I’ve been using this for a while but it needs a big fix. The plugin should send mail singly and spread out over time rather than all at once. I’m getting complaints from my ISP that the plugin is overloading the server with huge dumps of email. I only have about 1,500 subscribers and if that is overloading then I can only imagine how bad it must be with more popular blogs. Please implement this.
I just downgraded my review from five stars to one star. See… there’s a problem that this plugin creates: it overloads the servers with email as described above. I just discovered that the developer is offering a fix for that for $29.99 PER FREAKING YEAR!!!!! It was bad enough that the developer creates a problem and then offers to solve it for a fee. It was worse that the fee is kind of high – I finally decided to pay it untill I discovered… It is absurd that the fee is a reoccurring annual subscription. No thanks.

This tool meets our expectations, I would like to recommend.

Seemed to do what I wanted but I cannot get new members to show up as subscribers even after following the developers instructions. Because of this when I make a new post only the admin is emailed. I have to go in manually every time someone subscribes and change their role. Not so automated. If I cannot fix this I will uninstall.

Causes unsolicited email distribution via unprotected Subscribe to e-mail form. There is no reCaptcha or other protection. My Internet Service Provider closed down my site due to this.

In no case do not install this plugin!!! There is no captcha, and without it from your site will be sent spam! I wrote the hoster that on our server in the queue to send hundreds of letters. All because of this plugin. Do not install it!

Subscribers now can easily get notifications when I publish a new post and find out everything about new methods of acupuncture available in my salon.

Dont waste your time. I lost over 100 subscribers because this plugin was installed, tested, and working fine. The site went public, and a few days in the plugin just stopped working.
Support is there, but poor. We’re several days in, and no further forward. All I’m getting is told what I see on my screen isnt actually there. The guys seems to get very stroppy when told his plugin has problems. Its bordering on aggressive.

I just now installed this plugin, and manually tried sending email notification to all my 1000 registered users, and the plugin did the job efficiently within some moments.
It is certainly a good and straightforward plugin for sending email notifications to registered users in bulk.
However I hope it is updated regularly to keep it compatible with the latest WordPress.

Be very wary of this plugin. Firstly, it hasn’t been updated in 7 months, and that’s a red flag. I own a digital agency and my developers are very familiar with plugins. We built and maintain several plugins that we sell to the public. I tell you all of that to give you perspective to our plugin experience and expertise.
We used this plugin on a new client site because it was used on their old site, and they didn’t have any problem with it.
We installed this plugin on the client’s Beta site (in-development website). After importing our client’s subscriber list, we then batch-imported our client’s blog posts from their old site. And without any warning or indication, the plugin began a MASSIVE run of sending email notifications of each blog post published to the entire subscriber list.
We caught this about half-way through, and did everything we could to stop the emails from coming; our datacenter manually disabled website email sending and we DEACTIVATED THE PLUGIN. In fact, they were able to confirm through our datacenter partner that despite disabling website sending at the server level (which should have stopped this issue in its tracks), the plugin kept sending email.
… But the emails kept coming. and coming. and coming. This was an unmitigated disaster for our client and I felt paralyzed and helpless, seemingly unable to make it stop.
We have deleted the plugin, never to return. Our datacenter described the situation with Subscribe2 as a “physical impossibility” that the plugin could keep sending mail when all of these safeguards were put in place (disabling mail sending, deactivating the plugin, etc…)
We will be syndicating email via Mail Chimp or Active Campaign moving forward, and I advise everyone to do the same.

This plugin has reliably sent out notifications to my subscribers for each new post. If that is what you need, then this is a good choice.
But sometimes I don’t want the plugin to send out a notification. That was the case today when I changed a post from private to public – but I didn’t want everyone to know about that change – only if they happened to stumble upon it. I manually checked the option to disable sending the post, but that didn’t matter – the plugin still efficiently sent out notifications to each and every one of my subscribers. I confirmed this with the 3rd party mail service I use.
NOT what I wanted.
I think next time I want to keep something private, I will just deactivate the plugin first!

I have just started using this plugin.
I’ve tried many others to accomplish similar goals on my various websites
There are a few others I have tried but Subscribe2 is the best
I’ve been developing websites for a very long time and am having quite a great experience with this plugn
It does exactly what I need it to do so I have no complaints
This is what web development should be all about IMHO

Thanks to the dev team for a fantastic update. This plugin seems to be back on track. I’m back to recommending this to other developers for their sites. I remember thinking awhile ago that this was the best email subscription plugin and happy to say that I feel that way again.

I’m using plugin on my website and it is working perfectly ok! 100% mobile responsive and user friendly.

Subscribe2 has been good to me. It did its job and got out of the way. That is, until today, when after posting resulted in a stream of near-endless duplicate emails, at least 200+ I received myself. Now worst case but realistic case is that my subscribers also have hundreds of unwanted emails in their Inboxes. Show stopper. Goodbye Subscribe2. Deleted.

Although I’ve had a few minor problems over the several years I’ve been using S2, the support staff has been quick in helping me figure out what was wrong. I depend on it sending out notifications to my subscribers.

I used this program for a number of years, then they introduced some adverts (can not blame them), which, after months of problems, was removed. Now it’s intermittent, even with the additional WPMQ regulator. I am using shared server in Texas, and have over 1200 in the list. Switched to Mail Chimp. Subscribe2 is nice and simple, and I am still using it on a couple of lists of about 200. I suggest changing the value on the
class-s2-core.php
to:
$this->excerpt_length = apply_filters('s2_excerpt_length', 3055);
so the full extract will be viewable within the emails. I do like the fact that the emails are sent out right away when posted.

Does what it says – emails subscribers your blog posts. Reliable.

Installed the plugin on several sites, I did not have any problems with it.
But since my last review the pluin has not been updated for many months and I am getting problems with robots trying to sign up. A lot of bounced confirmation mails to non existing addresses. The plugin really needs a update and some form of “prove you are a human” verification

Geweldige plug-in. Werkt meteen en zeer makkelijke en duidelijke installatie!

This plugin has been working fine for years. But a few months ago it stopped sending notifications when something has been updated. There is nothing wrong with any email settings because the plugin can still send email if you use the “Send email” form in the plugin. It is just the automated notifications that are broken, which is kind of the main functionality of this plugin…

Funktioniert gut bei neuen Beitr?gen, nur bei Kommentaren kommt nichts zurück.

Had this plugin for almost 2 years and in the past 3 months it started to play up majorly. It stopped sending out email notifications to subscribers when I publish a new post, or it only does it when it feels like it. When readers subscribe, it no longer sends them a confirmation email to activate so I have all these unconfirmed email addresses sitting there useless both on my end and theirs.
I even had my domain host alter things from their end to rectify the problem but nothing worked. Shopping for another service now and what a pain cos I gotta integrate all my existing subscribers over to the new one without inconveniencing them…or losing any. What a mess!

Works great! Sends an email to all my registered members when I write a new post! Thanks for this awesome plugin!

Tried to unsubscribe users from a list and the plugin deleted the actual users.
No email subscription plugin should directly delete users.
