I don’t know why this plugin is closed, but I have uploaded the code to github here: https://github.com/RobertPHeller/WebLibrarian. At this point I am seeking somebody to take it over. Is anyone out there interested?
]]>Hello,
First of all, I want to thank you for providing us this plugin. You’ve done us all a great service, since there’s nothing else even close to it out there!
Unfortunately,I’ve seen that the plugin has been removed from WordPress repository?as of March 7. Is there a security reason or any conflicts with current version of WordPress that has caused the removal? Do you think that it will still be functionable? I know that updating the plugin isn’t in your plans, but could you please consider it in order to get it back on the repository?
Thank you!
]]>Robert, thank you for your amazing plugin
The side management menu widget is missing in WordPress 6.3.1, Plugin version 3.5.8.1
How do i manage my existing Library? (which still works, but cant be managed)
Will the plugin be re-activated soon? it doesn’t show in the WordPress search and i cannot downgrade my version
Hi to all,
if I want to add a new item, and put in the publish date I get an error:
Ungültiges Ver?ffentlichungsdatum-Datum (1/2022): falscher Monat (1). Sollte einer von Jan., Feb., M?r., Apr., Mai, Jun., Jul., Aug., Sep., Okt., Nov., Dez. sein.
“Invalid publication date”
I try all type of dates, but I still get the error message.
Any ideas?
Best regards,
Uwe
Hi
In the user manual I find the css for the display of the plugin.
Buit where are the simple short-codes like:
how to show a list of the available books on the front end
and is there something like a reservation button für the visitors.
Sorry for my stupid beginner questions

Hi.
If you want to use this plugin and your characters are not English (as my language is), you need to open the structure of the plugin database tables (marked with the word weblib in phpmyadmin) in your WordPress database and Change Collation of fields to utf8mb4_unicode_520_ci.
The problem of cells is solved this way.
It is also possible to translate the plugin into your language via loco plugin.
The only remaining problem is the Gregorian calendar, which I hope Robert will solve it in future updates so that it can be used with other calendars (such as Jalali or Hijri).`
This plugin can be a great tool with a few tweaks. Thanks Robert
]]>Hello. I am contacting you through here as I was wondering if the patron gets a reminder through his email when a book is due.
The reasoning is that since the patron is linked to a wordpress account, maybe there is a functionality that will send a reminder using that information ?
If not, is it going to be implemented later on, or should we just branch off ?
Thanks a lot for your time, take care in those rough times !
]]>Hello, one year ago I installed the plugin weblibrarian and it worked out very well.
Unfortunately, now I can’t create a new patron (when logged in as the librarian) anymore. It always says that the date of expiry is invalid. I have tried everything:
MM/DD/YYYY
DD/MM/YYYY
DD.MM.YYYY
….
The patrons I created one year ago had the expiry date: Dec/31/2026. I remember that this one was created by the plugin automatically. But today also this one is not working anymore. What can I do??? First I thought that it might be the update of wordpress, but I managed to reinstall my old version again (5.7.3).
I use the weblibrarian version 3.5.7.
Can you help me please? =(
]]>Hello, hope life is doing alright for you in those times !
I was tasked to make a library using WordPress for my work, and WebLibrarian is the most promising plugin I have found so far for that purpose.
I am experiencing some bugs where the checkout and holding on items are not working.
I did select an user and book ID, getting to where I could use the checkout button. But when I click on said button, I get this error
Same goes for the hold button, here is another screenshot for documentation.
On the topic of the request button, I have read some of the other tickets that had been answered but in my case I don’t even get an error message (or don’t know where to look)
My PHP version is 5.8 and I’m using the current latest version of WordPress. My theme is Astra (even tho I doubt the theme might be related in this specific problem) and I’m also using the page builder Elementor.
I am uncertain where the problem might be coming from, and was wondering if there is a way I could resolve it ?
Thanks for your time!
(And sorry if there are any misspellings, English is not my mother tongue.)
Is it possible to adjust in the code that a book can be reserved a maximum of 1 time? if so, which files do I have to change.
]]>Hello,
Does WebLibrarian also maintains stock of books because i’ve tried to do so but in vain so far.
For example, if in my library i have 10 copies of the same book, If a book is borrowed, does the amount of books available for lending decreases to 9?
So far, when adding books, there are no places to set the quantity of a certain collection.
In short, is the book inventory feature available in WebLibrarian?
Thanks
]]>Robert, great plugin!
Is it possible to Delete Circulation types?
i did a bulk csv import and put what should have been Categories into Type. I need to reset my DB and re-import. I tried uninstalling / reinstalling the plugin.
I am comfortable running sql commands but not sure where to do that in the WP admin interface
Thanks!
]]>I want to link Patrons with users to eventually let users check out books online. My question is are Patrons already linked with users?
In database_code, around line 400, there is StorePatronIDWithSelectedUser and StorePatronIDWithCurrentUser. Both of these seem to link patrons with users.
Some more questions I have:
1. Are ALL patrons linked with users? If not, how can I make this the case?
2. What about non-admins or users created with membership plugins like Ultimate Member or Members. Can these users still be linked with patrons?
When adding new books to the collection it seemed like the plugin failed to display in Thai language(as the other part displays it fine). Can you please point out what could be the problem here
]]>I ran ‘weblibrarian’ plugin after a fresh installation of wordpress on GCP. I have used both ‘senior aid’ and ‘volunteer’ users to try checking out an item (circulation type, book, patron ID, have been updated and created) , but encountered an error of ‘Error checking out! Result code is 0.’. Please suggest.

Hello.
The title sorting either in the dashboard, or on the front-end of the site does nothing.

]]>Hi, getting lots of Librarian errors (possibly since WP 5.5.1)
Error Details

An error of type E_USER_ERROR was caused in line 779 of the file

Error message: Not a valid barcode: 00002998
There is no barcode of this number in the database, so not clear where this number is coming from! Any help very welcome.

I am currently trying to locate the above email to see what it says.
]]>Dear Robert
I’m very happy with your plugin. There’s on thing though I would like to change: the appearance of the search form ist not very pretty. Could you tell me in which file of the source code I could find the parameters for this feature?
Thanks a lot, Thomas
Dear Robert
Your plugin is great and your help was of important value, I’m making progress with my project.
I have anther question:
Would it be possible to creat a list from all the keywords used in the my database? As well as list of the authors? This could be of big help for users of my site.
Best regards
Hello Robert
I’m completely new with weblibrarian so my question might be stupid: If I want to add a new item to a collection one of the required fields is type. But I can’t make any entries there, it seems to be a dropdown field.
I tried to avoid this by adding a bulk of entries and specifying a field “type” in my csv list. But it doesn’t take the information in this field.
Hi,
thanks for making this plugin available!
The link points to my private attempt at cataloging books. Getting infos from Amazon was really nice, and it worked when I first added books some time ago. Now the Amazon panel displays ‘Loading …’ after starting a search, but doesn’t return any results.
My son reckons the change in Amazon API to version 5 (and subsequently turning off version 4) might be the reason.
If that’s the case, is there anything I can do about it? If not, what other possible reasons are there?
Thank you!
??
Cheers, Stefan
WordPress won’t let me create a 2nd user account with the same email address – you get the error “Error: This email is already registered, please choose another one.”
How do you admin the site AND be a librarian?
]]>Hi,
Sorry to bother you again. Quick question this time. If I’m adding tot he collection in bulk, how would I format the pubdate field? It doesn’t say anywhere in the user manual. Right now, I’m doing MM/DD/YYYY, but I don’t know if that is correct.
I’m going to add a feature that essentially sorts by pubdate, so I need it to be a SQL date and not a string.
]]>Hi,
Based on my understanding, users need to have a wordpress account for my website before they can become a patron. Is there any way around this? An admin would have to manually add users just so that they can become patrons, which doesn’t seem right.
I might be misunderstanding what a patron is. From reading the user manual, a user must be a patron to check out books. Is my understanding correct?
Thanks for any help!
]]>When we installed WordPress 5.4, and installed only WebLibrarian. With define( ‘WP_DEBUG’, true ); we will see:
Deprecated: contextual_help is deprecated since version 3.3.0! Use get_current_screen()->add_help_tab(), get_current_screen()->remove_help_tab() instead. in /home/quang/myweb/librarian/wp-includes/functions.php on line 5088
And we cannot create any item.

(new thread because the first one is closed)
Hi. I’m considering Web Librarian to manage a small, physical library. One thing that we absolutely require is having patrons’ email addresses included in their profile. I think we can use the “extraname” field for this, but want to first confirm. Is this field restrictive to simple characters or will it allow @ for an email address to be entered? If it is restrictive, is there another way we can add or edit a field for email addresses?
