This great little plugin does exactly what it needs to – displays events that happened on any date in history. Love it. Thank you.

I run a website researching historical events in my local area. This plugin has been the backbone of the site content. It’s been very useful in displaying events for certain days, and also expanding the scope of the data to weeks, months and even centuries.
The events are easy to add to the database and I can include links and media in the posts also.
The use case for the plugin is quite niche, but if you require the functionality it offers I don’t think you’ll find a better option.

I don’t find a way to use years B.C. Also if the year has 3 digits it’s displayed like 0365 which is ugly.
I wrote an e-mail with some questions to the author, but am getting no response.
For the rest the plugin is ok.

Does the job really well, and the support is awesome. Really fast response and the author even pushed through an update to resolve an issue I had. Very impressive.

Great plugin but my homepage is not in English, so when there are no events it says in English “No Events” which is why I havent published it on my page yet. Are there any way to select my own words when there are no events? Also it would be nice if I could pick my own font size or design as I think it takes a lot of space even with no events. News banner size with color options would be nice. Right now it is very plain.

This was exactly what I was looking for for my baseball historical site. It makes it easy to add events. Thank you.

Love the idea. Any way of using this to show all posts from a certain day?

The plugin does what is says and that is it. Some more functionality or design would be nice. Maybe import/export database could be very nice to quickly backup or update the plugin. Also navigation like what happend yesterday or tomorrow would also be nice.

I use this app to display “On this day… something happened” on our main page. Check it out:

https://www.blackjackreview.com/wp/historical-events/
All of the events are blackjack related!
Works great.
I would love the app to have some integration with Twitter. In other words, it would be great if it could automatically post the current event “On this day…” on my Twitter page every day.

I’m running a danish history site. I had a similar feature when my site was based on Joomla. After migrating to WordPress some days ago, I found this Plugin. This Day In History was just what I was looking for ??
Thank you!

Good plug in for showing anniversary dates. There are ways that It could been improved.
It works towards something I have been wanting for some time. Thanks for your efforts.
I am editing this old review to congratulate the developer for the work done, and the difference that it makes is significant.

Thanks for creating this plugin … and one question – how to us some events in next year?
]]>Rating: 4 stars
Does exactly what I want it to. I used a widget shortcode creator plugin so now it has its own page. The only thing I would like to see is the categories that I create to be formatted differently than the events that I place in them. But other than that, it works perfect for what I need it for.

Super plugin.
Thank you.
My only suggestion would be to figure out how to have the option of having the events display chronologically, by MM-DD.
I have events that span many years, and it would be nice to see them in the order in which they will post to the widget.

I want to display the birth dates of famous British men and women on the appropriate day; this plugin does that effectively. I’d agree with the review stating importing data would be ideal. I’d also like to display the day and month next to the Widget title.

It works very good and does what it is supposed to do.
There would be a lot of thing to make it better, but it wouldn’t be as simple as it is.
I would like to have different locations so no manual modification is needed.
Thanks againg for your work!

Seems like a simple and straightforward plugin for what should be a simple and straightforward task, but the implementation is actually way too simple to be broadly useful!
Can’t display just one factoid per day, but forced to list at least ten at a time — and can’t accommodate dates in antiquity: i.e., B.C.!!!

This is of little use if you don’t connect events with posts. Why not showing posts from a specific posts category, instead of adding history events?

A plugin I have been looking for and works. I would like to see one thing added, if at all possible. I would like for a visitor to be able to enter any date to see all events for that date.
Thanks for such a useful plugin.

Thanks for creating this plugin.
I was looking for a plugin that would allow me to display the birthdays of ancestors in a widget on my family history site’s footer. While there are more elaborate plugins This Day In History does most of what I want without the weight and complexity of the other options.
The one thing I would add is that it would be ideal to be able to import/export using CSV files. When migrating information from one site to another or adding a large number of dates this would be a huge time saver. For example, I have over 400 birthdays I would like to enter. It is going to take ages to add them one at a time.
