Since moving a site using this plugin to PHP 7.2, I’ve noticed this in my Web server logs:
PHP Warning: Use of undefined constant username - assumed 'username' (this will throw an Error in a future version of PHP) in /var/www/html/mysite.name.here/wp-content/plugins/wp-twitter-feed/class-frontend.php on line 52
There are a couple dozen instances of this, because a lot of the calls to members of $wptf in class-frontend.php aren’t quoted like they should be.
On a lark, I tried single-quoting all those references, but then the plugin doesn’t seem to work.
So, heads-up, while this plugin presently works (PHP 7.2, WordPress 5.0), it’s likely to break in the future.

I am getting a problem with Twitter Feed Pro: Default error message is appearing. The connection error message is pretty constant: “Twitter cannot show tweets right now. Please try again.”
Now, I am told by my WordPress Admin panel that Version of 2.0.1 of Twitter Feed Pro is available. This seems like good news. So I downloaded and installed it.
But when I did this, it seemed that I was reverted back simply to the “non-pro” version of 2.0.1, for which I had just paid $20. So now really confused. I then reverted BACK to the pro version, which is the one I am continuing to be stuck on.
I have triple-checked all my Twitter app settings (these magic Secret codes and tokens and what have you), which were a great palava to set up. Anyway, they all seem to be matching what is in the WordPress Admin panel, but still getting the error message.
My site is:

Would really appreciate some guidance on this…!
Totally stuck!
Very best wishes,

Hi Alex,
I’m trying to get the free version of your plugin to work. I’ve entered the shortcode with the twitter widget ID in place but I get the error message:
The connection to twitter has returned an error. Please try again later.
Of course, I have checked my code and as you can see on this test site, the twitter widget ID I have is working fine in the twitter native timeline embed and also in the Jetpack plugin: https://timbaggaley.co.uk/sketch/
I particularly liked your feature of showing only the tweets of the last seven days, I realise I will need the Pro version to get this feature back but as I’m sure you will understand, I need to see the free version working again before I buy.
Please advise
Tim, London
I tried using the short code and php lines and neither way worked. All I get is the “Tweets by username”. No tweets show.
]]>hi there
if you look at my site https://www.rochbar.com/testingsite/
i have the twitter feed on the right – however when the slides on that page animate you will notice (in safari and chrome) that the body of the twitter feed kinda glows as the sliders animate…
i had this issue with other links on the site but overcome them by using this in the css…
body {
-webkit-font-smoothing: antialiased; /* Fix for webkit rendering */
font-smooth:always;
-webkit-text-stroke: 0.5px;
}
i was wondering if htere was a way to implement that into the twitter feed css so that it doesnt glow when the sliders animate…. i tried adding it to the admin.css but that didnt work – i presume the css is held elsewhere?!
please let me know what i can do thanks in advance!!
]]>Hi,
I saw in another thread to use num=”1″ in the shortcode to limit the number of tweets displayed. I’ve set mine to num=”3″ but it is still showing the entire timeline. Has this changed or does it still work?

It does keep my other customizations like link-color and data-chrome. Can anyone help me with this?

Hi there,
I just noticed the twitter feed didn’t work anymore, so I logged and see I need to update it. So in the sidebar I add the shortcode in a text widget, but it keeps saying:
Twitter Feed is not set up properly, click here to configure and read the new instructions
What do I need to do?
]]>Hi, I’ve had your twitter feed plugin for a while, but now that the old version doesn’t work I’m trying to find the code for your plugin in my website in order to either change to the Twitter plugin or potentially changing to your pro version.
My website developer no longer works with us and I’m a little limited on website design. Any pointers to how I could find where she input the code for the plugin? My website is thelightinhereyesmovie.com and I’m using Thesis for themes.
Thanks in advanced!
]]>Please read this important information about the Twitter Feed Plugin.
This message shows up everywhere in the dashboard, despite clicking the message itself. Plug in looks great, just this could get annoying quickly haha. How do i get that to no longer show up?
And is there any way to hard set the width if I want it to break out of the frame its placed in?
]]>First of all – thanks for a great plugin.
I’ve seen that this forum has had more threads about this problem, but none of them seem to offer the solution, and in any case, I can’t react to those anymore because they are closed.
I keep getting “The connection to twitter has returned an error. Please try again later.” when I put the shortcode in the sidebar of my site. (www.earthchartervrienden.org) Sometimes however, the plugin works fine. Then a few minutes later it will fail to connect again.
I have read that the problem is with Twitter – that the site might be down or something. But it happens a lot, and Twitter seems to be fine. Is there any other possible explanation and solution for this? Help is much appreciated. I’d like to keep using this plugin because it’s so simple and customizable.
Many thanks!
]]>Hello,
We are using your plugin on a number of HTTPS-only websites. Due to it having hard-coded links to “https://”, this triggers security errors on the pages that include the Twitter Feed.
Could you plesae update the plugin to take HTTPS into account and make the requests from Twitter accordingly?
Thank you,
Mihnea
Bonjour All,
I have a site that incorporates this plugin and I am really pleased with the results. The only issue I have is that if the Twitter account that I have connected does not make a posting within a couple of days, the postings on my site disappear (not good!).
Apologies if someone has asked this before but is there some sort of cache day limit that the plugin will remember posts? Or is there some sort of option that I can put into the code that will stop this happening.
Thanks for any replies in advance!

]]>Hi,
On my page https://www.lymediseaseaction.org.uk/ tweets with URLs in the tweet are not being displayed.
I did a bit of searching and this appears to be a problem with twitter.

Is there anything I or the plugin can do to get around the problem ?

Hi Alex,
Would you know what I would need to change to prevent the use of ‘&’ in a tweet from being displayed as ‘& amp;’ (but then withouth the space between & and amp (otherwise it codes))?
See use of Twitterfeed on https://www.vrouwenkamer.nl.
Thanks in advance.
Kind regards,
Nanette
Twitter will be ending their RSS support next month will you plugin utilize OAuth?
