Hey guys,
since the update to WordPress 4.4 I got duplicate e-mail-notifications when importing tweets. Normal pingbacks and trackbacks are working fine and there are no duplicate comments/pingbacks/trackbacks in wordpress themselve. Only the mail-notifications are duplicate.
Can anyone help?

Visit https://dev.twitter.com/apps and create a new Twitter Application
which takes me to a form where i have to create an application. This is where I get stuck. Do I have to be a developer to use this plugin? If anyone can provide step by step instructions I’d be grateful, thanks.

Also would be nice to have the ability to auto approve the tweets when converting them to a comment.

]]>Dear reader,
Recently found out about this awesome plugin and decided to give it a try but didn’t succeed.
After installing tried to activate the plugin but failed. Only got this back:
“Plugin can’t be activated because it caused a fatal error.”
No details or what so ever. Don’t know what to do now. Can you help me out?
Greetings from Holland.

Currently have Jetpack and Twitter Mentions As Comments plugins activated but your plugin is no longer working. Really enjoy Twitter Mentions As Comments… hoping there might be a solution?
Thanks!

Aside from the “completely broken due to Twitter API upgrade” thread 5 months ago, there seems to be no response to any questions in this forum for this plugin.

]]>Hi
I’ve noticed that the plugin misses many tweets and is not showing them as comments.
On a recent post, there are over 20 tweets linking back to the post, but only 2 picked up as comments.
https://onproductmanagement.net/2014/06/18/how-to-avoid-a-common-customer-interview-mistake/
See left social bar that (currently) lists 21 tweets, but only 2 (currently) shown as comments.
Is anyone else seeing the same issue?
How can this be addressed?
Thanks

For some reason, my consumer and consumer secret keys for this plugin are not being accepted. It saves, but blanks it out and the “please check the plugin settings” notification remains.
https://screencast.com/t/M2YthiB1
Stranger thing is that on a couple of other installs, it works fine, though they were set up awhile back whereas I downloaded this plugin today for this particular website.
What could be wrong? I created a separate Twitter app for it and even tried the API keys to see if that works. Any guidance would be appreciated!

]]>I’ve got the plugin working on my site — https://www.onproductmanagement.net ….
But, a couple of issues.
1. If I run the plugin manually — from the Settings page — I always get:
Duplicate comment detected; it looks as though you’ve already said that!
Obviously the tweets will all look similar, or almost the same, though the sender/URL will be different.
What does this comment mean? Is it coming from the plugin or from WordPress indicating what it thinks is a duplicate comment?
2. This one may not be a plugin issue — most, if not all of the comments end up in the SPAM folder, when I have to manually go and remove and then approve.
Is there any way to stop them being classified as Spam, and then auto approving them?
The side effect of this, is that I (and other authors) get lots of emails asking them to approve these comments.
One author got 36 emails yesterday. ??
Thanks

]]>So, I have had this problem for a while. When you search Twitter for a URL with the preceding “https://www”, you won’t find the mention, but if you search without the “https://www”, you will find tweets.
Someone has posted about it, here.
It was happening with Disqus reactions, and I think this is the same reason why my site’s mentions are not being shown by the plugin. I tested it myself, by searching for a post using “https://www” and then without using it – only the latter one showed Twitter mentions.
Is there anyway to remove the “https://www.” part and search for remaining part only? Or, is the plugin supposed to work anyway, without making any changes?
Anyway, I tried replacing this part on calls.php:
$url = 'https://api.twitter.com/1.1/search/tweets.json?since_id=' . $lastID . '&q=' . urlencode( get_permalink( $postID ) );
with this :
$url = 'https://api.twitter.com/1.1/search/tweets.json?since_id=' . $lastID . '&q=' . urlencode( substr(get_permalink($postID),11) );
but it does not seem to work.
I’d appreciate some help. Thank you.

The “Twitter Consumer Key” area is blank, and there is this below it: Your Twitter Consumer Key (you can create one by registering a new app at dev.twitter.com/apps). When I go there, it is obvious that this is meant for developers, not users.
There is a second box below that called “Twitter Consumer Secret” and it is also empty. I have no idea what goes there, either.
I searched for help, but couldn’t find where you’d addressed this. I would appreciate it if you would go on easy on me re. the programming language as I am just your average WordPress user.

]]>I expect a lot of people do what we do which is to auto-tweet new articles to a twitter account. Having that tweet then appear as a comment doesn’t feel right – so I’ve added a line
if ($tweet->user->screen_name=="ouraccount") continue;
in the ‘insert_metions’ [sic!] function. I notice you have a bespoke ‘commentdata’ filter that could be used to do this, but it seems like this might be a common requirement.

I just upgraded to the latest version of Twitter Mentions, and am running WP 3.5.1. Everytime i tried to save my setting for the plugin, the page would refresh and show me 2 save settings success messages, but the settings are still the default values, including empty fields for the twitter api/secret keys.
I checked the db directly, and the values are not being saved. When i try to force edit in the db, and refresh the options page, the settings get reset to the default.
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling a few times, but the same issue.
Is anyone having the same issue? Any way around it?
Thanks, and thanks for the plugin!
