Every time I use table of contents, I have to include a particular CSS class and exclude another. Is there a way to get the plugin to do this by default please? Thanks in advance.
I love this plugin for its simplicity and editability. I really wish it was updated to work with WP 6.0 and above.
Unfortunately on WP 6.1.1 with the quite basic Genesis Blocks theme, while in the editor all looks fine, once saving a page and loading it, the plugin includes all post-content headings in the actual render of the page.
While this topic has come up previously, what I find is that the “exclude container” function no longer works.
Exclusions of all affected containers .wp-block-post-content, .gb-post-grid-section-title, .has-text-align-center, .widget-title, .gb-profile-name do not carry over into the page render even when the plugin in the editor shows that everything should actually have been removed based on the settings.
I hope there’s an eventual fix for this because this really is the best and simplest ToC block out there.
It would definitely be better if it only shown headers from the content div by default – I found I need to add “.wp-block-post-content” to the include section to make it not pick up the headers from footer. Other plugins don’t do this.
Thanks for the plugin! It has what I need. However, I want the TOC to load collapsed by default on page load for the Mobile Devices and expanded for Desktop View. It’s working fine for Desktop View but is there any way to make it collapsed for Mobile View.
Please make the TOC link anchor text take up the values of the heading instead of the standard #ib-toc-anchor-#
/post-1/#ib-toc-anchor-1
To
/post-1/#This-is-heading
This would be easy to link straight to a heading even if the order of the heading is changed.

I would like to change scroll-behavior
:auto!important in “smooth”, is there a simple way to do that ?
Thx.
I have set up the TOC to appear on a sidebar which I’ve made as fixed. Is it possible to change the TOC heading link color when the page is scrolled to the related content and change it back when the user scrolls past it?
I’ve tried to get the collapse and uncollapse buttons to show, but nothing seems to work.
It doesn’t matter which I choose from the menu, none are visible on the site.
I’ve tried adding the filters from the userguide to my functions.php, but still no buttons visible.
Any idea how to fix this?
This is by far our most favorite easy-to-use ToC. One thing we noticed is even though there is a “Collapsable ToC” option, there doesn’t seem to be a way to have the ToC initially not collapsed.
I.e.: The ToC on the page shall be initially not collapsed, when viewing for the first time, but can be clicked to collapse.
Is there any ways to adjust or add that? Thank you!

This is my favorite TOC block by far, except it adds a number of render-blocking resources to my posts, lowering my Pagespeed Insights score by about 4 points.
Is there a way to fix this?
Thank you.
I’ve set the first TOC on this page to show
, and it works correctly.
I set the second TOC to show
and strangely it works correctly in the Editor but not on the live page as you can see.
I have also tried adding a css class to the section I want it to include,

, but this has the same result.
Any hints? Thank you ??

Dear Achal,
Thanks for the nice block plugin.
I am currently testing it with a website I’m making for a client. All seems to be working well when creating and configuring the block from H3 elements.
However, when I go back to a page where I’ve previously inserted this block, in the WordPress block editor I’m seeing the following message:
This block contains unexpected or invalid content” instead of the auto-generated block.
After pressing ‘Attempt Block Recovery’, most of the settings except for the Include/Exclude options are recovered properly.
I’m seeing the following PHP notices appear in my error log:
[proxy_fcgi:error] [pid 2791:tid 139760307791616] [client xx.xx.xx.xx] AH01071: Got error 'PHP message: PHP Notice: Undefined index: a:1:{s:3:"ssl";b:1;} in /var/www/example.com/public/wp-includes/class-requests.php on line 214PHP message: PHP Notice: Undefined index: a:1:{s:3:"ssl";b:1;} in /var/www/example.com/public/wp-includes/class-requests.php on line 214', referer: https://example.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=24&action=edit
(real URL + path replaced with example.com)
This same behavior happens on multiple pages of different length.
Using:
– WordPress 5.7.2
– several other plugins
Any clue on how to solve this?
Please let me know if I can help with any additional (non-sensitive ;-)) information.
Cheers!
Hi!
Thanks for developing this neat and super useful plugin!
I have run into two issues:
1) the tool keeps resetting and displaying all headlines in my article, even though I only want H3 in the TOC. I kept saving the post, refreshing, clearing my cache…
2) the TOC do not display when I try to create a PDF print from the page. Any ideas how I can fix that?
Many thanks!
I was trying your tool. It’s nice. I love the customization facility. But the fact is, it grabs all the H tags of my blog page, even of my footer contents, Also the related blog post titles. The site is designed with Elementor. Sorry, I can’t share the screenshot here. Please check it accordingly.
Hi,
I’ve been using your TablePress plugin for some time and it seemed to work very well. It’s a very good plugin to easily build complete useful tables, with image links, import/export, etc.
However, in the last weeks, it does not work with long or large tables, i.e. with a lot of rows. It is impossible to manipulate that kind of tables, to add, to change, or even not possible any commun parameter of the general table settings. It is even not possible to get access to that kind of tables. It’s very exasperating.
The browser states that unconvenient advice of “A website is slowing your browser. Stop it or wait?” (tested with Firefox and Chrome) and the requested table never shows up.
Thanks for your support.
Hi there!
I just started using your Table of Contents. Excellent plugin over all!
There are some headers I would like to exclude. I put either id or class on “exclude” box however only one of them (the first one) would be invisible. Can I select more than one?

Is it possible to include only the headers I wrote myself in the article?

great plugin! Exactly, what I was looking for.
Would it be possible to reverse the collapse?
Another question, I don’t know if it would be possible at all:
anchor links with descriptive names?
