After updating to WordPress 5.x with the new Gutenberg editor (I’m currently running 5.1.1), the preview of the SEO title/summary no longer updates dynamically as changes are made in the editor. When I input a post excerpt for instance, I have to refresh the page to see the SEO formatted summary and character count. Under the previous version of WordPress, this would update dynamically without having to reload the page. It’s much more cumbersome to optimize the SEO attributes now with the loss of this feature. I wanted to flag this as a possible bug under the latest version.

If you use umlauts like ?,?,ü or ? in the page content, these characters are not shown at the meta tags. It is displayed like this: <meta property="og:description" content="einschlie? lich

Responsible for this is line 288 at includes/global/parser.php: $content = preg_replace( '/\s+/', ' ', $content );

In the instructions for Bing, step 7 says to paste the meta tag into the Meta Verifcation field of WP Simple SEO.

I may have missed it, but i couldn’t see it.

Where is this section?

Since installing this plugin I have noticed its interfering with share link thumbnails. I have disabled the plugin and all works fine now, please sort the issue out asap as I can no longer us it.

Social networks like Facebook take information from HTML header meta tag and i check the meta tag and it is correct

So the problem is obvious. seo creates another set of information and Facebook picks the wrong one.

I love the simplicity and straightforward approach to this plugin. Was excited to try out the free version on multisite with hopes of getting a premium license to unlock the additional features, but then a few hours after installing my site crashed and found this error in my logs:

Disabling the plugin by renaming the folder resolved the issue and site came back up immediately. Any idea what’s causing this or how it can be corrected?

get_post_type_archive_post_type() is called statically in includes/global/meta.php:198 since it’s the only use of this method, I’d suggest just making the method static in includes/global/common.php:31.

I would like to know how to make the site’s title and site description work in the meta> home page section.
must a tag necessarily be inserted? if so, what is the configuration of the site to customize?
if not, can we freely write text in the title and description part because it does not work (I did it 10 days ago and on google it automatically selects content from my site)

When using {post_date} in the post metadata the plugin formats it quite unsexy, eg:

Simple SEO seems to ignore the date format settings you can make in WordPress. Any reason for this format instead of the WP default? Any way to override this?

I just have a general enquiry. When setting the categories page and tag pages to noindex what is the setting for follow/nofollow. In Yoast you get the option to noindex but follow, that way the link score is carried but the page is not indexed.

I am wanting to dump Yoast and replace it. Your plugin looks wonderful BUT it says English Version Not Yet Available.
Is that correct as you have English installation docs and the images on your site seem to be English.

This is very neat plugin however I have noticed my site title is doubled on a single post & pages. Everything seems to be OK, I use default settings and previews in the editor are good.
On the homepage, title is ok, on any post page is doubled.

This seems to be some theme incompatibility.

Latest WP + Expositio theme used.

Any ideas?

“/> symbol is seen on my homepage (frontend) at above header and left corner. Only on homepage, other pages are ok.

My site has been set up to have no trail slash at the end of home url. It’s been adjusted accordingly also on wordpress settings-general. But when I view the source code of main page, also when I see the snippet preview of your plugin on backend of the page, I see trail slash as canonical url. Could this be causing the problem? Or maybe something else..I have no idea.
