Is it possible to link a picture to an URL with a target=”_blank”?

I am brand new at WordPress and website administration. I am trying to update the website and updated it to PHP ea-php74 but now I receive and error at top of page that says: “Deprecated: Function create_function() is deprecated in /home2/c319371/public_html/wp-content/plugins/smooth-slider/slider_versions/widgets_1.php on line 52”

My version of Smoothslider is 2.8.8

Could anyone help me fix this?

Hi when using smooth slider on a phone the text from the slider overflows into the content below. I have checked the forumn and only entry mentioned a non-standard version, I was tyring to add overflow:hidden property but I have not managed to me succesful. any help would be greatly apreciated. It fine on a full width screen but when there is too much text for the slider it overlays on the content below the slider.

After upgrading core wordpress to 4.7 from 4.6.2, the sliders are all showing as 50px height.

Ever since the latest update, using Smooth Slider on my homepage to show “recent posts” show post text on a black background. This used to be a white background (like the posts/pages itself have).
1. How come?
2. How can I resolve this problem and get back my white (or better: transparant) background?

How to show 2 posts at a time in a slider

This plugin works responsively except that at narrow browser widths a hugh expanse of space displays between it and the next batch of content.

Inspecting the page I see a class=”smooth_slider” that includes style=”min-height: 600px;”

I cannot find where this is coming from. I cannot find it in settings, nore in any of the three plugin CSS files. Attempts to override it in Custom CSS with
#smooth_slider
{ min-height: 100%; }
and variants seem to be ineffective.

Any suggestions welcome.

I’ve found an issue in your plugin. If any post is too big, the excerpt code is not working, making the content overflow the page. The only solution that works for me is to comment the code below in the functions.php file.

We have no problem with the plugin…it works perfectly in all of our installations, however we’re in the process of upgrading our php version to 7.1 and we used a WP Engine tester and it says the most recent version is not compatible with 7.1. It works fine on 7.0.

Just wanted to get an idea for timing of our upgrade.

it also doesnt show preview (also with the above message) in the admin.php?page=smooth-slider-settings page

I received word that this plugin was removed from the WordPress repository yesterday afternoon.

Any information as to why? I plan to remove it immediately as it is unclear if there is a security threat or if it simply no longer compatible with the latest version of WordPress.

I hope someone can shed some light as the plugin has continued to work well for us for some time.

Can I know how to make a slider with 3 slides/images at a time and when slide it slides to 4th slide. Is it possible?

Looks like the slide expiration date feature stopped working. This is a very useful feature for us, seeing as after an event happens, we want the slide to be removed automatically.

Any reason for this? Thanks!

Grrr. End of rant, except to say that I’ve tried 3 or 4 sliders and always hit a similar wall – NO SLIDER, just the images all showing up.

But SMOOTH SLIDER comes highly recommended and supposedly does things a little diff. from all the JQuery-based ones… or so I thought.

This is a simple theme … but obviously without thousands of installs, hence maybe adequate support and/or Q.C. … I have to figure that there’s a “conflict” between “the theme & this plugin” or this plugin and some other one or ??

I’m reasonably technical, but we’re talking, “The car won’t start” or something almost that elemental. I shouldn’t have to research this on StackOverflow … and I probably don’t. Maybe, someone out there can say, “Oh that again,” but why it isn’t high up in the FAQ beats the heck out of me.

trying to use this plug on a site running 3.7.25 , it shows poor coding:
if you put the div tag into the field where you retain html tags because they are important in the post the slider should show, the html structure of the page where the slider is shown gets mixed up.

if you put css rules into the field for custom styles everything, even the interface is influenced ….

had to get rid of the plug : it’s useless.Sorry.

Hi, I want to stop the sliders to loop back to the first post. So when it starts with the latest post, the user will be not able to click the previous button. It will be deactivated.

Hi, it’s a nice slider, but it only adds the image by default, rather than a link to the post. How can I make it link directly to the post, so I don’t have to manually add each post?

I’ve just discovered Smooth Slider, and I’ve been testing it a bit.
I think it’s great, but seems to have no compatibility with multilang sites suchs as made with WPML or PolyLang. Is that right?

I’ve tried to create a post slider, and posts are not translated when lang is switched, I mean that the slider is not picking the posts on the other language.

Is there any way of doing it?

Love your plugin!! The only problem I’m having is that the slideshow images don’t have alt tags. All of the images to have alt text. But when I look at the code for the slideshow I see alt=””. How can I get the alt text to appear in the slideshow code?

The problem I run into is when navigating away from the homepage then returning to it, the slider doesn’t show up unless the page is refreshed. This shouldn’t be happening…

How do I edit the CSS/style of the output. I can’t see anywhere to do that. There is just a default and sample option – how do I add my own?

The slider element sometimes changes to display:none, so the slider disappears.

At first I thought it was the ‘Multiple Slider Feature’ in Basic Settings, when I unchecked ‘Enable Multiple Slider Function on Edit Post/Page’, the element disappeared because the slider element was changed to display:none, when I checked it again, it became display:block, and was showing again.

But then it did it again, so it seems to be independent of that setting, but I can’t figure out why it’s happening, and it happens intermittently.

I’m running a (NSFW) advertising site, whereby all of those posts that qualify get a post in the slider. These posts should be limited to one per item and also have the main image added to an except.

I’ve been noticing for a few weeks now though, that when I click to add an item to the slider in the back end, ALL of the images are showing up, meaning that I have to go into the slider and delete the excess slides.

Is there a way to limit the slider to only using the first image of an advert?

My settings so far are (in the thumbnail image settings)
1) Use Custom Field Key
2) Use Featured post (thumbnail)
3) Consider images attached to the post (1 is selected)

However I just noticed that in the Slider Content section, there is a possible extra setting relating to this – Pick Content From – containing three fields – Slider Content Custom Field, Post Excerpt, and From Content.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Is there any way to leave the slider header or title name off? (or change it. It is too close to text.) I do no think that it is necessary for viewers. But sliders are identified through that name too.

I am using simple version of smooth in front page to show selection of content in my pages. I can not change the number of posts and slides (and some other things). I have now ten and I can not go higher. Program says “slider name should be selected”, it does not exist in settings panel.
