I needed a button to work with SiteOrigin’s PageBuilder. PB’s built in button widget does not look or work good at all, and other button plugins were not integrating properly with PB in widget form.
I determined that a shortcode button in a text/HTML widget box was my best option. I also needed the buttons to fill out the width of any of the PageBuilder columns, so adding “display:block;” via CSS was a must.
I tried MaxButtons first, and though I preferred it over Standout for the color customizations, I found it to be a bit cumbersome overall.
On the other hand, I can implement any number of Standout buttons in a text/HTML widget – with the necessary CSS in style.css – and have it look correct.
The colors and button shapes are not as flexible out of the box as other plugins, and perhaps slightly understyled by comparison, but this simplicity works in its favor – and they’ll also stand the test of time, while funkier designs will quickly date themselves.

Awesome plugin!

I tried two other plugins and quickly uninstalled and deleted both of them before finding Standout CSS3 buttons!
Standout CSS3 buttons DEFINITELY will not be uninstalled! If you are searching for a great buttons plugin that is very easy to use, this is definitely the one!

It’s been very easy to use and customize via css. I recommend this plug-in.
The color scheme is also pretty great.

its very good plugin for making buttons. but I have to memorize the shortcode.

So, we have to dig around to figure out what is the elusive shortcode, (hint it;s in the FAQ and difficult to copy/paste the one partially hidden example there), then we have memorize that shortcode because there’s no post editor toolbar button? I found it interesting that the FAQ includes an instruction how to remove the post editor toolbar button, yet I don’t see one. This plugin looks great on the surface, but it could really use a little more user-friendly refinement and more detailed documentation (like showing the actual shortcode to use for each of the color styles avaialble), and it would be nice to be able to select a custom color of our own, via a simple color chooser in the admin.

Works as advertised. Give it a try. Just put in the shortcode and edit the text as you wish.
