Just what I needed to update my WordPress plugins on Linode. On Dreamhost it happens automatically, but I can’t run a socket server there.

works right !

Thank you for this plugin. It takes some pain off having to work in SFTP and SSH – all the hassle in the name of extra security.

Simple, easy, and save lot of work TY

This solved my problems with setting up proper SFTP update/installation.
Works perfectly, thank you!

Attempting to update from WordPress 4.9.4 to 4.9.5, when I click on the update instead of giving me the screen from this plugin to enter the ssh details it goes straight to attempting to download from the WordPress site and fails.
I can still update plugins in 4.9.4 using this plugin successfully.
Tried on two different sites.
It looks like something in WordPress 4.9.4 broke the compatibility with this and it was only revealed when attempting to use it to upgrade to 4.9.5

No longer working. Prevents theme preview, and will not login to my server either.

I recently upgraded my VPS. After that I was unable to update plugins using SSH2. I was getting this error : “Unable to locate WordPress Content directory (wp-content)”. This plugin fixed the problem. Just put the plugin files in the plugins folder, enabled the plugin from admin area. Everything started working!

Excellent plugin, no fuss, no, setup, nothing. Just install, activate, and go!
In Ubuntu 16.04 the php-ssh2 has been giving problems with WP automatic updates. This plugin doesn’t require php-ssh2 while offering the ssh functionality for updates. There’s no setup required after activation, in the plugin. You setup your SSH parameters in your wp-config, for your FTP-user, wp-user, as in example below:
define(‘FTP_PUBKEY’,’/home/wp-user/wp_rsa.pub’);
define(‘FTP_PRIKEY’,’/home/wp-user/wp_rsa’);
define(‘FTP_USER’,’wp-user’);
define(‘FTP_PASS’,”);
define(‘FTP_HOST’,’127.0.0.1:22′);
I would strongly recommend donating to this plugin.
Thank you for such excellent public service!

With the latest update to 0.7.2 this now works fine with my WP 4.9.1 installation. Nice to know that software can keep on running with very little extra maintenance.

This simply works.

Plain FTP simply isn’t secure enough for everyday use. SFTP is great, but WordPress can make it a bit of a pain. This plugin makes it dirt simple, and works perfectly despite not having been updated in two years.

As above.

Exactly what i needed

I upgraded to php7.0 and the previous pecl based sftp setup stopped working.
This plugin, plus the fix which Navcot posted in the support thread, allowed updates to be handled securely again in my multisite config.

This is a great plugin when using SSH2. Without it would be a very difficult job to update plugins and wordpress.

I was fighting this problem for 3 hours. Installed the plugin and suddenly everything works. Great job!

Very simple to use and very effective

Apparently there is a bug in the php-ssh2 extension.
I tried using the pecl extension instead but kept having problems.
sudo apt-get install -y libssh2-1-dev php-pear
sudo pecl install ssh2-1.0
sudo ln -s /etc/php/7.0/mods-available/ssh2.ini /etc/php/7.0/fpm/conf.d/20-ssh2.ini
sudo service php7.0-fpm restart
Always got the error “Unable to locate WordPress content directory (wp-content)”.
So I downloaded this plugin, uploaded it via scp to the server and it worked immediately.
Thanks for saving the day

Just installed WordPress…wanted to update to the latest 4.7.1. WordPress was giving me some crap about not finding the install directory (like, dude….you are IN it) Installed the plugin (manually downloaded, unzipped and sftp’d it to the plugins directory) and BOOM….automatic updating works with the press of a button now (with the same ssh2 host/user/pass as i tried before) Thanks fellas.

Great Plugin. Thanks ??

Had to look around in support for some user tips and wp-config options, before it would work for me. But now all upgrades are secured.
Thanks

New to WP, which I installed on my own server; the server only allows remote login via SSH for security reasons.
I was dismayed to discover while attempting to install a theme that the theme installer only supports unsecured FTP. One quick Google search later I discovered this plugin, installed it, and it works perfectly. I was able to install my theme using SFTP.
Thanks, guys!

I was thinking this plugin was going to make it easier to setup SSH SFTP. It gave me some fields to fill in that I did not know how to fill in. If I had known how to fill them in, I would have been able to setup SSH SFTP without the plugin
Then when I asked about it, my question was closed without a response.
I lived, but the experience was disappointing.
Really, this is the only disappointment I have encountered with WordPress or its plugins.
Thank you.

I was really surprised that this feature wasn’t supported by wordpress, this plugin saved me a lot of time manually installing updates.

After upgrading to Ubuntu 16.04 and PHP7, I just couldn’t get the auto updates using SSH2 to work, even though I was using pretty much the same configuration as with my old Ubuntu 14.04 server. PHPinfo() reported the SSH2 extension was installed, private and public keys configured correctly, folder permissions as well… After installing this plugin, the problem was instantly resolved.
