Thank you very much for this work. It really works.
I would only add the option to choose that the avatars are not reset every time the page is refreshed. Instead, once a guest comments and is assigned a comment, that avatar is fixed for that comment.

Just what I wanted, don’t know why more poeple aren’t using this quality plugin!
However, instructions were hard to find!
To author: please add your instructions (below text) here on the plugin page installation notes section, so users don’t need to search for them in the plugin folder!

1. Configure the plugin by going to Appearance
> Customize
menu that appears in your admin menu.
2. Upload the Custom Avatar image in the WP Custom Avatar section.
3. Navigate to Settings
> Discussion
menu. Scroll down to the Avatars section and choose the image that you uploaded as the Default Avatar.
