Horrible plugin that shows up on my contact form 7 as a large text field followed, on the next line, by “-9=4”. That’s hard to interpret, even for me. Then if you enter the incorrect answer, you either get a timeout or an error even if you subsequently enter a correct answer. Notice how the developer does not show you any screenshots of the plugin working? That’s because it’s awful.

After installing I tested adding of a comment as registered user – I had problem with this – no capcha asked, bud comment did not save and throwed a capcha error.
Unchecking “comment form ” in “Math Captcha settings” solved the problem.

I started getting far too many spam comments. The price you pay as a site’s popularity grows. I wanted something to slow the spammers but did not want a plugin that bloats my site and slows it down. Tested this simple plugin and…
Spam comments came almost to a complete halt. My pages load just as fast but I have a cdn and cache plugin. I did not want a heavy plugin that was contacting outside databases and slowing down my site and possibly negatively effecting serp results because of longer load times. This plugin works. It’s effective. It does not slow my site at all according to the waterfall at gtmetrix.com. People leave just as many real comments as before.

Ever wondered why this captcha even is a thing considering google re-captcha is so widely spread? Well some of us webmasters don’t want to let google spy on you.
Everytime you solve a google re-captcha by clicking that “i’m not a robot” button a signal with your computers unique fingerprint is sent to google and indexed in their massive database. Now google knows you authenticated to do something on a website url, a huge invasion of your privacy.
simple math captcha generates it’s math locally, no signals being sent to big brother and no need for your privacy to be broken.
Thanks to the developer for giving users a free alternative to the horrible google re-captcha.

Technically, it seems to work well.
According to my experience, the weakness is the following, especially with comments:
When the vsitor forgets to fill captcha or types a wrong captcha, they get a blank page telling them about the problem BUT with no “Back” button. They need to use their browser “Back” icon. It doesn’t feel professional.
On top of that, when back on the comment page, their comment has vanished. They need to type it again. Very inconvenient !
I told the team about that weakness (on this forum & on their website) but got no reaction… No reaction is another bad mark…
Consequence: I uninstalled this plugin and I use WPBruiser instead.

This plugin isn’t working properly; I’m either getting “invalid result” or “timeout” errors on a site I’m visiting as guest and where I know they have this plugin installed. And besides, from a usability point of view classic user input CAPTCHAs are outdated and not best practice anymore ([Link redacted]). It would be better to employ a [Link redacted] where the human user doesn’t have to do anything and which doesn’t break when using it normally.

This plugin does not work with Contact Form 7.
Based on my experience and many comments within the plugin support.
I’m not sure how this plugin perform with the core WP form submissions or BBPress submissions, but with CF7 this plugin is a ‘no-no’.

I have been using this plugin on several sites, and have had repeated issues when combined with WP Super Cache. It seems that the math question is cached, so users get a timeout message even if they answer the question within a short time.
I have raised a support ticket, without any answer from the author.
I have withdrawn this plugin from all sites and now use an antispam plugin instead.

Am using this plugin for login, registration, and password recovery forms, and it works great! It’s much too involved and demanding to enable on comment and contact forms (where I use other captcha plugins), but that’s what I was looking for — something more robust on the pages that grant site access. I’m very happy with how this has been working for me.
*Suggestion* — I love the ability to choose the type of operations (multiplications, divisions, etc). And, I love that the solution isn’t always at the end of the equation (e.g.: 7x?=21). That’s really great. I would also appreciate an option to select the number of operations. That is to say, the ability to enable more complex (multiple-step) math equations, such as 3x4+6=? — so, choosing 2 steps, 3 steps, 4 steps, etc. Not a deal-breaker by any means, but I feel it would make the site that much safer knowing it requires thought and intelligence to get beyond the login screen…
Overall, many thanks for this plugin!

Sites permalink structure with “/” Where did you remove that bit of “$” are you using?
