Hi,
I’m just wondering if I can set starting and ending color via a short css ?
Hi,
What’s the class name to “display:none” if I want to hide the bar ?
Looks like this works #ruigehond006_wrap but the name seems unexpected to me.
Thanks
Hey,
First of all, thank you for creating such a great plugin, I really appreciate it!
I’m having an issue with the progress moving to the top of my sticky nav bar, when the bar technically starts to stick.
It it in the correct place initially (as hopefully you can see on the example post provided), but then it jumps to the top of the header.
The class name is .wprsticky-wrapper, then it changes to .wprsticky-wrapper is-wprsticky. I’ve tried adding both of those in the ‘stick the bar to this element’, and tried class IDs instead but it doesn’t seem to be working.
My CSS is also a bit rough, so please explain it to me like I’m 5 if there’s a solution ??
Many thanks ??
Hello,
I have been using your WP Reading Progress plugin on my WordPress website, and I must say it’s been a fantastic addition to enhancing the user experience on individual post pages.
However, I’ve encountered a slight hurdle regarding its display. While the progress bar appears seamlessly on post pages, I’m eager to extend this functionality to the homepage/front page of my website as well.
Could you kindly advise on how I might achieve this? I’ve explored the plugin settings thoroughly but couldn’t find an option to enable the progress bar on the homepage.
Your guidance on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for developing such a useful plugin, and I look forward to your response.
On our site we occasionally use iframe embeds. The moment such an embed is used, reading time comes down to 1 minute, no matter how long the rest of the post is. Is there a way I can solve this?
Hello Joeri,
Thank you for your work, I think it has been the smoothest implementation of progress bar in WordPress so far ??
I noticed something: in my posts, the progress bar is including the comments, thus when I have a lost of comments in a post, the reading bar is not calculated based on the real length of the article.
Is the behaviour of the progress bar calculated this way on the purpose? Could we have a checkbox in the settings which can parametrized this behaviour?
Thanks,
Is there any way to make the background transparent? It’s kind of off-black at the moment, but my header is black so I’d like it to be transparent.
I’ve looked around in the CSS to try and pick it apart but can’t find where it is.
Hi there,
Thank you for making this plugin. I’m WAAAY beyond my capabilities. I’ve read the support forum, and I’ve tried to follow the solutions posed. I’ve identified what I think is the element (after pressing F12), but the sticky portion is actually from the Divi Libary.
Using Copy Element just for the Divi Library global section, it shows:

== 0
I think I’ve tried every combination for the Stick the bar to this element
field. Examples of what I’ve tried include #post-21425, [#post-21425], id="post-21425"
, etc.
I am sure I’m just missing something simple. Can you assist please?
BTW, if I use top
or bottom
, it works. But I want it underneath the “INSIGHT < Post title>” section.
Thanks in advance.
Hi Joeri,
First of all thank you for this great plugin! I would like to use it for single posts only on tablet and mobile, since for desktop I use a side bar with a table of contents where the readers can track their progress.
Is it possible to deactivate the progress bar for desktop only?
Thank you very much in advance,
Andre
Hi,
what do I have to exclude in WP-Fastest-Cache because the reading process bar is not shown.
Thank you!
Hi Joeri,
First of all, thank you for your plugin it works and looks really great. One of the best out there.
I was able to put the bar below the mobile header, but the problem I am facing is that the desktop header has a different selector.
I tried putting both in the “Stick the bar to this element” box, with a comma and without:
#mobile-header #inside-header
It only works for one.
Is there something I can do?
Thanks,
Eddie
Hi i am not sure which element class i should put to make it appear below the sticky menu.

i test my URL at lighthouse, and i got these warning :
ARIA progressbar elements do not have accessible names.
<div id=”ruigehond006_bar” role=”progressbar” style=”background-color: rgb(49, 117, 228); width: 0%;”>
how to fix it ?
thanks
Hello Joeri,
First, I really like the implementation of this add-on, and I gave it a 5 star review. Thank you for providing it for free.
I targeted my sticky header with its CSS class to get the bar to appear below it. It’s working almost perfectly, except on mobile the progress bar overlaps the drop down hamburger menu in the header. I set the Z-index on my header to 1 to try and get the header to appear above the progress bar, but it’s still not working.
How do I get the progress bar to appear below the drop down menu on mobile?
Thank you for your help!
Hi, I’m new to CSS can you explain step by step how could I insert the progress bar so it will be shown at the bottom of my sticky header…
And I want also to show inside the bar the title of the post. like on this website.
Thank you in advance.
Hello any workaround on the issue with render-blocking resources on mobile?
wp-reading-progress/wp-reading-progress.min.css got the highest amoong other css
Hi Joeri,
In the settings I try to set the location to the bottom of my sticky header.
What should I put there to make that happen?
Thanks for the great plugin.
Just added a Swedish translation, as a thank you for this plugin (currently working far better than all alternatives I’ve tried so far).
I think the “Use whole page to calculate reading progress” option actually makes sense, for users who may want sidebars (and such) included in the progress bar calculation for responsive layouts shifting such content to the bottom of the page. So I see no reason to remove it, as has been suggested.
For my use case I’d prefer not having this option checked, though, but when I do uncheck it the progress bar never starts at 0% even with when I check “Make bar start at 0%”. So, for now, I’m using the full page height for my progress bar as a workaround.
But I’d really prefer not to, if I was only able to force the progress bar to really start at zero. ??
Hi,
I use Elementor for my site and I’m trying to enable the reading progress bar on certain pages. However, the option is missing when I enter the edit page section. I remember it in the past showing there on the sidebar but maybe now it disappeared due to the recent update of WordPress to 5.6, I’m not sure. Could you please advice me how to access the option?
Thanks a lot,
Barnabas
Hello, I seem to have problem with displaying progress bar for ordinary users. Everything works okay when I am logged in as admin, but when browsing as logged-out user, progress bar doesnt show on posts. On pages its ok.
Any suggestions? Thanks!
can you fix this?
Deprecated: implode(): Passing glue string after array is deprecated. Swap the parameters in /www/.../public/wp-content/plugins/wp-reading-progress/wp-reading-progress.php on line 71
thank you
Hi Joeri,
love your plugin, especially love that it excludes comments and such!
My only issue is that the progress bar doesnt seem to show up in Dark Mode, neither on desktop nor on mobile.
Any ideas how I could fix this?
Many thanks in advance!
Agnes
Hi, thanks for the great plugin. Work like a charm!
However I noticed it takes the entire page height to calculate the progress instead of the actual content.
Is there a way to exclude the comments, related posts etc. from being accounted for the reading progress?
Hi. Is there an option for using the plugin on a specific page?
I don’t know if it’s just my site. But it seems that it no longer works as expected?
It takes some time for it to start “painting” in the top of my page.
