Hi Lester, on the same page, the plugin has 2 different behaviors :
All my show/hide links are suddenly displaying the text like “Show Press Release (7 More Words)”
It seems to be ignoring the type text that I put into the shortcode. For example:
[showhide type=“answer1”]
Clydesdales
[/showhide]
Instead, this displays “Show Press Release (1 More Words)”
This looks really bad on my site and unfortunately I have thousands of these inserted across hundreds of posts. These are question and answers, not press releases.
Would appreciate if you could look into this. Did a recent update break this function?
This used to be a great plugin, but it can’t be formatted anymore and there is NO feedback from the developer. Is this still being supported?
So is show/hide not supported anymore?
This was a great plugin, but its become impossible to format in bold and preserve appropriate spacing and NO response from the developer.
Help. I've been using show/hide for years now and love it. BUT very recently something changed and I can't get it to work the way it used to.
I used to be able to format the the "Show More" text to be BOLD just by using this coding [showhide type="post" more_text="Show more..." less_text="Show less..."] The coding was simply[showhide type="post" more_text="Show more..." less_text="Show less..."] That put just the words "Show more..." and "Show less..." in bold. And only that text became bold. Nothing else.
NOW that exact same coding makes ALL text hidden between [showhide type="post".... and "[/showhide] bold -- not just the "Show more" and "Show less" text.
I tried coding it as [showhide type="post" more_text="Show more…" less_text="Show less…"</strong] That looks perfect until you click on "show more" when it leaves Show more text... visible above the formerly hidden text.
I also tried "more_text=/show more...</strong" and I think one other permutation. Both looked great but gave me this weird "show press release" text in the post!
This worked so perfectly for so long, and technically, it still does, except I can't give the "Show more..." the emphasis I want.
Is there a way to code this so I can get "Show more..." and "Show less..." to have the wording I choose in bold without making all the text between that point and the [/showhide] bold too?
This does seem to be still working the way I want in previous posts, I just can't get it to work in new posts (or probably if I go to update a post.)
Also The line spacing after “show more…” no longer works correctly either. It's not leaving any space between it and the text below. I've tried adding a line, but it isn't working
I'm in the latest version of WordPress using the classic editor.
How can I make this work the way I want again?

Might there be a way that we could make the “hide text” link display at the bottom of the expanded content as opposed to at the top? Would seem a bit more logical?
On the site https://brain-help.ru/ in the services section, when you click on the link to read further, the links do not open correctly.
There are three columns, and the text is revealed all the time only in the first column, even if you click on another column

Is there a way to remove the “(## More Words)” text within show more?
Is it possible to have the shortcode within a block of text (itself within a table for stylistic purposes showing something like ‘Show/ Hide Content’ and have the actual content to be shown further down the page? I would be more than happy to pay for a feature, having tried a variety of html/ js solutions, none of which do what I require.
Essentially my desired setup is;

|[image]| Content
|[spans]| Content
|[four]| Content
|[rows]| [shortcode]

[hidden content]

|[image]| Content
|[spans]| Content
|[four]| Content
|[rows]| [shortcode]

[hidden content]

|[image]| Content
|[spans]| Content
|[four]| Content
|[rows]| [shortcode]

[hidden content]
And so on
I LOVE this plugin, but when updating to WordPress 5.6 and php 7.4 it no longer works properly. When I click on “show more” it bumps me all the way up to the top of the page instead of opening the text below.
I can’t have my site not working and it isn’t clear to me that there is any intent to maintain this plug, so I am going to start transitioning to something else. . . . BUT I would keep using this if it were fixed.
It really worked well up until now and I’d really like to keep using it.

it works on desktop but not on mobile device is that a bug?

Thanks.
I’m trying to use this for multiple blocks of text on a single page. At first glance, it looks like it works, but it keeps opening same (first) block of text for every showhide instruction. I made sure to [/showhide] at the end of each one before starting the next one. What am I doing wrong?
Hi,
Is it possible to add the showhide shortcode via PHP? At this moment I use:
$string = ”;
$shortcode = ‘showhide type=”post” more_text=”More” less_text=”Less”‘;
$string .= do_shortcode(‘[‘.$shortcode.’]’);
$string .= ‘TEXT’;
$shortcode2 = “/showhide”;
$string .= do_shortcode(‘[‘.$shortcode2.’]’);
return($string);
The firdt shortcode is recognized just fine, but then it goes wrong :-(:
More
TEXT[/showhide]
Any ideas?
Kind regards,
Martijn
Hello there! It is, of course, a great plugin but I want to show the hidden text in some colored background. Can you please help me with this.
Hi Lester Chan, I saw that there were other support topics about this, but I didn’t see a resolution…How do I remove the paragraph break that occurs with the show/hide as is? I’m really looking forward to using this show/hide text in my website, thank you so much for developing and for your support!
Hi,
This is a great code.
How do I;
1. Change ‘press release’ text to ‘continue reading’?
2. Remove the word count in brackets?
3. Remove ‘show’ and ‘hide’ words
Eg: Show Press Release (257 More Words)
Thank you.

[video src="/video/....video.......mp4"]
.... some text .....

is there any api docs available for this plugin ? and if not add them as soon as possible
Just update my wp version and now show/hide is doing odd things . . . it works fine early in the post, but as I add additional links the last ones don’t work – you can’t open them. And some of the earlier ones quit working if they have been opened and closed – you can’t open them again. It’s as if it isn’t seeing the link . . . I’m using Divi to build my www.remarpro.com site. I have the WPshowhide plugin installed and would like to customize the font size, type, and color that shows up when it says “Show more…”. But I can’t figure out how to do it and need help.
Here’s the CSS code I’m using: span#post-toggle-50 { font-family: ‘Montserrat’; font-size: 18px; font-weight: bold; color: #66BC1B ; }
I know nothing about CSS. Apparently, I’m doing something wrong because the font isn’t changing to meet the specifications I want. Help please!
