Before the last update my Archives read the name Salem Corners. Now it reads Webcomic1. How do I fix this. The form is filled out right. It just won’t update.
]]>I’ve run into a weird issue working on my friend’s comic site. I’ve been using the Webcomic plugin for a couple of months now, and been using the navigation widgets that install with the plugin (First, Previous, Next and Last page of the storyline). They have been working as expected up until today, where I made some changes to the comic storyline. Here is what I did, to the best that I can recall:
Now, the First Page widget links to the last page of the storyline, and the the Previous Page widget links to the next page of the storyline. The linked page is a random one in the middle of the comic storyline. If you go to the last page in the storyline, the navigation widgets don’t appear at all (presumably because all navigation widgets are linking to the Next or Last page of the storyline, neither of which exist from that page).
Things I’ve tried to resolve the issue:
Any help or insight would be much appreciated!
]]>Hello everyone! I’ve been happily using the Webcomic plugin for my comic Aster and the Fire a little over a year now, but I’ve recently run into some issues regarding posts and my archive. I have set up my archive page through the ComicPress/Webcomic theme editor by customizing a menubar “page” button for my archive-it’s called Post Type Archive. I’ve included a picture of what that looks like below:
This has worked for me so far, but recently I’ve joined SpiderForest, which requires a top and portrait banner to be added to indexed comic pages and landing pages. Because the Archive page doesn’t technically exist as a real page on my website, I am unable to add the banners there. I attempted to remedy this by adding an Archive widget but when I load it it basically says the pages don’t exist, which is…not true?
Maybe I am missing some critical information somewhere, but I did peruse the ComicPress and Webcomic guides/forums, and haven’t found anything similar to my situation. If anybody has any advice, please let me know, and thank you in advance.
]]>Hello there. I’m planning on migrating my project to the Webcomic plugin from Comic Easel. I see that there is an integration method for Comic Easel, so that’s good. But I have a few questions before we start.
Is Webcomic being actively updated? The last commit was in March of 2021 and the last release was in 2018. Comic Easel seems to be abandoned and I didn’t want to commit work to another abandoned project.
I don’t have a good conceptual understanding of how the comic and post data is stored with Comic Easel and what is involved when moving to a new webcomic plugin. Do we have to manually re-upload everything one page at a time? Is there an import tool that changes the database entries into webcomic’s format? What does the process actually look like? Any input would be appreciated.
Thank you for your time.
]]>I’m trying to make an archive page for my comic and when I use the webcomic list it shows them from newest to oldest. is there any way to reverse the order so it is from oldest to newest? I would like the first page to be at the beginning.
I tried setting the format to ‘ordered’ but I don’t like how it adds a number to every comic page. If there isn’t a way to reverse the order is there a way to get rid of the numbers?
I’m new to making a website so any comment or links to tutorials would help.

]]>Is there a way to edit the appearance of the pages that Webcomic create when you choose to navigate to a Storyline or Collection archive?
I know that there are some options for changing thumbnail size and sort order, but there are other aspects that I can’t figure out how to change (each version having “Page 1” at the top instead of the comic title or the Story line name, each comic post also having the WordPress default “blog post thumbnail” in addition to the actual comic media thumbnail, etc.)
Webcomic doesn’t create an actual page for these that shows up in my Admin dashboard, so I’m a bit confused at how to customize these types of pages specifically.
]]>Maybe I’m doing something wrong, but the one thing I have not been able to do is get comic posts to show on the home page with blog posts. Maybe this needs a custom query?
]]>Hello. I do not understand well the use of shortcodes in this plugin I have tried unsuccessfully to show a thumbnail and link to the last comic published in the sidebar with this shortcode: [is_last_webcomic collections="cedillo comics"]"Last comic"[/is_last_webcomic]
what would be the correct shortcode?
I am using Webcomic for the first time. I have a long time working with WordPress, plug-ins, and the web in general. I have gone through the User Guide. I seem to be missing a critical step, or misunderstanding the process.
I have created a new collection and changed the title.
Based on the manual, I have created a new webcomic for each page of my comic book.
I have uploaded media and applied it as Webcomic media and saved each file.
They show up in the collection, in order, with the media showing.
I have integrated it into my theme (2017) using the universal option. (I have tried both Webcomic and Comic Easel options and the image content disappears). I have selected to put first comic on the front page and picked the appropriate collection.
The first comic (the cover page) shows up with an infinity symbol as the navigation, and basically loops to itself. I have loaded an additional five pages to test and none of them come up in the link.
Have I missed something in the process? Should I use a different theme? The choice of 2017 was because it worked relatively stably on my previous host, but I have since upgraded to another provider and have the option of applying a more compatible theme. However, I don’t know what themes are written for the webcomic plug.
The site is presently a work in progress, as is the comic. I am testing to get this working and then will be putting up more content as available.
Any help is appreciated. This looks to meet most of my requirements if I can get it working. Fairly sure it’s something I am doing wrong in the setup, but it has me stumped.
]]>The shortcode no longer works: [last_webcomic_link args=”posts_per_page=9&offset=8″]”Last” comic for non-patrons[/last_webcomic_link]
It does work if we downgrade the plugin, if you visit this page https://staging.youngprotectors.com/ and click on the most current page, it brings a blank page, downgrading the plugin fixes the issue.
]]>Every time I activate Webcomic it prevents the media library’s thumbnails from loading in the gallery page. This also prevents me from attaching images on individual comics, posts, and pages because they use the gallery mode by default. Here is a video of the problem:
All plugins and themes are up to date. I have disabled all plugins and switched to the default 2022 theme. When no plugins are activated, the gallery loads fine. Right after I activate Webcomic, the gallery fails to load. Instead, there is a spinning loading disc.
I have tried deleting the current version of 5.0.6 and installing 5.0.5, but the problem persists. I tried using my custom theme. I tried updating from 5.0.5 to 5.0.6 and it broke my site and required deleting Webcomic altogether and then re-installing 5.0.6.
I also tried modifying my permissions on files and folders. Directories are 0755. Files are 0644.
In the meantime, a workaround is to add the comic pages, upload the images when Webcomic is disabled, re-enable it, and then use the Webcomic Attacher.
Any idea what could be causing the media library image gallery to not load? It’s odd that they do load in the list view, as you can see in the video, but not in the gallery view.
]]>Hello everyone, I’m new to using the Webcomic plugin.
I managed to publish my first webcomic page, uploading the page to the Webcomic Media tab, and added a caption below it in the paragraph text box. However, when I go to see the page on my website, the page is not visible, though I can see the caption below it.
I read that it might be due to a plugin issue, and to turn them off and see if that makes a difference, but no luck so far.
If anyone could help I would really appreciate it.
]]>Hi,
I did a dumb with my webcomics and had a much later page go live weeks before it was supposed to. I tried re-scheduling the page, but while it disappeared from the front page, the last page still linked the erroneous page. So I deleted that page, and now the old page links to this, a dead page instead of the new page.
My question is, how do I fix this? I need the “next” link to actually link to the next live page, not the one I messed up with/dead link to it.
]]>Looks like with the new PHP update the filters.php page in lib/transcribe/filters.php broke

fixed it by changing $suffix = $match{2};
with $suffix = $match[2];
on line 426
In case anyone gets this, the fix works fine (disabled auto update for now too)
]]>It looks like Webcomic isn’t compatible with the newest version of WordPress. I downgraded just to keep it working.
The error I was getting after updating to 5.9.1 was a “Page not found” for where a comic page should be.
Not sure if it’s an issue with the newest version, my theme inkblot, or if a fix is in the works yet.
]]>I currently only have one comic on my site, but I plan to add more. For this reason, I am trying to add a link to the last comic on my main menu, instead of the main page. For some reason, https://www.panikbedlam.com/?last_webcomic isn’t working at all, it just goes to the main page. I have the last comic posted on the main page for now, but it isn’t the best long-term solution.
I would also like to change the comic id, so that the future link will be https://www.panikbedlam.com/?last_webcomic=elizabeth-book, instead of https://www.panikbedlam.com/?last_webcomic=webcomic1
]]>I’m in the process of publishing a webcomic using the Hever theme and everything seems to be going fine except for the navigation buttons.
They’re spaced out so wide that they’re spread over two lines – it just looks messy on desktop and seems unusable on mobile.
Is there a way I can reduce the gap between them, ideally to make them fit under a page image?
If the problem could be theme-related, are there any other recommendations for themes to use? I tried installing inkblot but the whole site suffered a critical error and wouldn’t load.
]]>By default WEBCOMIC places the comic title BELOW the Webcomic Media and navigation links (Universal Integration).
Is there a practical way to have the title appear ABOVE the Webcomic Media? Thanks for your help.
Hi everyone!
I’m wondering if there’s a way to make a Dropdown menu in addition to the usual archive?
I like having a thumbnail gallery archive, but for those who want a quick click-and-scroll to find the exact page they want, I’d like to also have a drop-down menu that stays up-to-date as well.
Is there a way to do this? If not within webcomic, is there a way to use a plugin to scrape the links from an archive and put it into a Dropdown?
Thanks for your help ??
]]>I’m currently looking to create an archive for a client that’s a bit different from Webcomic’s default. What they want is to display each storyline individually with navigation that moves between storylines. And on top of that, displaying each substoryline in accordian menus. Is this possible?
To help explain this I made two quick mockups of what they’re looking for here.
Now I think I know how to do the accordian menus, but I’m having trouble with the Webcomic documentation since it doesn’t give examples of how it’s used. So I’m struggling to figure out if we can navigate from storyline to storyline.
As for thumbnails, I haven’t dug into it but I believe I can switch the archive to thumbnail format using the method described in this thread. If I’m wrong there I’d appreciate any help!
]]>Hi, I’m new to wordpress and just recently installed this plugin, so please forgive me if this has been answered before.
Anytime I upload more than one image in the “webcomic media” area, once published, the images align left. I want the images centered. The only workaround I found is to post images in the main area instead of the webcomic media box, but the webcomic navigation buttons don’t appear below the content in that case. Is there any way to fix this?

]]>Hi!
I’m trying to make a website for my webcomic and I have zero knowledge in programmation. I’m playing around in wordpress to try understanding stuff.
I was wondering if it was possible to change the navigation buttons (<< < random > >>) on the webcomic plugin. I tried to find how everywhere but didn’t find anything. I found out how to do it with comic easel but I prefer the webcomic plugin because it seems easier to understand and have more options that I’m interested in. I want to draw images and asign those images so it replaces the default (<< < random > >>) buttons.
Can you help out the noob that I am?

BACKGROUND: I’ve been using Webcomic for about a decade or so, but have hardly used my website in years. Recently it was giving me a critical error I couldn’t solve after a WordPress upgrade (I suspect), and I could see there was a a particular issue with Webcomic (disabling it let the basic structure of the website work, but it wasn’t showing any comics/header). I couldn’t upgrade it because I couldn’t access any of my admin dashboard or site while Webcomic was present (un-renamed) within the file structure. I couldn’t find a way around this issue, so I eventually decided to do a fresh reinstall of the latest WordPress and the latest Webcomic plugin, and try to work up from there.
Thanks for any help!
]]>Hello! What’s the best way to convert old Comicpress posts to Webcomic?
I have a client that’s still using the old Comicpress 2.5 theme and I want to move them over to Webcomic. They have over 2k+ comic posts so I’ve been researching how to convert in bulk. I don’t want to break their urls or have to do a lot of manual work if I can help it. Is there a way to do this?
My first plan was to convert everything to Comics Easel then migrate those posts to webcomic using the old plugin. But I’m unable to find any kind of guide on how to do that without losing the attached image or url.
I could hack it by switching the post type using a post type switcher plugin. But it looks like comics easel uses the featured image for the comic itself while Webcomic uses a custom media type. So I’d have to manually re-attach images.
With all this in mind, how would you recommend I do this? Is there a way to preserve their year/month/day permalink structure or will I have to write a custom .htaccess redirect?

]]>I’ve not got high hopes because I’ve already done a lot of googling, but if there’s a good ‘how to’ youtube channel for this plugin or any other such thing, that’d be great. The SEO of “Webcomic Plugin how-to” is not particularly helpful.
I’d mostly like my archives to produce as images, not just the text, and not be limited to 5 pages at a time. Although any amount of actual instructions on how to use the plugin would be helpful.
It is a multi-comic site and it’s not on Inkblot–I use Divi. It’d be nice if I could customize the look of the comic splash page–once upon a time, I used widgets to put the comics up in various places, but that seems to be a relic of the past.
Any guidance would be helpful.
