I’ve noticed that using this plugin to enable sharing to Bluesky will mean that any users who would have to actually edit the Bluesky post in order for the post to correctly display the featured image and excerpt. Specifically, the posing user has to add two line breaks before the link, in order to create enough separation for Bluesky to distinguish between the text and the link, and thereby read the target URL’s info.

Most users are unlikely to do this, and most will probably not even think to try. Instead of the featured image and excerpt, the post will simply be a text of the post title, a dash, and a hyperlink. This will mean result in posts shared to Bluesky using this plugin’s widget will not be especially eye catching, and just boring, ultimately leading to low engagement.

Is there a way to modify how the Bluesky post will be rendered by default when using the widget?

Hello, I wanted to create a pattern for social sharing links which I could use on all single posts via template. But – when I do this it shares the name of the pattern and not the current post. I am using a hybrid theme. Is it an issue with not using a block theme or just something I can’t do right now? Thanks!

We’re having an issue with images not showing on the Pinterest link. Any ideas why? All the other platforms work and show the image, but Pinterest doesn’t. I can pin something and the image will show on Pinterest when it’s pinned, but the actual little popup that shows when I click the pinterest icon doesn’t load the image. Any ideas? Thank you!

I’d like to suggest that Threads be added to the list of supported social media sites. The current version of WordPress has the icon already as part of its Social Icons.

Thanks for this great plugin! I noticed an issue with quotes, single quotes, and apostrophes in post titles. A post with a title like this:

This post’s sharing doesn’t ‘work’ “correctly”

Ends up like this when you share it to Twitter or email:

Hello, I like this block very much. Simple and well constructed.

I need the WhatsApp button act as “contact us” instead of sharing, for this the target phone number is need it. The URL for WhatsApp API should be:

https://api.whatsapp.com/send?text=$$$&phone=###

I forked the git repo, modified and made a pull request.

I’m using this modified version for now.

tl;dr
Add option to set specific share URL when using page, not post.
Fix Pinterest API method not found. Please update api.

Nick, I love your lightweight clean code and cleaner design, I’m a fan of your Nautilus Theme btw. This post is about Social Sharing Block.

I’m using a Gutenberg Block Theme (Brian Gardner’s Design Mode) and I’m using it as intended (latest posts setting for home page) and using the native template (blocks, not query/index). However, as you may know, it doesn’t display latest posts but instead blocks for the page design.

Here’s the issue…
When I add your SSB to the homepage the URL parameters grab the latest post and not the page URL. This is ONLY an issue for the homepage

I understand that I would be forced to create a dedicated page and change settings to use that page versus latest posts but that creates entirely new problems and the native edit site (beta) feature is no longer in play….

Hello, I’m using the social icons using the in-site editor and have been able to place the email and LinkedIn icons, but I don’t have any way of including the link to my email or LinkedIn page. I found a tutorial that said if I click on the icon a link box should appear and put it there, but nothing happens when I click. Thanks.

I have another suggestion.
The block function in the plugin is pretty cool, but in the long run and with many posts a bit annoying to insert the block everywhere. Would it be possible to have a minimum settings page where you can tick a box to automatically add the share block to all posts?

I noticed that you used outline logos for whatsapp and reddit which is kind of different to all the other logos. Would be nice if you could change those logos also to the fill version. Would give a much more consistent look.

This plugin works great, but I wonder if there’s a way to open the links in small windows and not new browser tabs.
When I click in one of the social icons, it opens a new browser tab, and it looks really weird, because the share area is too small for the browser.

Elementor, for instance, has a social share widget that opens new windows that have their size adjusted to each social network.

If you’re going to add features, I’d like to see the default colours to be the colours that the social networks actually use as seen (for example) here: https://www.lockedownseo.com/social-media-colors/
Also, changing the size of the icons would be a big benefit.

How does this block handles the privacy of my visitors?
How are cookies and FB pixels handled?
