WangGuard’s closing was a huge loss for my site and for me financially. My site got attacked to the point where all the features broke. I still can’t find a comparable plugin. Sorry to see you go!

I literally just found this plugin today in hopes of preventing my Buddypress registration spam. It’s unfortunate to hear the IndieGogo campaign did not suffice. It certainly seemed like a very well-developed plugin for an all too common issue.

Earlier, my website websiteh was receiving a lot of spams, and i was not able to do anything to solve it. But after downloading WangGuard, i am tension free, as no spams are coming to my website and i feel safe now. It is the best plugin. You must download it if you want to protect your website from sploggers.

I’ve tried so many security plugins out there but all have something missing. Recently I tried wanggaurd and it’s the complete security pack. It provides almost all necessary things to make my blog secure.
Thanks to wanggaurd team.

I downloaded this plugin after all the recommendations. It works great in identifying and stopping the sploggers. I had some minor problems trying to get the activation to work, but finally just changed the https:// to https:// and everything worked perfectly.
I’m thinking the developer probably needs some support from all of us.
Give it a try.

I’ve been using WangGuard for several years, and it’s amazing. This should really be a paid plugin.

Developer works hard to provide these tools, must have if setting up for BuddyPress! Thanks very much for all your contributions to countless web projects over the years – there are a lot of people that will be so glad you are still supporting this plugin! Best in class!

Title says it all – hopefully the plugin author can find a sustainable business model to keep providing the service

I’ve used this for almost a year and been very happy with it. After updating to 1.7.2 I cannot login to my wordpress admin. I get ‘too many redirects’ error from browser. Deleting the plugin allows me to get back into admin.
Looking forward to a fix to this problem.
It’s been awesome up until now.

Plugin Cannot connect to Wanguard.
The system returned: (110) Connection timed out.
https://www.wangguard.com is also non responsive.

I installed this plugin after I’d (rather stupidly) accidentally left subscription open on my site. I had >100k spam users registered and was looking for a way to easily remove them.
It did help, but when checking for Splogguers nearly half of the checked users came back as ‘checked’ rather than ‘splogguer’.
Even with this problem is speeded up the removal process considerably. Shame about all the false negatives

Im using MailPoet Newsletter Plugin 2.7, i was having query that can i get an API key for a local site for Wang Gaurd plugin. I was needing it for testing purpose.
Is there is some another option for it which is preferable for local site.

Given that the plugin’s inability to connect securely with WangGuard’s servers is a known issue for MANY people, it’d be nice if the error message would recommend disabling SSL/TLS connection rather than forcing us to search through support forums to find this simple solution.
No idea whether this plugin will actually stop spam registrations or not, but they’ve already lost a star for the headache it took to even get it working on a clean-installed WP site.

Fantastic plugin – does what it says. My site was getting a LOT of splogger registrations, and this plugin stopped every single one of them.
I’ve previously run pretty much every anti-spam plugin and combination of plugins out there and have finally found 2 that work.
* Wang Guard for sploggers
* WordPress Zero Spam for spam comments
If you’re having trouble with spam and sploggers, try this combo. It works GREAT!

Thanks for a wonderful Plugin. But it doesn’t block registering users. I have to go to WangGuard Settings and run scan to figure out spammed users.
Also Please update mailpoet plugin for wangguard as it is not scanning mailpoet subscribers.
Thanks

At first I was worried because the plugin shows a User database in the plugin area, and I thought this was different from the the WordPress Users database.
But not, in fact they use WordPress Users database. So, this means you can also remove it safely whenever you want.
I recommend this plugin for having a spammers free website.

Really good plugin! thanks for it!

After trying some other plugins, the bots still could register on my website. After installing WangGuard it seems (for now) that the registration spamming has finally stopped.
Thanks to the dev’s for this nice plugin, best of luck in the future!

I know it says it’s not compatible up to 4.3, but come on…most plugin developers were able to product an update days after the release. It’s been about 2 weeks now. Lets get an update please.

And I’ve had no problems with it at all, using it for a good while now… Its more recent improvements have also been nice…
Have set up some crons and it is detecting presently 4 to 10 sploggers a day and automatically eliminating them… I’ve been watching via email notices from Wangguard and also from Wordfence to confirm that it is really getting actual sploggers and not legit folks…
I’m curious where all these sploggers are coming from… Its obvious that they are somehow all related because of how consistently similar (and stupid) the login credentials are, yet their IP addresses/locations (via Wordfence) indicate they are coming from all over…
As if there is some nefarious software being distributed somewhere that all these misguided folks are using, or people’s machines are getting infected, or a combination…???
I’m getting close to ready to turn off the email notices, feeling pretty confident about it now… There is a patch in the Wangguard support forums to do this, and a promise that the next update will put a selection option for this in the Wangguard settings…
I hope the next update is soon…

I had a 6 month problem due to some bots signing up hundreds of fakes a day. This plugin squashed them like the bugs they are, and keeps a log of the spammers and fake profile makers. Love it.

Installed the plugin this weekend and absolutely love it, totally cleaned up my site and very helpful with blocking all the spam registrations that I was receiving. Great plugin, thank you!

Wangguard saved me from almost 1000 fake user profiles already! I could recommend this plugin to everyone who’s encountering bots and spam-accounts.

Was getting 500+ spam registrations a day on my site. I’m now down to one, perhaps 2 per day, which is a dramatic improvement !

Thank you sooo much! This is my first day without need to delete a hundred or so spam accounts.

Saved us from being buried under SPAM. They were very responsive and helpful when we had an issue. I can’t sing their praises enough.

Works very nicely with only a few caveats – UI is a bit confusing.

Wow is this great! I did some testing on my using known “throw away” addresses and it caught them all. It’s already blocked Sploggers and fake emails input in my free download area.
Way better than the ESP I was using that gave me nothing and nickel and dimed the heck out of me for any little bit of useful information.
Thanks to the makers of this fantastic plug-in!
