I realize this plugin is 2+ years old and there’ve been no comments from the dev in nearly that long. I’m writing on the off chance someone will see this and help.
I use this plugin successfully on sites that want NO comments anywhere and it still works. The site I’m working on now wants them turned off for all but ONE category. I thought I had it setup correctly but maybe I missed something. Here’s what I have…
in the plugin settings:
Where/When to disable
for specific categories
all BUT “the comma” category
in Discussion Settings
checked: comments allowed on any new articles
not checked: users must be registered and logged in
and they’re allowed for 21 days
comment must be approved is checked.
The comment box appears correctly only on the one desired category but when I try to post a comment on a brand new post I get: “Sorry, comments are closed for this item.”
Have I missed something? Is there any alternative to this plugin or coding tricks?
Thanks,
Sheila
This happens in Multisite and this plugin is activated in main blog (not Network Activated).
If this plugin is activated in main blog, add new site will show error page although a new site is still added.
I believe that there is some function will be missed in new blog.
If this plugin is deactivated in main blog (still activated in other blogs), add new site works normally.
This is not plugin conflict cause I’ve tried deactivate all plugin but only WP Disable Comments in main site and it still shows error page.
]]>Hi, your plugin throws an ‘undefined index’ (wp-disable-comments.php on line 412) when adding a new post – please use the DEBUG constant for developing, THANKS!
]]>I’m having trouble enabling comments on specific post categories while disabling all other commenting. Is this possible, if so can you walk me through an example please.
Thank you.
]]>Hi,
I understand this may be unique to the theme we are using, and we are contacting that developer as well.
At the top of each of our posts, in smaller gray type below the post headline, we have the post’s author, date, and then the words “No Comments”. You wouldn’t happen to know how you could remove the No Comments type would you? Other than that, the plugin works great as advertised.
]]>After I updated one of my sites, this error has been appearing all the time:
With debug on this is what shows up:
Undefined index: disable-pingbacks in wp-disable-comments.php on line 437
Notice: Undefined index: disable-checkboxes in wp-disable-comments.php on line 247
and in the comments on the admin dashboard, I see this one:
Notice: Undefined index: disable-authorlink in wp-disable-comments.php on line 211
The only way to get rid of them is to disable the plugin; no changes made to the plugin settings fix these.
Any ideas?
]]>I am hoping this plugin can do what I want, which is for all the images I upload to make “Allow Comments” and “Allow Trackbacks” to be DISABLED by default.
I still want to use comments or trackbacks for my posts by default, but I hate that they are turned on by default also for images, which makes no sense.
What options would I use in this plugin to make just images have comments and trackbacks turned-off by default?
Thanks.
Michael
]]>I mainly want to use this nice plugin to disable Comment on specific Pages.
I did it beautifully for a single page ID but the second one is still displaying the comment area.
I cannot find any instruction to check I did it correctly.
The grey instruction inline has disappeared of course.
So what separator do I use between the ID numbers?
I left a space, then I tried a hyphen.
After installing the plugin I am still getting comments on attachment pages. Can I stop them?
