I really like this little plugin. Does what I need it to do with enough customization capability. I use Elementor Pro as my builder and the Hello Elementor theme and I had no problems getting this to work as needed.

Installing this plugin forced a width constraint on my pages where blocks no longer respected vertical align settings. Only resolved by deactivating the plugin.

My gallery pages have complex rules, and it was a struggle to find a lightbox that didn’t add to my complexity. This one works correctly with gutenberg blocks and with the if/then code snippets I’m utilizing. No baked-in CSS to fight with, either. Thank you!

Does not do its main job of popup of the exact post content when used in a post loop output (archive, slides, carousel etc). It keeps showing the content of the first post in the query.

The above struckout review was before I managed to troubleshoot the issue. No help was forthcoming from the developer for free user.

The issue got resolved by putting the modal class at a lower level. Changed the blog archive plugin to something which allowed setting class at the post level. The plugin used earlier allowed class assignment only at the parent (container) level.

A good plugin if the following issues wouldnt appear:
– admin backend spam
– PopUp reacts slowly
On the other hand a very good plugin. You can show any page or post in a popUp!

You can only use the URL trigger now. It has a bug in the codes as TrishaM said below. Even their doc’s debugging URL is not working properly. You can check the debugging URL on their document. It returns a 403 error.

I don’t know why the developer doesn’t fix this bug. They updated the plugin 3 days ago but the bug still exists.

This plugin works very well BUT currently has a bug that requires fixing, if you’re comfortable downloading the plugin’s files, fixing 2 lines in one file and then uploading the fixed file and then NOT updating the plugin without re-editing that file (until the developer fixes it) then this will do what it says – take any Post or Page content and open it (without the header/sidebars/footer, literally just the_content() ) and open it in a modal overlay.

Once the developer fixes this tiny error in his plugin, I would upgrade my review to 4 stars. I’d honestly give it 5 stars if the documentation was also clearer, while it’s truly a brilliant plugin, and offers nice extras in it’s settings as well as making it simple to change the default styles, the documentation is not for newbies. Understanding the correlation between manually selecting exactly what content on the Page/Post goes into the overlay (if you don’t want all of the_content) by wrapping that in a div with an id, and then DEselecting the “Use Rest API” option isn’t really clear at all.

Overall I’m happy with it, and if the bug gets fixed so I can let auto-updating do it’s thing, I’ll be even happier and will upgrade my review.

Want to know how to fix the bug yourself? (yes this has been reported in the Support forum for this plugin but the developer hasn’t fixed it yet nor replied).

1. Download and unzip the plugin;
2. Go to /public folder where you’ll find class-wp-post-modal-public.php;
3. Search for the word ‘published’ (as of the current version 3.7.0 there are 3 instances on lines 186-188, only 2 require editing but you can edit all 3);
4. Change the word ‘published’ to ‘publish’ – this refers to a Post Status, and there is no such status of ‘published’ in WP, it is properly called just ‘publish’;
5. Save the file and upload it over the one that came with the plugin if you’ve already installed it.

Remember that if you do this, it will get overwritten if the plugin gets updated, automatically or manually and you’ll have to re-do these steps until the developer fixes it himself.

If you can do this, and patiently work your way thru the documentation, and do some testing, you can get it to work and it works great.

Great plugin with clean code. Works great out of the box and can easily be modified.

there are two messages on the settings page that ask for a review and inform you that there is a paid support option. If you give a negative review for this (while using this FREE plugin) you suck and are a terrible person …

The plugin DEMANDS I provide a review: TWO windowed messages on the top of the Admin page. 1) “Thanks for installing WP Post Popup! Please click here to give us a review :)” and 2) “WP Post Popup: I will start offering an option to purchase 6 month of support for $30. I will no longer field questions that are sent by email or in the www.remarpro.com forums. I hope that everyone will do their part in supporting this open source project.”

While both have [X] in the upper right, neither one is dismissable. Therefore, I will be removing the plugin.

Those boxes at the top of every page are extremely annoying, very difficult to get rid of, and once you succeed in clicking on the ‘x’ button, the next time you log-in, they’re back again.

Without these irritating ‘reminders’ I’d give the plug-in 4 stars, now only 1.
