The plugin is supposed to be supported directly by www.remarpro.com, but it seems that they don’t care. Could you please www.remarpro.com solve this bug? I converted many categories to tags for many many posts. But all the posts disseppeared. How can I find them? Even I turn again tags to category, there is no post to convert. Where the posts were stored?

Due to constant hacking and recommendation from WPMU DEV support, we need to reinstall the Finoptis and Finoptis Child themes. Will that overwrite changes made to the site under the child theme? We’re using a staging site, of course. Thank you!

I need to convert Product sub-categories to tags. However, when I run the converter, the categories are not listed. Post categories are listed instead. Am I missing something? Thank you!

After converting a category to tag, the posts that were associated with the said category aren’t displayed in the new tag that was created (the tag section in the dashboard).
The tag shows 0 posts in the Count column. However, when clicking [view], it opens this tag page of the site and all the posts are listed. When clicking the 0 in the count column – it open a new window and the posts are listed.

in addition, when converting back this tag to category, the same occur – the posts that were associated with the said category still aren’t displayed in the count column – it shows 0.

I Received An Email From Wordfence That ( The Plugin “Categories to Tags Converter” appears to be abandoned (updated October 16, 2014, tested to WP 4.1.32). As Of Now I Have Some Plugins Disabled but, Plan To Re Enable One by One. I Was checking Something else.

This plugin isn’t supported anymore… why? If it’s deprecated, why is it still referenced under the admin ‘Tools’ tab in the latest version of WordPress (4.9.4)???

The plugin throws a warning on modern versions of php:

Deprecated: Methods with the same name as their class will not be constructors in a future version of PHP; WP_Categories_to_Tags has a deprecated constructor in /path/to/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/wpcat2tag-importer/wpcat2tag-importer.php on line 31

The fix is trivial, on line 483 in wpcat2tag-importer.php change:

function WP_Categories_to_Tags() {
    // Do nothing.
}

to:

function __construct() {
    // Do nothing.
}

or, better yet, simply delete lines 483-485, since they very clearly “do nothing”. ??

I really like this plugin. I also like the opportunity to embed my Tag Cloud into a full-width, navigational page. To do that, I’m currently using the Tag Cloud Shortcode plugin which gives me this result: https://toolbox-4-websites.com/category-tags/.

My concern is that both of these plugins are over 2 years old. The converter was developed by the .org team, and the shortcode plugin was developed by an individual.

Is it possible to integrate the functions of BOTH these plugins into the CORE of WordPress 3.5.1 and 3.6? I was thinking that if they are part of the Core, they won’t become outdated.

I tried converting categories to tags, not realizing that that meant that the categories would no longer exist. (?) So I tried converting them back, tags to categories, but the categories still don’t show up. There in the admin section, but not on site. HELP! Please!

I just imported a blogger blog and have some 421 categories. I would like to convert them to tags. However nothing happens when I click the button. What is going on?

What’s the status of this tag/category convertor plugin? The last update was on 2010-6-18, and it’s now two versions behind. At the same time, it has prominent links on the category/tag pages in WordPress 3.2.x.

Is there a 3.2 update pending?

I used this Plugins on wp 3.2
now some categories are gone, i can’t get them back.
it looks like they are some where but you can’t see them .

I rated this plugin 5 stars and I recorded that the plugin works with the installed version of WordPress I’m using.

The readme.txt file, associated with this plugin, only shows compatibility with WordPress, up to version 3.0.3 while the compatibility information displayed on the plugin directory page shows it is compatible to WordPress 3.0.4

I’m wondering why is there no procedure in place to make sure the readme.txt file is kept up to date. There are thousands of WordPress plugins available in the plugin directory, yet only a limited few have an up do date readme.txt file.

Certainly created the categories to tags, but it deleted 12 of 22 categories. Didn’t back up before I activated, so my bad.

But . . . . . grrrrr. Have to go back and recreate the whole menu – another 2 hours wasted.

[edit add – just reactivated and read the instructions – duh – you clearly state it creates orphans. the problem now seems that it is somehow effecting slugs]

I like the fact you can convert your tags to categories very easily with this converter but would like to see the option to add them straight to a parent category meaning they create subcategories from the converted tags in the parent of your choice.

This would be great.

except the primary. Dumped everything into the primary category and now I have to go back and re-assign 300+ posts to the right category. Beyond pissed at the moment.
