I noticed this plugin was updated after a very long time of inactivity. Is there any changelog for the 1.3.10 version?
According to Beaver Builder, Spots is able to use Beaver Builder to add modules to a Spots widget. However, when I do that, the BB modules are ignored and their text equivalents are used instead.
Does Spots recognise BB’s features, or should BB not say that it can?
I’m trying to add some general contact info, disclaimers, etc… to this site and I need them to display on the Opt-in form pop-up. (I used Opt-in Hound plug-in.) I went through a bunch of plug-ins before I found an opt-in form that works the way I want it to. Now I can’t figure out how to add a footer. There is a custom CSS field, but I’m totally new at this and I don’t know if I can add a text widget or spot that way. And if I can, what is the proper syntax? Help the newbie.
Hi – been using and recommending Spots for years for many sites that we’ve built as it’s so easy to insert content anywhere but still edit it using the TinyMCE editor.
Just started to use GeneratePress theme (which is awesome too) but it appears the ‘Page Header’ content area (which accepts shortcodes) doesn’t convert a Spot shortcode. The shortcode works perfectly well within the main content part of the page, but not in this header area.
Tom at GeneratePress suggests I contact you, and says: “Hmm, not sure why it wouldn’t work, as the page header textarea runs through the do_shortcode() WordPress function. Might be worth asking the developer of that plugin if it will only run inside the WP content and no where else.”
I have found a workaround by creating my own shortcode with a spotname parameter to insert your code, but this relies on the client typing it all in correctly. Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance ?? Andy
Hi,
Problem:https://stage.pemchamber.com/directory/ (See Footer)
I’ve tried disabling cache. I’m guessing the Spots plugin and Sabai Directory plugin are interfering with each other. I’m just not sure how. Any ideas would be appreciated it. I have the fusion builder shortcode in both a spot and text widget. The text widget is working so I know it’s not an issue between fusion builder and the directory plugin. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thank you

Hi, I’m using Spost plugin with Divi builder. I created a little box called “Marque sua consulta!” and the words “Atendimento” and “aqui” were supposed to appear with the usual blue color, indicating it’s a hyperlink, but nothing happened. I highlightened them with a bold resource by now.
I would thanks in advance if someone could help me fixing that. ??

I created a spot and it has a permalink to its own page. As a spot is intended to be added to a widget this should not be present, or an option to remove it. How can I do this please?
How do I also remove other features of the spot like Featured Image? Thats also unnecessary if I am just adding content to a widget.
Thanks
Hi,
I’m noticing that in WordPress 4.4, the entry for Spots in the WP Admin menu has two overlapping icons. I am seeing Spot’s own icon, but also the standard WordPress drawing pin icon.
I think this is just since the upgrade to WP 4.4.

I know this has been a recurring issue so I’m sorry to have to report this but the button to insert a spot shortcode into text area using the visual editor is having problems.
I found an older, resolved thread so I can at least manually insert the shortcode without the button.
Can you look into this? The button to be able to insert Spots is MUCH easier to use!

format_for_editor() is WP 4.3 only, but the plugin says it only requires WP 4.0+.
Upgrading to Spots 1.3.4 causes fatal errors on 4.2.4 and below.
I use Spots plugin on all sites – very useful for clients to add markup from within the visual editor. However, Spots is not listed when assigning AddQuickTags to template/post types. Is there any work-around for this?

Is there an option or fix to prevent it? I’m getting a lot of duplicate drafts for existing spots created randomly throughout the day but otherwise works great
Hello,
On one of several sites on the same server the Menu item for Spots is not showing and I can’t create a new one in the Widgets section. If I click create new from the Widget it does not open an editor either.
Howdy Folks,
I’m using Spots in a few places within Pages on a WordPress build, and as a widget.
The Spot in the widget is working great, but, in every instance of a Spot inserted with shortcode, the live page displays a blank, and when logged in, displays blank with a link that reads “Click here to edit Spot id=”1234” (whatever the ID of the Spot is in the shortcode).
Clicking that edit link takes you, rather than to the actual Spot associated with the ID, to a draft of a new Spot, which has the content of, “Click here to edit Spot 1234” and a Title of, “1234” in quotes. Strange!
Deleting the shortcode and re-inserting a Spot produces the same link to a new draft page, as does creating a new Spot and inserting that one.
Spots in Widgets work fine; it seems to only be the instances using shortcodes that are affected. I am also using two other plugins on this WordPress build that use shortcodes, and I’ve heard 4.0.1 may be having some issues with shortcodes, but those two plugins are both working fine.
So, a very strange issue. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
Hello,
I’ve installed Spots on a child theme of WP TwentyFourteen. I’m on WP 4.0. The Spots button in the visual editor on Pages simply loads a blank window. I’ve reinstalled the plugin and cleared my cache and neither worked for me.
Could someone maybe tell me the shortcode for including a spot within a page in the meantime, or direct me to a resource with a list of shortcodes Spots uses? I have had a hard time finding one.
Hello,
I am having issues using two different shortcodes inside a spot. One shortcode is provided by the theme and the other shortcode is from a plugin.
I saw a similar question and part of your reply said: If that shortcode isn’t registered at the time the spot tries to call it…”
Question: How can I determine if/when the shortcode is registered?
The theme’s author suggested adding add_filter(‘widget_text’, ‘do_shortcode’); to functions.php (as suggested here) but that did not seem to have any effect. Although I think perhaps ‘widget_text’ in the filter needed to be replaced with a reference to the spots widget but I could not determine what that reference should be.
Questions:
1. Have you run into this before and do you know what the fix is?
2. Can you recommend any additional troubleshooting I can do? (I have tried disabling all the plugins, changing themes, etc).
Here is a link to the site.
Thank you.

I′m using the ‘CM Tooltip Glossary’ plugin. If i activate this plugin, the spots i used will display as links. At once in the administration a few spots list in draft mode. If i disable the ‘CM Tooltip Glossary’ plugin all display well.
First off: Thanks for this great plugin! Hate to turn to you because of this but I came here searching for a solution for that markup error being thrown by the styles for the edit button/link (I′m using a Genesis childtheme, onboard at the moment). It′s the only one on my pages for the moment and unfortunately I got a picky customer…
I read the thread about disabling the edit link, but it′s surely a useful thing in most places, I′d prefer to not disable it entirely for this case (if that would help anyway). Is there something else I can do?
(Wouldn′t the header be a better place to put these styles in…?)
There should be a way to prevent the edit link from being added. Adding the link automatically assumes that the content is pure html content and that adding the link won’t break the surrounding html markup.
eg. the cycle2 slideshow plugin for jQuery has markup like

I put the data-cycle- lines in a spot and the edit link totally broke that page.
Just upgraded to Spots 1.2.1 and now when I add a new Spot widget (or edit an existing one) with an empty ‘Title’ field, then try to save, the widget keeps populating the ‘Title’ field with the Spot name. I tested with an earlier version of Spots (also on WP 3.9) and this does not happen.
I can hide all Spot widget titles using CSS, but I sometimes use them, so not an option here.
Is this a bug, or a new ‘feature’?
Cheers ??
If possible I would like to have only one template with the spots tag in on place on the template. When publishing a page, how do you set which spot to use for that page?
I’m using the excellent Event Organiser plugin by Stephen Harris. I’d love to use Spots as I have some text which needs to be repeated on every event page. However, it’s causing a conflict with the event details display.
Is this something I could fix myself? Any hints appreciated.
Great plugin but with 3.9 wordpress the button to insert a spot doesn’t work correctly. There is an area for the button in the toolbar but it is blank. You can click it and bring up the insert spot box anyway. But when you select a spot and click insert the box says “0” and hangs. You can still insert the shortcode manually and it works.
I have another plugin I use where 3.9 disappeared the insert button for that one altogether, so I think the problem is with the new editor interface in 3.9.
Hopefully these problems get worked out soon because this is an excellent plugin.

I am using spots to generate a signature on the bottom of all my posts.
I have recently look to use shareaholic for some of the social media management on my blog.
Unfortunately I am getting the social media shareaholic button within the Spot. https://www.jabbering.co.uk/general/just-wanted-ask/
I am wondering if anyone has come across this issue and know how to get rid of it. I am guessing I will need to edit something in either spots or Shareaholic.

I agree that referencing the Spot by its ID in the shortcode makes a lot of sense, because that won’t change. However, I believe the TinyMCE button should also include the text that is the title of the spot so that the shortcode is more human readable. When editing a page, which would make more sense to a typical content contributor?
