So I was testing out this great plugin. I manage to upload it into any folders in my server.
I test it out and I manage to make it working without having issues in WordPress 3.5.1
But now I stumbled on how to rename the uploaded files.
The things that I should like it to work…
1) Users logged in website.
2) Users tries to upload a file
3) On uploading, any file that they send are renamed to their username. (Example: Mark, uploaded an Intro.doc. Intro.doc will renamed as Mark.doc or mark.doc)
4) When there’s a same filename exist, it will be overwritten.
I know this is sudden and selfish, but I really got no idea how to work on this. I have no experience working on WordPress but I would like to learn it slowly.
Can anyone help me to make this thing happen? Thanks
]]>Hi.
I have this widget working on my site:
https://jqracing.co.uk/?page_id=23
I would like to know if there is a feature or a way that once a file has been successfully uploaded to the site that an email can be sent to notify the Admin that an item has just been uploaded.
I use this for my members to send me Setup Sheets for Remote Control Cars that we race on tracks.
The user can upload his setup sheets and i can then add them to a download section on the website.
Is there a way that this widget would be able to notify the Admin or email address of when a file has been uploaded.
Thanks
Ben
Hey, how should I do to get all the uploads from your fantastic widget to a static page?

]]>I’m trying to allow visitors to upload .mov, .m4v, and .mp4 files but nothing happens. I tested uploading .jpg files and it worked fine, but not video files. Any help?
]]>I’ve been trying to find an answer to this for weeks. It seems all uploads need to be sent to a folder inside the wp-content directory, but this isn’t productive for the site I’m working on. We have specific directories already set up for various file type uploads (for example, a base directory for all images, with various sub-directories for the category each image falls into, same deal for other media files). It’s a heavily customised site and we’re trying to keep as much of our own/user-submitted content as possible outwith the core wordpress directories (this works best for us in the long run.
Is there currently a way that I’ve not noticed yet – other than hacking the plugin files (which will be wiped each time the plugin’s updated) – of changing the upload directory to one outwith the wp-content one? If not could an option be added in the admin area to allow this functionality (ideally each instance of the widget would have a 100% customisable directory, but it all depends on how far the current plugin can be extended)?
We really like the simplicity of this plugin and want to use it, but this is a major issue for us…
Thanks in advance,
LJ
]]>I just installed Upload Widget and it works great, even for large pdfs. What it doesn’t do is allow upload of a folder of files. Is there any way to allow upload of a folder?
]]>no matter what you do *.jpg or what ever, still allows .exe and all other danger files to upload
]]>Hello,
This plugin is exactly what I am looking to do with my site. I have read through all of the post in this forum and I am still unable to get this widget working. I have installed version 1.5 and activated it. I then created a new directory (/wp-content/Test) I only specified Test in the widget config but I put the full path so you can get an idea of where I am at. I also changed the perms on the Test directory to 0777. I kept the default 10 mb limit and removed the file type restriction for testing purposes. I upload a file and everything seems to work fine but when I look in the test folder there is nothing there. Searching my public www directory for the file name I uploaded yields nothing. The file I am uploading is like 3K.
Just wondering if this widget is supported on WP 3.0.3 . My site is hosted by hostgator.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
-Jimmy
I keep getting this error.
Upload failed !
? File not allowed
I’ve set the file type to jpg, uploaded one small jpg, and it’s not working.
CHMOD set to 777
Love the widget!!! We just started using it and it works very well with smaller files. However when we try with larger files (tried 150 MB and 212 MB) it appears that it runs for awhile (till Chrome upload reads 100%) then the screen flashes and the “Upload Complete” message doesn’t appear. And, when I check for the file in the directory it doesn’t exist. Any recommendations? -B
]]>I installed this great widget on my website (Linux) but I cannot seem to save a file to the destination uploads folder. I installed this same plugin on my Windows box but it too doesn’t save the selected file on the uploads folder. I am the Admin with Administrator user role in WP. What am I missing?
]]>Is there a way to remove the “Allowed Files” and .jpg in the visitor window? Sorry, but its just too much. I would like to limit the file type just to.jpgs without the visitor statement.
