I would like to report a scammed extension:WP Symposium Pro
I paid 50 dollars to buy this extension in last year, it only give 7 days for refund claim, he told me that his extension will be able to do everything for my site, after installing it, I find that it is not good and asked him questions, he answered me other things to lose money time, on the 5th day, I asked him for the refund, he tried to hang around and 7 days passed, he refused me the refund it triggered the recurring payment on Paypal and having debited another 100 dollars to this year, now he refused to refund me the 100 dollars, I do not know how to contact the person in charge of WordPress so that he stops the collaboration with this scammed company.
I hope people, especially not buy the scammed extension from this company.
I am having problems with the order of posts in the WP Symposium Pro Forum on my website. That is, new posts don’t go to the top of all posts. Sometimes there is an option to pin post to the top, but it’s not always there, and once I do that, I cant undo it. If you look at the page, you will see the posts are all out of chronological order. How do I fix that? Thank you

First, is this project abandoned? Your web page seems to be completely non-functional.
On the off-chance that it isn’t, I wanted to check an issue reported by-one of our users, who found out that his browser froze whenever he tried to make a forum post. After a bit of trial and error I found that it was because it contained the following string.
“Big data: the end of the scientific method?”
Turns out that you can’t post to a Symposium Pro forum if the post contains the *word* ‘data’ followed by a colon (with an optional space in between). That is ‘data:’ or ‘data :’ in your post will cause the process to hang when you click ‘Submit’ (but e.g. ‘ddata:’ will not).
Repeatable across multiple browsers.
Any idea if and how this can be fixed?

When you click on that, the comtnet of the host is not displayed, just the titel.
The disappearance also happens if you attempt to navigate using the menu.

I’m trying to work out if WP Symposium is for me. My main criteria, aside from the social/forum aspects is the ability to allow users and viewers different levels of access to the forum.
For example, some of my subscribers will be rated at ‘Bronze’, meaning they can see some posts and not others. More importantly, I’d like them to be able to see the subject topics but not the content.
This is the same for non-logged in users. All non-logged in users can see the topic titles but not the content.
Is this possible with WPS?

I hope I’m not that daft, but the shortcode [wps-login-form url=”/profile”] doesn’t seem to give me the login form and button for registration even after I log out to test it. I’m working on a localhost, then I decided to try it on a live website but neither sites show the form. I’m using the Avada theme, and I turned off all 3 plugins to see if it was a conflict. So I’m baffled. Any suggestions anyone? Thanks.

I’m not certain this is plugin related, but it was suggested I post this here.
In the plugin there is a report option to report forum posts.
I have traced the code to right before the apply_filters() function call, and immediately after the function call, the ‘@’ sign has been removed the admin email address.
For some reason the apply_filters is removing the ‘@’ symbol on my system and on two other sites (a staging site on my host, and my local development machine.
However, this is not occurring on the plugin authors sites or test servers.
I’m trying to figure out what is causing this behavior.

The plugin was installed a while back (months) but I got a 404 error pointing to /wp-content/plugins/wp-symposium/readme.txt on my WP installation.
Can there be any trace of this plugin in the database? If so, how to delete it?

Hello, I am installing the simple free plugin for now (I’m being given the full license from someone else, in a month or so). I am very familiar with the paid plugin but I’m having trouble with this free one. I have installed the plugin and added my pages: Profile, Forums, Edit Profile, Change Avatar. I also added a few spiffy shortcodes (adding Friends) to the profile page sidebars.
However, how do people start creating a profile on my site? I saw the shortcode for “join site” but it does nothing when I add it to a page or widget area. In the paid version, there is the “register/login” but I don’t know the shortcode for clicking the then creating profile on this free version.

No question, just a suggestion for future upgrade. I really like WP Symposium PRO and I’ve purchased 2 so far, but I wish that the WP blog feature didn’t disappear as you install this plugin. I understand why they can’t work together but maybe for a future upgrade, the site owner/company can keep their blog (so they can put it on their front page, perhaps) while allowing WP PRO users to keep their walls. I can’t use this plugin for a friend’s website because he doesn’t want to get rid of his personal blog.

I’m wondering or we can use your plugin for activity streams next to the profile plugin. So what we need is that every registered user has his own activities. Is there a way to sync your activity wall with extern registered users?

A user asked me if I can make it to work for your plugin too. To be able to add links to the content of your plugin, I need to know if ther eare any hooks I can add a filter to so I can add links in content generated by WPS.
The user specified that the most important is to make the forum work.
]]>I’ve had this plugin and the paid extensions, for a week now and despite MANY hours of tech support and trying to make it work, it’s STILL not working and I’m at my wits end because it looks really bad that I have half of it working and its also leaving me open to legal troubles.
I have been able to figure out many of the problems on my own but this last one WONT BUDGE and the developer tells me its a plug in issue but I’ve disabled them all (yes & cleared the cache on both the front & back ends as well as the master on my server) and it’s not changed anything!
The problem is on this page . The first issue was that the extensions were not displaying properly and after 3+ hours with the developer couldn’t resolve it I ended up figuring out a work around by using a table and putting the codes in the text cells.
Now I have three action codes that won’t work in those cells and despite more than 20+ hours of effort these dam things STILL wont work. The codes I’m trying to place on the page are: [wps-mail-to-user label=”private message”], [wps-friends-add-button] & [wps-friends-pending] but no matter what they just wont pass through to the front end.
Can anyone PLEASE HELP me figure this out?
