMCE, but not the graphics, it contains only some text. But thats not the problem. If I click the button, I only get a white screen.
Hope you can find the time to upgrade your nice plugin to 3.21
Best Regards, Mario
