It seems that your WP Clean Up plugin has been abandoned or you don’t have time to maintain it, since it was last updated 8 years ago. There are deprecated functions that need updating and also Notices/Warnings that should be resolved to make it compatible with the latest WordPress and PHP versions.
Instead of letting this plugin stagnate, I would be interested in adopting it and continue development where you left off, especially since there is still a large number of people using it.
Would you be willing to add me as a committer as explained here? I will then be responsible for future development, maintenance, updates and to ensure the plugin complies with all WP plugin guidelines.

Every time I activate the wp cleanup plugin it blocks my ip address and says contact the administrator. Can you tell me why? I’ve had to ask my server host to deactivote it so I can go into my site and I’ll have to delete the plugin if I can’t stop it happening. What can I do other than delete the plugin ?

]]>Hi, as others stated, this plugin breaks NG Gallery. Changing line 21 of wp_clean_up_admin.php to:
$wcu_sql = "DELETE FROM $wpdb->posts WHERE post_status = 'draft' AND post_type NOT LIKE '%ngg_%' AND post_type NOT LIKE '%display_type&' AND post_type NOT LIKE '%displayed_gallery%'";
…correctly solves the problem. If this query is run when NG Gallery is detected as active, the compatibility problem will disappear.
Note that the plugin that is “doing it wrong” is NGG.

Lately though been noticing that after clicking “Optimize” button my database grows in size? Not much but certainly not decreasing the database.
Never was case in past but lat month or so noticed this strange behavior. Is there something I can check to see why this is happening (like logs or something)?

I got lazy and wanted to add deletion of trashed pages and posts rather than clicking around in admin
While at it I moved the admin page from Settings to Tools

Couple comments on previous posts:
– orphaned plugins: what exactly is that? A plugin should remove itself and any related meta data. This plugin can’t mindread what is left over trash from poorly written plugins
– orphaned media: at least on my 4.1.1 when you delete media it is “permanently” deleted – there is no “move to trash”
– transient feed cleanup: the plugin cleans up transients; ie temporary cache entries. timestamp doesn’t matter. all that means is that the next page hit will repopulate those transients. No change needed.

Thanks for creating what looks like a really useful plugin. I noticed on a recent Anti-Malware scan of my site that several old plugins which I deleted some time ago, appear to have left files behind on my database. Would WP Clean Up have the functionality to remove them?

]]>I have had a long lasting problem using NextGen gallery and tried to solve the matter with their support team. You can read the thread for more information, this is a validated problem:

It turned out that using WP Clean Up to delete redundant data was the cause of the problem and I have validated it on my production site and on a test bed I keep for these purposes.
I can confirm with confidence that using “WP Clean Up” plugin and using it to delete what it considers redundant data (Revision, Draft, Auto Draft, Moderated Comments, Spam Comments, Trash Comments, Orphan Postmeta, Orphan Commentmeta, Orphan Relationships, Dashboard Transient Feed) breaks NextGEN Gallery presentation. I ran the same plugin on my test bed site and as soon as I clicked on “Delete All” button, the plugin cleaned up all the debris but the gallery display is broken.
Since I have run this test on my production site with months of troubles, and now on a test site with minimal content, I will consider the relationship between two plugins “hostile”. I will post this message with a link to this thread to WP Clean Up support forum as well.
Just as WP Clean Up author should check what may be causing this harm, it may be prudent for NGG team to investigate that as well just in case another similar plugin may cause the same problem and it may be due to an issue in NextGEN plugin. No other plugins are adversely affected by the cleaning process.

]]>When running php 5.5, WP Clean Up isn’t able to enumerate table sizes on the Settings page, right above the Optimize button.
It shows a Total table size of 0.
This works fine with php 5.4.
]]>Be careful to use this plugin with NextGen Gallery. While deleting Draft data ALL records from wp_posts table are deteted that have post_status=’draft’ value.
The issue is that NextGen Gallery plugin stores own data in ‘draft’ records with post_type values like ‘ngg_album’, ‘ngg_gallery’, ‘ngg_pictures’… After they are deleted you see just messages ‘Gallery not found. Please check your settings’ on your site.
Possibly it make sense to delete only those draft records that have post_type values ‘page’ and ‘post’.
Another proposal – on the Admin page to add a note on top like ‘Please make a back up copy of your database before using this plugin’. In my case it would help a lot :)…

I have some images that I have already deleted. From what I’ve read around the web(correct me if I’m wrong please), images that I have deleted from wordpress dashboard, still exists in the database. So my question is, will this plugin finish the job and clean up the database as well?

The troubles are:
1) There is not clear explanation in English yet. I mean what certain action of deleting performs.
2) As author says “It’s safe”, I expected not deleting vital data. But I have on hands: pages, categories, posts, menu but menu does not fits its destination. Even creating NEW menu do not put each item on its shelf.
What can I do??
