It would be easy to set a daily autosave timer, so every morning at 6 it will resave the HTaccess file orso.

I’ve just installed the plugin as I’m told I need to edit my HT Access file to prevent some spammy link/404 issues.
Here’s exactly what I’m told to do from the guide I’m using:

So basically, I’ve got to add this to the ht access file. But I’ve no idea what to do. Is this in place of any existing redirect rules in the file? Alongside other redirect rules? Where exactly in the HT access code do I put this snippet?
When I tried to put this above the first existing rewrite rule, the test feature told me it was incorrect.
For everything I’ve tried so far, when I test the changes, I always get the error message that the code syntax has failed and it will break the site. Strangely, I still get this error when I make NO changes to the code, so any help on getting this rewrite rule done correctly would be appreciated,

]]>I’m not entirely sure what might be going on, but I just tried to add this to a multi-site network where there were 7 preexisting sub-sites as a user that’s a Super Admin on top of being administrator for all sub-sites.
However, after activation, it isn’t showing the menu item under Settings in the Network Admin.
Instead, it’s still just adding the menu item to the Settings section for the sub-sites.
This goes against what the plugin description says of:
WP Htaccess Editor is fully compatible and tested with WP Network (WPMU). It shows up under the Settings menu in network admin. It’s not available in individual sites as there is only one htaccess file per network.

Is this happening for anyone else, or it this something to do with this particular WordPress Network setup (somehow not having network activated plugins work as such & instead has them act like they’re individually activated on all sites)?
That said, I have other plugins (such as Really Simple SSL, among others) that are network activated and their Network Admin settings show without issue (working like it knows it’s network activated instead of individually activated on the sub-sites.)
Seems like this just might not working as intended & could use further testing to make sure it is (make it so network activation has the settings only show in the network admin settings & not subsite settings.)
]]>I recently started having issues with some sites where I would get 403 Access denied errors on some of my sites. I was told by my host, if I deleted the htaccess files, I would probably be able to sign in again. This has worked a number of times. It seems that the htaccess file is auto created afte it is deleted. Would it be better to use this plugin and do a backup and then if there was a lock down, manually delete Htaccess file , sign in and then restore the backed up file. Does anyone know what causes this file getting coruppted?

Hi,
I had the message that.htaccess file is not writable.
I went to the file manager and checked the permissions which are set to 644. The public_html folder is set to 750.
I still can not save the .htaccess file from your plug in and get the following message: Could not write .htaccess file. Please check file permissions.
What can I do to solve this?

I am trying to use your WP Plugin to change my Htaccess file. Installed the plug in tried a TEST and I keep getting the message –
Test Failed
Failed to create test directory. Please check that your uploads folder is writable.
I changed the Upload folder permissions to 755 then to 777 and still get the same error message. Retried and the same happens.

Instead of checking if the current user is an administrator the plugin should check use th check is_super_admin(). This wil make no difference for regular wordpress functionality but will make the plugin safe to use on multisite.
Right now if that plugin is activated on a site in multisite a local site admin can edit the htaccess and bring down the whole network.

Each time I try to edit my .htaccess file through the plugin, I get the error that says: “There is an error in the .htaccess file and your site is probably no longer accessible,” and I have to restore the backup of the file. However, when I attempt to make the same change to my .htaccess file via another FTP service, it works perfectly.
The redirect I just added via a different FTP (that did not work through the plugin) was:

One potentially relevant detail is that our site has three WP installations, one on coeduc.org, one on coeduc.org/give, and one on coeduc.org/es. It doesn’t seem that that should be the cause for the error, though, because the plugin was working well for us until recently.
Can you help me determine what might be going wrong? I would love to be able to continue using your plugin because I have coworkers who want the ability to create redirects through the WP dashboard. Thank you!
