here is my question:
How to auto Generate a password for new user or sending random password when users reset password?
Thanks
Alex
Hi
The Strength indicator does not update after a password is generated, I have to show the password, copy and paste it into the password field to get it to update.
]]>It’s stated in the FAQ that:
Since version 2.2 WP Password Generator has used the pluggable function wp_generate_password() to handle the actual generation of passwords. This switch a) kept the codebase more DRY and b) allows users to easily override the generator logic without editing core or plugin files.
I think developers should be VERY carefull when overriding core-functions. In this case the wp_generate_password()-function is also used to generate wordpress session tokens and other random keys for security purpose. So keep this in mind when altering this function, so you do not reduce security!
]]>I want to start using your plugin but current I use this password generator now. The reason why I still use that is because it gives the phonetic output and yours doesn’t. Can you consider adding something like this?
]]>Hello,
I am requesting a small feature addition to your WP Password Generator Plugin.
It would be great to have two additional optional features
1)email new password to existing user upon profile edit and save
2)nag user to change password upon login.
These are present in Simple Password Generator pluign, but not your’s.
However, it does not allow SHOW PASSWORD and WP Password does.
We currently run WP Password Generator AND Simple Password Generator simultaneously (because WP Password does not include the email user and nag user to change features). These features are very helpful to automate distribution of newly created passwords and to prompt users to make their own password they can remember.
Both plugins coexist happily except that two different Generate Password button appear on the user profile and the SHOW PASSWORD option on WP Password will not show the passwords generated by Simple Password Generator, sooooo that is why we run them together.
If we do not need to see a password we can generate it with Simple Passwords, but if we need to see the password that has been generated then we use the WP Passwords button.
At least it all works, but it would be nice to have only one plugin to maintain.
Thanks for considering this request.

]]>As admin I have 2 Generate Password buttons & when signed in as a user, when in profile it also does the same thing. Is there a way to only have 1 Generate Password button?
Also, I know that all users can use the Generate Password… is there a way to only allow certain users to use this feature (admins only)?
Thanks,

]]>When I generate a password, the plugin automatically checks “Send this password to the new user by email”.
It would be nice if there was an option to disable this automatic check.

One, not for generating a new password, but for generating a new profile view access code people can view from the front end. Any ideas on this? Could your plugin be useful for that if modified or do you think I should code this from scratch?

]]>Would it be possible to have the option for the admin to choose the make up of the password? Now it is at random with #%$(&^)* and so on.
I know that is to make the passwords strong, but it is also a pain in the B… for many of my members. Not everybody really knows how to simply copy and paste (yah, I could not believe it also).
So an option to use only letters (small and capital) and numbers.
And if possible avoiding iI1oO0, since depending on font used they also look many times the same.
I know it is a really nonsence request, but my paying customers are complaining (well a few dumboos) and a password like Hyt53DExX97G4D3w is almost just as strong as hdt%34@CDf(7NJyg5

]]>Thanks, comes in really handy since I create all user/pwd (no open sign up).
I do not know if it is possible, but after a user is created and the admin clicks on the user edit, so goes to his/her profile I guess, could it be done that on that page the password is also shown. I know members can retrieve there password with the Lost password link, but as admin I would like to see the password.
Also (nothing to do with your plugin I guess), but an extra text field when creating a user, where the admin could write some text, that will also be sent to the user, when sending the username and password by email.
I know the plugins that give you possibility to change the email that is being sent, but it will still always be the same email and with the extra text box, the admin can write a message specific for that users needs when created.
Thanks and regards, Ron
