WP Importer plugin conflict made our website show in Phone Mode on desktop & other formatting and display errors.
To be clear, when I removed the plugin, the formatting stopped. So the website is showing correctly now.
To the developers – this error caused us to spend an enormous amount of staff time and tech support time to try and locate and correct. Time we didn’t have ??

My WP blog had many OSM maps within iframes.
I exported from the blog to an .xml .
This is an example as the .xml looks like:
iframe start: src="https://umap.openstreetmap.fr/de/map/2019-02-05_feringasee_5km_292148?scaleControl=false&miniMap=false&scrollWheelZoom=false&zoomControl=true&allowEdit=false&moreControl=true&searchControl=null&tilelayersControl=null&embedControl=null&datalayersControl=true&onLoadPanel=undefined&captionBar=false" width="100%" height="500px" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"
iframe:endlink start: a >Vollbildanzeige (rechte Maustaste) :link end
(I want to show the source code here, therefore I use start / end, I hope you understand).
Later I re-imported from this .xml with plugin “WordPress Importer”.
But only this part of .xml is imported:link start: a >Vollbildanzeige (rechte Maustaste) :link end
without iframe.
Look the example:
https://notizen2019.netzjahre.com/2019/02/feringasee-05/
No iframe is here, only the link text is shown:
“Vollbildanzeige (rechte Maustaste)” (German text like: full screen display (right mousekey) )
Meanwhile I restored some iframes manually, it looks like if iframe is correct:
https://notizen2019.netzjahre.com/2019/01/parkband-27/
What must I do that the WordPress Importer import theiframes, too?
Thanks in advance for your hints.
I want to copy a couple of projects from my 2j2kbordercollies.com WordPress website to my 2j2kbordoodles.com website. The plugin imports pages and posts, but does it also do projects?
]]>I’m trying to use this plugin to move content between sites. We are having an issue with an import where many of the image tags are not being backfilled to use the image file from the new site, and I think the issue is with images that have been edited/scaled on the source site. I’ve dumped the $url_remap array to take a look at the search/replaces that are being attempted, and it doesn’t look like they properly account for edited images. (Full disclosure: I’m not very savvy at how the WP Image Editor works.)
Example Image Tags that DID work (just as a control test)
https://old-network.edu/subsite/files/2022/10/Trail-building-River-Valley-Conservation-10.11.22.jpg
became
https://new-network.edu/subsite/wp-content/uploads/sites/496/2022/10/Trail-building-River-Valley-Conservation-10.11.22.jpg
Perfect!
Now let’s take a look at a few that did NOT backfill properly, and the url mappings associated with them.
https://old-network.edu/subsite/files/2023/07/IMG_0437-400×600.jpg
was unchanged ?? There were 3 related Mappings:
https://old-network.edu/subsite/files/2023/07/IMG_0437-e1690822076996.jpg” => https://new-network.edu/subsite/wp-content/uploads/sites/495/2023/07/IMG_0437-e1690822076996.jpg
https://old-network.edu/subsite/files/2023/07/IMG_0437-e1690822076996 => https://new-network.edu/subsite/wp-content/uploads/sites/495/2023/07/IMG_0437-e1690822076996
https://old-network.edu/subsite/files/2023/07/IMG_0437.jpg => https://new-network.edu/subsite/wp-content/uploads/sites/495/2023/07/IMG_0437-e1690822076996.jpg
As you can see, none of these mappings actually capture this image for replacement. My assumption/theory is that it’s due to it being edited on site.
Here’s another one that did not backfill properly, but with a different URL oddity noticed in the url mappings.
https://old-network.edu/subsite/files/2024/01/2023-Annual-Summary_Page_1-195×252.jpg
was unchanged ?? Once again, there were 3 related Mappings
https://old-network.edu/subsite/files/2024/01/2023-Annual-Summary_Page_1-scaled.jpg => https://new-network.edu/subsite/wp-content/uploads/sites/495/2024/01/2023-Annual-Summary_Page_1-scaled-1.jpg
https://old-network.edu/subsite/files/2024/01/2023-Annual-Summary_Page_1-scaled => https://new-network.edu/subsite/wp-content/uploads/sites/495/2024/01/2023-Annual-Summary_Page_1-scaled-1
https://old-network.edu/subsite/files/2024/01/2023-Annual-Summary_Page_1.jpg => https://new-network.edu/subsite/wp-content/uploads/sites/495/2024/01/2023-Annual-Summary_Page_1-scaled-1.jpg
Again, none of these mappings actually capture it, with again my assumption being due it being scaled on site.
Hello,

Many thanks!
I want to import media from another site. I created an XML export file and then selected it for import it on the new site. The export file is 14 MB and the upload file size on the target server is 128 MB, memory is set to 512 M. I believe I have the bases covered. The problem I am encountering is I get a failed to import message for all media files in the export file.
I have never used the WordPress importer before. Are there limitations?
Any insight is appreciated!

Hi,
cant import. Get this error message =>
The file is empty. Please upload something larger. This error can also be caused by uploads being disabled in your php.ini file or by the value in post_max_size being smaller than upload_max_filesize in the php.ini file.
What can i do? Searched for php.ini could not find it.

Hi, I installed your plugin recently, it’s really easy and fast to use, but I am facing a problem and was hoping for your help.
So here’s the problem, in day 1 I imported all posts from my other website and everything was great, but when I updated one of the posts (I changed the text in the content) after the import in my new website there are now 2 posts with the same title and different content, how do I fix this? I just want the same post to be able to be updated.
Also for some strange reason, the menu on my website is duplicated after every import, my menus are created with another plugin (Mega menu) can you tell me what is the problem there please?
]]>Hi, I’m using Local app to run a WordPress dev site on my local machine to test an import of a large XML file (400MB) that is over the limit for shared hosting file limit size. My goal is to import it locally and then make smaller export files. The import works perfectly when I increase the php.ini settings for max file size and memory. The problem is that when I run the import I get errors for every user that would be created (but isn’t because of the error). The error is:
Warning: Undefined array key 1 in /Users/carolyn/Local Sites/iparticles/app/public/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-importer/parsers/class-wxr-parser-regex.php on line 65
It still runs but it assigns my user account as the author of all the articles. There are about 300 authors that need to get imported and should remain the authors of their respective posts.
I ran smaller imports with the same number of users/authors and for these smaller XML imports it works perfectly, giving me the option to create a new user for each unique user (which is what I want) or assign to an existing user. But for the larger file I get the error and no ability to create the users during import.
The other difference between the large file and the smaller file is that the large file includes image attachments that I am downloading and the smaller file does not.
Is there any way to solve this, do I need to look at another method for import?
Thanks in advance for any pointers.
Best regards,
Carolyn V.

]]>When I am using importer, I have issues with links and images. It seems that somewhere in the export/import process the links and images are getting messed up.
For example, in one of my templates that I exported, my link was:
https://example.com/dating-apps
However, after exporting then importing, the link became broken like this: https://example.com/%22https://example.com/dating-apps//%22
Further for images, the images are broken – I assume also a link issue.
I suspect this issue is that links should be escaped somehow but then when I import back there’s likely a lot of manual work to revert the links. In that case, I might as well wait until I have imported pages back to fix links.
Does anyone know how to solve this? It would greatly help me to save time!
]]>Hey all,
Recently I downloaded the plugin. The first time, I exported an XML file, then created about 20 pages for my site. I was easily able to import it back into my WordPress site.
However, I have been trying to do that again for other content and each time that I try to do it the script only imports the first page in the XML file. So, for example, in my next XML import, I had 40 pages, it imports the first one only into my drafts.
I tried different pages, creating a new example page, tried just importing 3 pages or smaller numbers of multiple pages, and nothing works.
Does anyone know why this is happening? I would be grateful for any guidance because this is super frustrating and slowing me down on my progress.
]]>When i import some posts from big file, after 30 seconds of run i get error 500. It’s timeout, it’s ok. If i’ll reload this page with this request, import will continue for 30 second more. And for import all posts (it’s about 7000 posts + images) i must submit reload every 30 seconds for import.
Tell, please, how i can automatizate it? For example, using cron?
Thanks.
