much more secure to have that extra sign-in code. Very simple to set up too!

Seems to work fine, but…
I have a WP site that I almost *never* need to login to (maybe a few times a year) and I was still seeing a lot of bot attempts, so I stopped using this and simply added ‘exit;’ after the opening PHP tag in the wp-login.php page.
This basically kills the login page dead and prevents ANY login, even legitimate ones. Yes, it’s crude, but it stops 100% of ALL login attempts cold.
If I need to login, I ftp in, remark out the ‘exit’ command and login. Yes, it’s a little bit more cumbersome but for a site that is almost never logged in to it works perfectly.

Works just as described. I see no reason for anybody to give this plugin a low rating.

Reduces frequency of brute-force attack on any WordPress site were it is installed and enabled.

This plugin just works like a charm. Also the customized page to redirect our lamers it’s a great idea. Thanks and congrats.

Another of my must-have plugins for basic WordPress hardening, this plugin stomps brute-force attacks.

I added this plugin yesterday and the next time I tried to access my dashboard it redirected me to a blank login page. Blank as in plain white.
It took some searching to find out bad plugin code can do this. When I deleted the files for stealth login off my server, everything went back to normal.
Please fix, ASAP!

I really like this plugin. I use it with the Recaptcha and it stopped all the unwanted login attempts I was receiving.

It does his job.

Installed this plugin while my site was brute force login attacked to thwart the bots. The bots were trying the user names “admin”, “test” and <mydomianname> without the .com and originating from IP addresses worldwide at 10 to 15 attempts per minute. Luckily I don’t use any of those weak logins and have very long random passwords.
The plugin is small, uncomplicated to use and there’s no bypassing it. The failed login redirect is nice to send traffic back to the bots and tie up their bandwidth.

Thanks for this plugin.

Great plugin to add to your security arsenal.

Although the cloaked URL feature isn’t there, the other features are still well worth having on your site. The authentication field in particular is brilliantly executed. Many thanks!

Since the last update the cloaked url’s are suddenly missing. This function was the main reason for installing this plugin. In my opinion it is a great security measure that people have difficulty with finding the correct login url. I would really like the cloaked url function to return again!

Game changer….really? I liked the old masked URL’s better, that was a game changer.
This passcode/pincode thing is definitely NOT a game changer. I use Google Authenticator and Login Lockdown to take care of this. Google Authenticator will at least change the pincode every 30 seconds. This plugin has now become more noise in the WordPress Repository.
Please bring back the masked .wp-login.php feature.

Before the last update, the login url was completely masked. It kept most login attempts by botnets outside. Which was really good. Now, you are required to fill in a passcode (like Google Authenticator, only the code stays the same for ever, until you change it).
Would be awesome if I as the admin could use both the masked url as well as the passcode. I know, this only provides basic security, but hey.. it worked before. Now most botnets will try anyways, which I don’t want them to.

This plugin worked fine until I updated it today. After the update, I was locked out of my blog and had to go into htaccess and disable all my plugins to get back in. Any fixes on the horizon?

This plugin is the best available. It would be better, if the login page of WordPress (wp-login.php) were in a separate folder, so a customer can securely and easy protect the login page via .htaccess, but as long as this is not done, this plugin is absolutely necessary.

Needed a plugin yesterday to redirect a big roach that was trying to brute force its way into my site.
It worked perfectly! Many thanks!

Good idea but causes some plugins to break.

Excellent job! We’ve talked a decent amount internally about obscuring our login screen, but had never come up with such a simple and effective method. We’re excited to see how this decreases the thousand or so login hack attempts we get a month.

Didn’t work for me and I had cpanel and delete the plugin to regain access to site.
I was looking for an easy login plugin that simply changed the wp-login.php file. Having this will limit most attacks on the the server for my sites anyway. Not a total solution but one where it would stop auto-bots.
Thanks.

This plugin is phenominal. Works brilliantly and since installing I haven’t had a single hiccup on my site, no hack attempts, not even spam comments!! =D I’m surprised it’s free! Love It!!

Was looking for a way to hide the login page as I’m getting a lot of ‘admin’ logins. Just installed so can’t say how it will do long-term in blocking the bots and other ***holes, but the plugin does work as stated with testing the site through other browsers – hopefully I get a lot less logins.
Very simple to use, simply fill in a few fields and you don’t have to touch the plugin again – you only need to remember the new custom login url. Only con, though not really one, is that the documentation is in a separate tab and not together with the settings, but that’s really a non-issue.
Many thanks!
