The plugin currently check if user has the capability of manage options (manage_options) it would be good if there was another check a for a custom capability that we can use it to allow non administrator users to manage
]]>Supporting .step files (CAD models) would be great! For now we packed them in a zip but want to avoid this, so until this plugin includes this file type (currently not in the list), I guess I have to use the wp-config method to allow all file types…
]]>Hi Davide,
perhaps you really have to alter the description of the plugin. It was a pain in the back to find the settings…
Cheers!
]]>Ciao!
Come posso risolvere?

Hi,
I used the plugin to be able to upload an SVG logo, I uploaded different sizes of the logo, and now I’m unable to delete any of them, even after deactivating the plugin. I get an error message : “Error in deleting the attachment.”.
Other formas of images usually uploaded by WP like JPG are still deletable . Thanks for your help .
While uploading files works as expected, downloads seem to be missing the Content-Type header and are thus failing on some browsers/platforms that require them.
Is this a known issue? Is there a workaround?
Thanks,
Felix
Gracias
]]>Morning,
Following your instructions in the ‘readme’ file, but once activating the plug-in, I go to add a ‘.exe’ into my media library and it still states ‘not supported file type’.
Does your plug-in support wp 5.9?
Also I think the directory was created automatically as I didn’t create this, so should I delete this and start all over again?
Thanks
]]>@davideairaghi first of all, thanks for creating this plugin. It makes having client-side control over individual file types via UI a breeze.
I have two questions regarding security:
1.) Upon install these are always pre-activated: .bz2|.tgz|.txz|.xz
Why is that? Is it for WordPress core, updates, etc? I believe all are compressed packages file types and as far I can reason then these must be active for WordPress core & updates. But I’m not sure and if they’re optional, I’d rather turn them off to minimize potential attacking surface.
2.) Currently using it with WP v5.8.2
Although the plugin not updated for a while; is it still safe & compatible to use nowadays? I do have some server-side security in place, but as I said above, this little plugin makes control & overview a bit easier to work with from the client side.
Hi
Is it possible for the user (the customer – one that doesnt have a wordpress account) to send you a file (for example pdf) with this plugin?
And is the connection safe?
I’m imagining a contact form with a file uploading feature.
Best regards
Sara
Hello, please update your plugin to new WP version. Thanks!

Hi there,
I have select those types of file I needed in the plugin but still can’t upload the files successfully.
The wrong message is the file type cannot be uploaded due to security reasons.
No matter what MIME Type I put in for DXF of all the available MIME types for DXF I cannot upload DXF Files without checking the box to just check the extension. I have tried ever single MIME type. Has anyone got this working?
]]>Hi there,
It appears that your plugin causes issues with Imagick. It causes wp_get_image_editor to return a WPError. Any help is appreciated.
]]>Hey guys,

No error messages or something.
I can’t upload my .dng files even after I add it to custom file types with the description, file extension, and mime type.
]]>Hi! Just checking out the plugin. Can it also be used to block the upload of supported files, like mp4 for example?
]]>Hi,
I downloaded and installed the plugin, I can see under “media” that lot’s of different format types are activated, also tff. But still, I get the same error message when trying to install a font in tff format. (Avada).
I am very new to this and I can’t and won’t manipulate the wp-config.php
Thanks for your answer
I’ve been using this plugin, with Gravity Forms, to allow users to fill out a form and upload a simple log file (filename.log). It’s been working great, but something broke within the last few months, and now these plain text files named filename.log are no longer able to be uploaded.
I’ve tried checking the 3 checkboxes, separately and together, with no success:
__ Check only file extensions: to be used only if you are unable to upload files you have enabled by selecting their type
__ Skip WordPress checks: to be used only if you want to manage all the file types by yourself, skipping internal WordPress lists and checks
__ Enable workaround for GravityForms: override standard behaviour – Beta version – WP-Extra-File-Types has been developed to integrate only with WordPress Media Library
Any other ideas or suggestions, to allow users to fill out a form and attach a small text file named filename.log?

]]>Hi, thanks for the plugin – I need to make some custom file uploads which work for the Admin role but get a security error for the Editor role.
How do you allow the editor role?
]]>First of all, WordPress says that .ppsx files are supposed to be uploadable to the Media Library. I have been able to upload them in the past. (I am running the last 4.9 version of WordPress. My site is on Bluehost.)
I made a change to a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation slideshow (.ppsx file type) that has been on my website and working well for about 6 months. When I try to upload the revised ppsx file to the Media Library, I get this message: “Sorry this type file is not permitted for security reasons.”
I installed the WP Extra File Types plugin and added the ppsx file type in settings as follows, but it still didn’t wouldn’t upload. This is what I added:
Description: MS PowerPoint Presentation
File Extension: ppsx
Mime Type: application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.presentationml.slideshow
Is this done correctly? I really need to get the file uploaded again. Help please.
]]>Is it possible to allow through the WPforms plug-in to upload .html files? I struggle to get it working, aslthough I tried all the possible set up options, including the different mime types, but text/html I believe is the correct.
Can you help please.
I’m having the same problem with Gravity Forms as a prior user (I replied to his post but there still has been no update). I can upload to the WP media library, but get a “file not supported” error when uploading through the form. I’m using WP v 5.1.1 & PHP v 7.1
]]>Hello,
I have already tried manually allow the heic image format to be uploaded to my site by adding the the upload_mimes filter in WordPress.
That only allowed me to upload these image types directly into the media library but I want to allow users to be able to upload these types of images from the front end, and I still got the ‘not allowed for security reasons’ error.
So I tried your plugin and ticked the heic box in the settings, nothing changed. Then I tried ticked the two other options ‘to be used only if you are unable to upload files you have enabled by selecting their type’ and also skipping WordPress checks.
But this lead to the following error: There was an problem while verifying your file.
Any ideas what the problem might be?
Thanks
Jo
