I read some part is free, but the moment I install, it asks for an account and instantly paid options appear. Where is the free part?
]]>To provide you with the quickest and most effective support, we decided to be answering all of your questions via Surfer Support Team chat/email only – just go to our website and reach out to us via chat or drop us an email at [email protected].
We are not planning to coordinate or moderate the Forum here. You are, of course, welcomed to exchange your thoughts with other users, but our support agents won’t be answering questions here (we will, though, keep the published materials updated), as we believe we can serve you more efficiently via chat/email.
Here we published all the valuable materials on the plugin and troubleshooting, but in case of any questions or concerns, please contact us via email or chat. This way, we will be able to answer as soon as we can!
Check what exactly is Surfer’s WordPress plugin.
As a first step, please make sure that you followed all the installation steps.
Troubleshooting
How to Troubleshoot the following issues:
? “Oops, we were not able to connect with your WordPress site” error in Surfer*
? Export is blank
? “We are unable to export your content” error in Surfer
Editor/builder types
Check if you use Classic or Gutenberg editors/builders, as the plugin supports only these at the moment.
Posts older than 30 days
Check if the WP post you want to update is no older than 30 last days. At the moment, we only provide you with the view of the posts form within the previous 30 days, so if they are older, they won’t be available on the list.
Wordfence
If you use the Wordfence plugin, follow these steps to enable plugin to work alongside Wordfence.
– Go to wp-admin ? WordFence ? All Options.?
– Look for a “Brute Force Protection” section.
– Find a “Disable WordPress application passwords” option, unmark it and save the settings.
Other plugins installled
If you have any other plugins installed, you can temporarily disable all of them and check if it fixes the issue. If yes, activate them one by one and check when an error will appear in this case.
GoDaddy hosting
their firewall may be blocking data export. In such case, we can get your export request (the action when you try to export the file from Surfer to WP) data in Surfer, so you can pass it to GoDaddy to solve it. Just contact us sharing the actual time you tried the export, so we can easily find it.
? If you have 403 Forbidden error
it means that there are WP settings that don’t allow user to upload plugins. Please reach out to your hosting provider to disable these settings (like mod security).
? No images in the export
Were the images you added in jpg. format? If yes, please try to change it to png. and then try the export again. It’s possible that the export failed due to the decreased image quality.
? Timeout/very random error during the export
Sometimes the exports succeed after a couple of attempts, so it would be great if you could try the export again.
*Addition to the “Oops, we were not able to connect with your WordPress site”: when the basic troubleshooting above is not helping, please try going to wp-admin ? Settings ? Permalinks and look if you have a “Custom Structure” option checked with the content like this: /index.php/%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/.
If yes, remove the index.php to get /%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/.
You can read more about the safety of this process here in this article: https://wpsutra.com/remove-index-php-wordpress-permalink/
If nothing of the above help, please contact us via chat or email, our Support team will be happy to help!

Keyword Surfer module
The Keyword Surfer module allows you to get keyword suggestions. All you need to do is to put a keyword that you want to find similar keywords for, the location that you want to rank for, and click on the purple button.
MAGNIFYING GLASS icon – search volume per month.
“PAGES” icon – similarity score – how similar are the SERPs of your keyword compared to the one from the list.
DOLAR icon – cost per click for Google Adwords campaigns.
No results – it means that we do not have data for this keyword, and the best solution would be to try with another one.
