Wordpress Related Posts plugin does not work with PHP 8.0. It shows the following error:

PHP Fatal error: Array and string offset access syntax with curly braces is no longer supported in **plugins/wordpress-23-related-posts-plugin/lib/stemmer.php on line 388

Please help.

I love this plugin but it seems to be languishing. And lately, I am starting to get errors. Is there active development and support or do we need to look for a different solution?

is it planned to update this plugin to be compatible with last version of WordPress 5.6?
I get the following error in the backend:
../wp-content/plugins/wordpress-23-related-posts-plugin/static/js/themes.js: ‘hover’ pseudo-event is deprecated, use ‘mouseenter mouseleave’

Enable JQuery Migrate Helper plugin is installed on the site. However, this code must be updated.

Pinterest is not working since latest WordPress update. It has something to do with the jQuery migrate

Since WordPress upgraded to 5.6 whenever I click on the button “Edit Related Posts”, instead of a pop-up window to select related posts to display, it just takes me back to the blog post itself so I can no longer select related posts. Not sure if anyone else is having this problem?

Is this plugin still being supported? Perhaps some suggestions for alternatives if that is the case?

We’re using Related Posts together with Polylang (which makes our Website multilingual). It’s similar to WPML.
Unfortunatley the related posts show up in multiple languages, which does not make much sense.

Anyone else had that problem?

In my websites the plugin only shows a few real thumbnails (the ones from the posts), although EVERY post has images. The rest are default images from the plugin.

Is there a way for the plugin to show real thumbnails in every related post?

First let me say what a great plugin Related Posts is. Recently I upgraded to PHP 7.2 and am getting the following error message:

Would it be possible to update the plugin to be compatible with PHP 7.2?

Is there any way to add pages or custom post types with the plugin?

One of the sites I am a member of had used this plugin for a short time. The plugin was removed because it was broken and not working properly. You’d think you’d never hear about that plugin again as you move onto other options and ideas and never look back.

However, now an attorney from “PicRights.com” is reaching out (speaking on behalf of Associated Press) with a dispute demanding financial compensation for use of an unlicensed image. All because of one of the images that displayed from this plugin for a thumnail along with the recommended article title. They insist that the website is responsible because they “allowed” this plugin to add content to the website. Demanding nearly $400.

At first, I thought it was a scam. Your typical scammer from India or Nigeria trying to take advantage of non-tech savvy people. Then I find out they are legit, and this is a problem. A problem that no one on that website would have ever knowingly create on their own, but thanks to this plugin….apparently none of that matters.

Still get this ERROR message

You have no Zemanta API key and the plugin was unable to retrieve one. You can still use Zemanta, but until the new key is successfully obtained you will not be able to customize the widget or remove this warning. You may try to deactivate and activate the plugin again to make it retry to obtain the key.

premising that I love this plugin from the first release, I don’t know why the pinterest theme of the plugin doesn’t work anymore.
It works only for my category page “placemarks” but don’t works in my posts…

I can see that I can use custom thumbnail sizes, but what I’m after is it to call the “Thumbnail size” crop, which in WordPress is defaulted to a square.

Right now it’s showing the original aspect ratio, while I would like all the images to be a square.

How can I achieve this?

But we saw that the related Post URLs fetched by the Plugin are Pointing to complete URLs (e.g https://mywebsite.com/post01-page-url/) which is considered as External URLs.
We would like to point this URL in following manner to make all related posts linked internally for SEO perspective. And links are considered as Internal links.

Form https://mywebsite.com/post-01-page-url/ to /post-01-page-url/
Form https://mywebsite.com/post-02-page-url/ to /post-02-page-url/
Form https://mywebsite.com/post-03-page-url/ to /post-03-page-url/

kindly assist what kind of changes we need to make for this purpose.

Is this plugin support and development ongoing or not?
Just it has been 9 months since last update, why is that so?

A client’s website has been using this plugin for some time. Recently migrated their website, but the ability to save the manually selected related posts stopped working. The client had specified related posts for many of their posts, so they did not want to change plugins.

After some time debugging the issue, I found this bug was caused by the website using HTTP while the ajax URL uses HTTPS. However, the browser only logs in to one protocol, so the ajax call thinks you are logged out.

The fix required two things:

1. Adding a “wp_ajax_norpiv_” hook so the ajax URL works on HTTP
2. Overriding the _wp_rp_admin_ajax_url (and wp_ajax_url) variables in JavaScript so the protocol matches.

I hope this may help improve the plugin!

Anyone else running into a large amount of non-repeating cron jobs clogging up the cron event list? I have hundreds of jobs for:

wp_rp_cron_extract_images_from_post

It appears to be an indexing and extraction of the post image for the display of related posts thumbnail.

PSA: I had been using YARPP for years with much success. After YARPP got abandoned, I then gave this plugin a shot. But alas, now this plugin has also not been updated in ages, I had to look for a stable alternative that is actively maintained by the author…

Narrowed it down to the Shareaholic plugin and have not looked back… Shareaholic has it all. Highly recommended.

As of today (12/9), this plugin has disabled the “Preview” button in Edit Page–when I click it, nothing happens. It was working previously/two days ago, but I can no longer preview the page I’m editing with this plugin enabled. (I have deactivated and re-activated each plugin one by one, and this is the only one that disables the Preview button.)
I am aware of the warning: “This plugin has not been tested with your current version of WordPress” (however, like I said, I had no problems as of two days ago).

Help would be greatly appreciated!

I upgraded my WordPress Related Posts from v3.6.3 to v3.6.4 and now get HTTP 500 error when accessing my site. I am running PHP 5.4.24. Problem now is, i can rollback to v3.6.3, so have had to turn off the plugin. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
