It’s super intuitive and makes managing client websites so much easier. The design is clean and straightforward, which means I can adjust the “Admin” role quickly and without any confusion. It’s clear the developers put a lot of thought into making it user-friendly for everyone.

As a non-developer, the option to restrict access to settings that can inadvertently break my sites is a great safety net. I can even use it to restrict myself by logging with the newly created admin role most of the time so I’m less likely to cause myself problems. Lots of applications for solopreneurs, people who build sites for others, and business owners who need to assign team members specific levels of access.

Years ago, when I created my first WordPress blog, I had fallen victim (more than once) to ‘just changing’ a theme (because it was prettier!) and actually breaking a ton of things on my site that took hours to find and fix. I’m better at WordPress now and trust myself with the full Administrator role, but use Simple Client Dashboard for the people who need to adjust things on my sites (liked updating content, etc.), but who don’t have the WordPress experience to know when they are doing something dangerous (like changing a theme). Love this tool. Works like a charm.

This plugin rocks – and it is exactly what I need. It filters as mentioned in the plugin description, which works perfect. It has only 4 stars, because there is one thing that would be really important to me:
If you could add the possibility to restrict also other areas. For example: I have a backup plugin installed, and a Admin Help Box plugin, as well as other handy admin plugin that help me, but which my clients should not see. It would be simply PERFECT if your plugin would pull these other installed plugins, and I could simply flip a switch so the “Admin” user role could also simply not view them. BTW: Taking away the link would already be enough for me, because if a link in the backend navigation is not there, regular client users are simply not deep enough into it, as that they could imagine there is more than they see at the moment. ??
Think this would be possible to have done? I know there is other plugins out there that do similar things (I have tried different ones), but I would much rather have all of this controled by only this one plugin than having to manage all of that on different plugins… .

This plugin is absolutely fantastic! The Free version does all of the work for you…All you need to do is install/activate & then pick the “Admin” user role for the person you want to have limited access. That’s it! Done!
When I reviewed the WP tabs that the default Admin allowed, I discovered that it still allowed access to the Appearance tab, so I upgraded to the Pro version and found that to have a very easy-to-use interface which allowed me to block/hide access to not only top-level tabs, but also to sub-tabs (while still allowing access to the sub-tab’s top-level)…So, I could allow access to certain sub-tabs and and deny access to other sub-tabs in the same main tab.

An “admin” should have access to users. This plugin doesn’t give the flexibility to define roles as I’d like them.
An “admin” should NOT have access to appearance. I worked hard on the design and don’t want the users messing it up.

This is a simple yet reasonably powerful plugin to give user rights to clients, so that they can experiment with some options, but limiting them access to certain menu items in the dashboard, which is for their benefit, so they don’t screw things in their website.
I’ve found that to suit my needs I need to use this plugin with Adminize, an excellent plugin in its own right. In theory with Adminize and User Role Editor you can have more options for allowing access to menu items than this plugin, but nevertheless it’s a good plugin, and the PRO version might be worth it for some of you.
