My custom sidebars are gone since WP was updated to version 3.9.1. I’m using the paid Lucid theme. Please help because the customer wants their site back the way it was and I have been trying to revert back to it using old versions of the database, but that’s not working. Thanks.
Is this plugin compatible with WP 3.9.1? I have a feeling it has some issues, since it stopped working since I updated mine to 3.9.1.
I see the sidebars, on the widgets, and on the pages/post, but just not showing up on the actual page itself.
Any plan to update?
Hi,
I have run into a very annoying issue when creating custom sidebars (Appearance->Custom sidebars) using the WP Pinboard theme.
To reproduce the issue, select ‘sidebar right’ as the box available for substitution and save changes.
Now create a new custom sidebar, and click Edit (to take you to the before widget, after widget etc page), then immediately click save changes.
When you return to main custom sidebars page I notice the boxes available for substitution has magically changed from right to left
Can’t seem to find the Custom Sidebar to write to in Accessibility Mode.
I am trying this plugin as a replacement to another Custom Sidebar plugin because I have a site with 1,000s of custom sidebars, and the other plugin stopped working.
Because of how many sidebars I have, I need to use Accessibility Mode to access (although I also didn’t see the sidebar I created in normal mode, ether).
Where is the entry point to write content to the Custom Sidebar?
It may be possible that this is just not working, or that the database field for sidebars is full.
Any insight you have would be appreciated.

I’m your biggest fan… After using this plugin for about a year, I can’t imagine working without it. Many visitors have examined my site to admire the powerful sidebars:
https://typeheritage.com/jfc/03-patents/
https://typeheritage.com/jfc/jfc-06
The Bad News is that I may have to give it up for my forums site…
In a sub-domain sandbox, I’m setting up forums with bbPress [new to me]. Since I need only one navigation sidebar for all pages, I decided to make a custom sidebar for it.
WOW! Instead of a fixed menu appearance, I could control font formating, colors, etc. like a champ! It works perfectly for pages:
https://66.147.244.145/~typeheri/forums/status/
The downside is that when one opens a “topic” page, the perfect custom sidebar is replaced by a tiny frame containing a full-page 404 Error Notice, **as if I had tried to view the sidebar itself.** It looks like this:
https://66.147.244.145/~typeheri/forums/topic/chart/
At first, I thought the problem was TablePress [also new to me], so I contacted the author. He noticed that the HTML involving the Custom Sidebar invokes a microsoft office product:

He assured me that “user-added text” was causing the problem and advised that it would work properly if corrected as:

This makes no sense to me because there are no embedding/plugins installed at this site.
When the Custom Sidebar plugin is deactivated, the problem disappears. Can it be fixed? If not, can you recommend a workaround or an alternate plugin?
Countless thanks for your valuable work, Anna

I am using the Graphene theme with a static homepage and blog page.

I am using the the WordPress Custom Sidebar Widget https://www.destio.de/tools/wordpress-custom-sidebar/
I have created a custom sidebar for the news section of the site. I have assigned this specific sidebar to every page/post within the news section. The sidebar displays correctly on each post, but does not display on the main news page. The sidebars work on every other page of the site. I’m not sure why the main news page is any different.
Can you please help? Thank you.

Hi Philipp,
firstly thanks for the plugin, works fine ??
However, I have seen that the QuickEdit functionality from WP overwrites/resets a sidebar association done in the normal editor. Example: create a sidebar, associate it with a page and then change the publish date by using the QuickEdit function. The sidebar is reset to its default.
If this is a bug, it would be great, if you can fix this in a next update. Thanks!

First of all- This is the best plugin I’ve found yet for custom sidebar navigation, congrats, this is really awesome.
Second- Is there ANY way I can add CSS and stylize the sidebar? I know how to do this usually but I tried adding a stylesheet and it didn’t work.. not sure if there’s an easier way?
Thanks in advance!

I tried version 2.2 and 2.1, both gave me the same problem.
I’m using a Twenty Eleven child theme and the plugins that I have activated are Events Manager, Events Manager Pro and Peter’s Login Redirect.
Any ideas? This plug in seems to be exactly what I’m looking for.

Beginners’ Luck?
I’m a WP newbie [WP 3.2.1, Suffusion Theme 3.8.2] developing a “scholarly” site that needs a lotta custom info in a variable second sidebar.
After trying at least half a dozen plug-ins to handle this task, Speck’s “WordPress Custom Sidebar” is the first to work perfectly for me. What a Eureka Moment!
The one thing that didn’t work at first was: I didn’t edit [delete the built-in text] and then publish the “Default Sidebar” (who knew?). So the only custom sidebar I had made at the time was displayed on ALL pages with two theme sidebars because the “default” (blank) option was not available in the drop-down options.
Hoping this tip helps you or Someone Else Out There who tries this FABULOUS plug-in! Check out the super-spiffy result here:
