Greetings. I appreciate your efforts with this plugin. However, I see that it has not been updated in six months. Are you still supporting it? Thank you.
]]>I’m tring to insert a download file link into a Page or Custom Post through the regular ?Insert Link“ feature, but none of the created Download/ Document files appear in the list.
Any idea what this could be?
Thank you for upgrading your plugin.
Since I had been doing some work on WPDR, I installed your plugin and took a look.
I recently made a fix to allow WPDR to support Featured Images – and this is in the version on Ben Balter’s github repository, so I expect it will be released at some time.
Since the Featured Image metabox disappeared, I looked for why.
Your code filters “supports” – and uses a default set of values. That’s OK for the current release version as the default set is that of WPDR.
Would it be possible sometime to change the code to
$args[ 'supports' ] = apply_filters(
'wpdrsd_filter_post_type_supports',
$args[ 'supports' ]
);
Unless, of course, you do not want Featured Images to be supported.
Can I point out a couple of things of ddw_wpdrsd_post_type_as_downloads
function for your consideration please:
1. It filters on register_post_type_args
– and needs to test for the post type.
It could filter on the existing WPDR filter document_revisions_cpt
and then only be invoked for the document post type.
2. It tests for the option wpdrsd_downloads_labels
. If not there, it returns without a value.
It should return $args
Hope this is of use.
Regards,
Neil James

I think the problem is happening because the WebDav Support was dropped in Version 3.0
]]>I just updated WordPress to the most recent version 4.3.1. along with some other plugin updates and some changes. But now hovering the “downloads” sidebar, it shows workflow states, and download settings, but not Downloads, Add Download.
Does anyone have a clue what has happened?
Tried deactivating and activating the plugin and it still wouldn’t work. Tried going to the URL directly: /wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=document, and it shows me “cheatin’ huh”.
I do see multiple rows with the post type document in the wp_posts table in the database.

]]>Hi,
It seems to have a conflict between wp document revisions and wp document revision download in multisite wp 4.0. When I activate the add on (downloads), the ‘documents’ menu disappears from the dashboard and I can only see a ‘downloads’ menu.
Does anyone knows how to fix it?

]]>I’m looking at ‘WP Document Revisions’ with ‘WP Document Revisions Simple Downloads’ on a site with WP_DEBUG set to true and The two plugins together are looking very good so far.
I get a PHP notice within the usage tab of the Download Settings:
Notice: Use of undefined constant Document – assumed ‘Document’ in …/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/wpdr-simple-downloads/includes/admin-form/wpdrsd-usage-tab.php on line 51
This doesn’t cause any problems and it is simple to fix by adding the missing quotes around the word ‘downloads’ on that line, so this is just a heads-up.
]]>I was killing myself how to fix this. See the message I composed below what I’ve tried already. However I figured it out by searching in the database:
Working code
[display-posts post_type="document" posts_per_page="50" orderby="title" order="ASC" taxonomy="wpdr-file-categories" tax_term="verkoop"]
Original Question
Is there a way to only show documents by category? I have tried everything that I can think of. This is the code I use, everything works perfectly except for the category filter:
[display-posts post_type="document" posts_per_page="50" orderby="title" order="ASC" category="verkoop"]
I’ve tried: category= / categories= / category_name= / wpdr-file-categories= / term= / term_id= / term_taxonomy_id= / taxonomy= /
All of them in both uppercase and lowercase combinations.
The document itself is published, public and final.
]]>Hi David,
WP Document Revisions is causing issues for one of my client sites, & seeing as Ben doesn’t appear to be actively developing or supporting his plugin anymore – I need a way to opt out with as little grief as possible.
I don’t suppose your plugin may be able to help with this process?
I really don’t fancy re-uploading 100+ documents to the Media Library & creating 301’s for them all (if I can avoid it).
Any help or advice greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jason
Hello ??
I have a question if you could help me with implementation to your plugin with force download function (e.g. not opening PDF doc in browser, but force download it instead)?
]]>Hello,
I’d like to use your plugin, but it seems that with WPML in version as in subject, it doesn’t trigger JavaScripts which work without WPML on post editor (e.g. Upload New Version button) and categories/tags.
Do you know how we can fix this?
]]>The File Categories / Tags widget isn’t working (but Search and Popular widgets work fine.) The categories or tags display in the sidebar, but when you click on a cat/tag, you get 0 results even though files are properly tagged or associated category is assigned.
Example: Category=Communications or Tag=CSC
File My Test Text is assigned category Communications and tagged with CSC.
When searching, the info appears. When looking at the backend, the info appears. However, the widget says Not found. (It looks like nothing was found at this location. Maybe try a search?)
In the widget – I tried both (Taxonmy: File Tags and also File Categories). Number to show = 10.
Settings? Ideas?
]]>When adding categories (we have about 50 categories) it takes about 1 – 3 minutes per category. Not sure why this takes so long. Is there a timeout setting somewhere that is in force that makes it take so long?
This is becoming a real problem for my client as they have to update with 10 or more categories at a time and this can take them a few minutes per category!
Hope you can help. I have sent you a private email with the same issue and a revised document import routine you may be interested in.

Jonathan
Hi, is there a way of hiding files set as public from the end user? I don’t want a file list, I just need the search widget visible and when the end user searches for a file the file is then made visible.
Cheers
]]>Since upgrading to 3.7.1, the plugin is no longer working for me. The Downloads menu no longer contains a list of all the downloads, which is leaving me unable to upload new revisions of my download files.
I have been using the plugin for about a year with no problems until this issue.
]]>I know I have contacted you elsewhere about this but thought it useful to put it here as well…
There is an issue with the [documents] shortcode – works fine to show all documents, but if you add any filters or custom taxonomies (like yours) it just ignores them and does not work.
Have had to resort to using “DISPLAY POSTS SHORTCODE” – which kind of works (thanks goodness) but would be better to use the native shortcode rather than installing yet another plugin.
]]>I have installed your plugin (love it!). The problem I have is with the security. I am using the ‘members’ plugin and have marked all files as being accessible to a group. When I logout I cannot see the page with the files listed – BUT if I go to that mydomain.com/downloads – I get a page with all the files.
Each file description says that the content is not accessible, but the link to the file is still clickable – and opens the file! I am hoping that this page should not be able to be displayed due to security issues?
Help would be much appreciated as this is a system that needs to go live shortly.
]]>I’d like to add icons to my downloads so that they’re easily recognizable as such. Is there any way to do this? Unfortunately I couldn’t find any special CSS class the plugin generates. Thanks for your help in advance.

]]>Can I have the Documents titles back in the Admin Menu section. My users will be more comfortable with that, and not every document we are managing is for public download (which is sort of implied in the change to Download title).
Should be easy?

]]>Here you have the spanish translation of WP Document Revisions Simple Downloads plugin.
In order to get the best results in taxonomy permalinks (I would like something closer to spanish than “file category”), I think it could very useful some way of modifying that taxonomy slug from the admin UI. I’ve done this by modifying line 57 in wpdrsd-taxonomies.php file (look at the URL in https://traduccioneswp.elarequi.com/categoria-de-ficheros/traducciones-de-plugins/), but I know this is not the best way.
On the other hand, when I try to display a list of downloads on a page, by means of a shortcode, I can’t get the correct output. Look, for example, at this page: https://traduccioneswp.elarequi.com/traducciones-de-temas/. The list includes not only theme translations, but also plugin translations.
I’ve tried the shortcode [documents wpdr-file-categories=”traducciones-de-plugins”] and many combinations of WPDR shortcode parameters, but to no avail. Any idea?
