No longer works after WordPress 3.6.1 update.
Caused errors on several sites (some very bad), and no longer blocks anything on the one site it didn’t break completely.
I’ve had to remove it from all our sites.
It’s not the only security plugin to have problems with this WP security update.
Looks like the plugin is abandoned too – no support, and no way to contact the developer to find out if there’s an update pending.
Great Pity:
This was the only WP plugin in repository to block hostnames / partial hostnames by TLD as well as user agents, bots and IP addresses AND keep a record of blocked activity along with the reason.
I hope Victoria reads this: the plugin has a bug that prevents you from being able to navigate through pages of blocked IPs. When I click on a page number or “Next” I cannot go to the desired page. Instead, I stay on the same page. It happens on this page:
]]>I’ve got the latest version of the plugin & wordpress. I’ve added an IP address to block from the site. It doesn’t block the IP address, it doesn’t even look like it’s firing at this point. I have visit from the IP address that is supposed to be blocked and nothing is even showing in the Block Records.
Only thing I can figure out is that it doesn’t work on a WordPress Network
]]>I was careful not to use my IP in a block and didn’t use my host info. But yet I locked myself out.
What I need to know is will deleting VSF Simple Block from my server directory let me back in to WP?
Thanks
]]>Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
Cannot create vsf block stored procedure vsfBlockHit.
Access denied for user … bla bla
“Great” instructions you have provided, your plugin definitely does NOT work under a normal installation but it seems to require special rights.
And if so, don’t you think it would be appropriate to TELL people HOW to set up those extra special rights ?!?!
Otherwise the whole thing is 100% useless …
]]>Only works on my category and tag pages. All other pages and posts are still visible.
]]>Took a couple minutes to figure it out. I just ban everyone using “host” and it never misses a beat. I had a spammer hitting me over 100 times a nite, he went bye bye..blocked every time. Unwanted Spiders were the same way.
I found Wassup plugin worked so I could see the visitor info, then feed that in to the VSF block options.
]]>can’t activate:
Cannot create vsf block rules table.
Table ‘wp_vsf_block_rules’ already exists
Works fine for me. Total simplicity. Not sure what that other guy’s problems are.
On the other hand, I think the developer of this plugin should work with him within this forum to solve the problem rather than telling him to go to her blog. Just my two cents.
]]>I’ve tried this plugin three different times. It simply does not work at all. When an IP copied from my Visitors’ Stats is entered in the “Block” window, the program replies “Invalid IP.”
Unfortunately a waste of time!
No matter where I specify in the program annoying senders, they still show up on the site and no items occur in the “Blocked items”
