It does add the page template dropdown for your custom post types, and selecting it will change the template accordingly.
However, if you leave the selection as default, the template will default to index.php instead of single-customposttype.php, so you are now forced to select a template for all your custom post types.

This was just the plugin I needed to allow me to offer multiple post layouts for a single site. I was not able to find anything else quite like it.

Perhaps i added the comment to the wrong file?
I added it to single.php since i wanted to use this with Pages, not Posts. Is that possible?
