many thanks for the great plugin. I noticed when optimizing BULK that file names with special German characters:
??ü???ü are not optimized.
Example:
attachment #35988: start compressing… 35988: Compressed successfully, updating… #35988: ? Backup original image failed: …privat…/wp-content/uploads/2007/04/tatort-blütentr?ume-3.jpg/tatort-bluetentraeume-3.bak.jpg

when the automatic compression setting is enabled i would expect to see the green tick “compressed” after uploading an image to the library for confirmation. i see it generated a bak file and compressed the file on the server, but the media gallery still allowes me to compress it – again!? why?

I’ve installed your plugin to test on a small site with only 19 images and bulk-optimized them all.
I can see that some .jpg files got updated and reduced in size, but I don’t see any .webp or .avif images anywhere on the server. Also, nothing happens on the actual website. It’s still using the original .jpg images instead of .avif or .webp ones, which can be confirmed on the Network tab of the browser Dev Tools. How do I make the website use the optimized images in modern formats instead of the originals?

I just noticed that the plugin compresses big JPG images but not big PNGs. When the PNG size is bigger than around 700kb and I try to compress it this error message is display: “An error has occured. Check the console for details. “

]]>There are about 1,700 images on our site. After about 1,100 were processed, I had to restart. However, no matter what, it will not restart prosessing the images that are left. Is that our host stopping it?
Second, if I change the settings to a different level of optimization, will it redo all the previously optimized images again?
Finally, does this plugin also optimize all sizes for an image, such as thumbnails, etc.?
