I use another plugin to keep my local database up to date with my production database and I used to use FTP to download all the media files from production down to my local box. But with Uploads by Proxy, it totally eliminates the need to move the media files. This saves a bunch of time, bandwidth and space on my local drive.

This is a great plugin that should be in your tool box while working on client sites locally. Does what it says and works well. No more need to sync the uploads folder or look at broken images.

I searched and searched for a simple solution to this problem. I develop many wordpress sites locally and always struggle with syncing uploads so the local version at least appears somewhat similar to my production environment.
