It’s simple to use. I used it to translate my content with DeepL api. Thank you to the author.

This translates your content within the Admin panel, but it forcefully translates your text in the Admin panel, meaning you have no way of seeing the original text you wrote. There is an option to translate it back, then make edits, then run the translation again, but that will eat up your Deepl API costs and add extra time to your project. This can make adding new text to an existing page or making edits extremely difficult.
This does not give you any type of help when organizing your site or pages for translation. You will still need a separate plugin for that or WP Multi site and get help setting that up with a language switcher, etc. This can be an advantage if you want to control that yourself and all you need is a translator.

Good work. It is a plugin that has been giving me very good service for years and is very well maintained and updated by its developer.

Great Work!

Love it! Just not always clear how much can be translated in one go.
Would be good to have the option of splitting up the page’s content into multiple pieces to translate if it’s too much to do in a single time.

I’ve activated all three checkboxes in the settings for title, excerpt and content.
When I click the translate button, it shows “This post has been translated.” … but only the title and the excerpt are translated, not the body.
Although the title is only 25 characters and the excerpt is 225 characteres, it removed 1,000 characters from my DeepL credit. The remaining 750 characters are not the content, the content has 90,000 characters.
Using WordPress 6.2.2 with the (now default) Gutenberg editor.

This plugin is a life saver for me. A big thank you to the developers!
It works without problems and uses DeepL to translate a post, page, CPT (Custom Post Type) to the selected language.
I’ve tested it both with Free and Pro API DeepL accounts.
I use it to translate a website with hundreds of posts, pages, CPTs, from Greek to English.
Any limitations is not for this plugin to blame. The translation quality is based on DeepL’s quality.
In my case, after translation, I have to check the translation and apply changes. But even this way, this plugin saves so much time and money.
You have to be fluent in the translated language output to spot and perform changes. This is a DeepL’s issue, but I am sure that will be improved in the future.
This plugin is a life and time saver as it helps minimize the time to translate content.
Thank you Developers!!

Hi, first this plugin saved me so much time, exactly what i was searching for.
I noticed that the <!– wp:heading –> translation was alway partially translated in the html “text” ,
e.g.
<!– wp:heading –>

Buongiorno a tutti

<!– /wp:heading –>
Translated from It to eng become
<!– wp:heading –>

good morning everyone

<!– /wp:heading –>
How this work? in that case if not corrected the heading translation, search engine crawlers are going to see the old untraslated language?

Great plugin thanks but please you should add a feature to hide my API keys as people could steal my credits if they hack one of my website.

Thank you for this great plugin, it does exactly what I need in my workflow!
Saves a lot of time.

This plugin is very promising but does not work in combination with the page builder Elementor.
Are there any plans to implement this in the future? Elementor is a very important and much used pagebuilder. If this does work with Elementor, I will gladly change my rating.
Thanks in advance.

I am so glad I finally found this fantastic plugin!
It’s exactly what I need for my workflow.
No other plugin I tried does the job so well like DeepL Pro API translation.
I need translation management daily and this plugin is just super simple yet so powerful! And on top of all it has the “Formality level”, which is a MUST HAVE in my daily routine with DeepL and WordPress.
It saves me hours every week and I can’t praise it high enough.
Would gladly pay a subscription fee.
Thank you.

Like the title says.
Don’t forget that you need Deepl API plan for it to work, not Pro.

Edit: The Plugin works perfect now with Gutenberg after the fix!!
Unfortunately, the translator stopped working after Deepl made changes to the API. Before these changes the translations were running very well.
I still hope that the plugin will work again at some point. Thanks to @malaiac for the constant support.
Former Review: From a moment to another the plugin destroys and breaks all my content as soon as I click on translate. Don’t know what to do. The problem appears on multiple sites and domains. Please be careful if you are using the Gutenberg editor.

It’s working as from 1.5.2

This is what I receive as a Message.
Gutenberg is not compatible with WPDeepL yet. Please use Classic Editor.
I have Version 1.5.0 and a running DEPPL Pro with API.
Why is this? You wrote you implemented Gutenberg support?

Not compatible Gutemberg ? WTF. I paid my Deepl Plan Pro API for nothing …

I have tested the plugin about 1-2 years ago and a lot has changed since then: By now it works absolutely stable for the translations of our content, which are created with the block editor. You can set the languages beforehand and also correct the translations manually. We use this plugin now on several websites in combination with WPML.
Important: You need a DeepL developer API (the personal DeepL license does not work) and you should have a close look at the error log if something does not work. A setup wizard would be recommendable here!

I had tried this plugin a few months ago but unfortunately it wasn’t ready at that time. It didn’t work. I just tried again a few weeks ago and to my great joy it worked perfectly after the updates that were made on it.
On the other hand, all the languages of DeepL are supported except Portuguese. I also want to translate my projects into Portuguese, so I took the liberty to modify the plugin to add the language myself (I have some knowledge in web development). Adding the missing language to the plugin was easy to do, the plugin being well designed.
It deserves easily a 5 fives stars rating especialy because it’s completely free, thanks to the author.

The plugin is very basic and simply translates the content. Is not good for professionals and is bad and actually dangerous from an SEO point of view. Not ideal if you need plugin for multi-lingual and SEO optimized websites.

This plugin is currently the only way to use the Deepl API (superior machine translation, not entirely free but affordable) in WordPress without forking out over 150$ for a premium version of another translation plugin. It does what it says, running your post text through the Deepl API and return a translation in a number of language options. The documentation is sparse so I wasn’t sure how to best use this with existing translation plugins. When I first installed, the plugin wasn’t working with the latest WordPress but the author fixed it within a few days. Expecting this to help a great deal in running a multilanguage website, and awaiting the planned premium version. Hoping for more documentation on how to set this up to run with the most popular translation plugins, eg. on how to plug into those that offer manual translation options.

I take the time to write this review… because I have seen a lot of bad reviews.
This plugin is great!
You have to pay for DeepL services (API), but you save a lot of time afterwards.
In our case, we first make the page in English on our website, then we translate it in one click into 4 languages with DeepL accuracy.
Of course, if you don’t want to spend any money at all (DeepL subscription), forget it.
This is useful if your page has many paragraphs and/or images.
If you page is a simple page of text, that will note help you, you can copy and past your text in the DeepL page directly.
But if you have a lot of paragraphs and/or images and you don’t use this plugin, you have to copy and paste several times and therefore spend a lot of time. Especially if you have several translations to do.
So, a simple plugin, light and efficient.
Update: And great and amazing support!

cannot start it doesnt work

After several requests in the support we were not helped. Also other requests an support-tickets were not answered. Waste of time. Not to be recommended.
Rating: 1 star
Plugin doesn’t work and there is no support. In the articles the translate Button is shown but if you press “Translate” nothing happens. If you have DeepL Pro I recommend to translate it manualy with copy and past.
Best regards Martin
