Appears to be abandoned by the author.

This is a good plugin when it was fully functional, but I’ve found that it has aged out and is identifying issues that don’t exist. The concept was excellent when it was being maintained, but the author has abandoned it.

My client site suddenly broke for no apparent reason. Digging in to the logs, voila! this plugin was the culprit!!!
I tried to update our WordPress version but this plugin is stopping us… finally i found an alternative solution!

GoDaddy had to disable the account of one of my client because she used this plugin and crashed the server. The plugin made thousands of queries to the database. We had to delete it.
It still left some stuff behind in the database so we had to manually delete that.

Stay away.

This plugin provides a user-friendly guide to lots of basic things you can do to secure your WordPress site. I have used this plugin on many WordPress sites, but I have become unhappy with it for two reasons.

1. Plugin updates are infrequent. That’s not okay for a security plugin. If it’s not up to date, it can’t provide the best security.
2. It keeps a log of failed login attempts and never told me it was doing that. There is no way to access the log in WordPress and no way to turn this feature off in the plugin settings. On one site, the log contained 2.5 MB of data! When I deactivated and deleted the plugin, it did not clean up the WordPress database, either. I had to manually delete the log from the database.

Wordfence Security looks very promising. It blocks repeated failed login attempts and has a built-in cache:

I’m going to look into Wordfence to supplement or replace Ultimate Security Checker.

Really nice plugin – except that it breaks our Simplepress forum. Basically it seems to screw up the css both in the back and front end.
On a couple of other sites we run, without any forum: NO problems

I was recommended this app and purchased it. Running the free settings worked without a problem, but when I ran the full scan (after paying for it!) my website went offline.

Typing in my website URL redirected me to
https://tomandersonpro.net/wp-admin/install.php

I contacted support and they said to “Undo” the changes, however when I did a got a message saying “we’re sorry, there’s an error”.

Support have now stopped responding to my e-mails. I have lost all content which took me weeks to write. I have had to re-install wordpress and start from scratch.

Don’t touch this app! It’s not worth the hassle!

I have received no support from this guy. Requested cancellation but no reply. I am concerned that this guy has simply run off with my money? How do I cancel this? Who do I flag this to to make official enquiries?

Support tickets are not opened or responded to.

For a security plugin it’s quite ironic that his own Security Certificate has expired which again has me concerned about my own computer safety as a result of ‘signing in’
