Hi Michael,
I am using your great plugin quite a bit now I would like to know if you are going to updated it to make compatible with BuddyPress 1.8.1.
I have just installed this new version but the site template is not working anymore.
Thank you very much if you could answer this.
Regards
Pat
I have been testing out this plugin, and when I update the template, my current test sites don’t update to the changes. Am I doing something wrong?
]]>This is a great plugin, I love it, however I did find that it doesn’t duplicate everything. Say I have Gravity Forms installed, when I duplicate a site, it doesn’t copy the tables GF creates. This happens for a number of plugins that create their own tables for a site.
What would be great to have is if the plugin could duplicate every table within a multisite that has the same site ID and put that in the new site. Would be a huge time saver! My only work around to this so far has been to export these missing tables and change the site ID’s so I can reimport these tables into the new site ??
Thanks for all the work on this awesome plugin, would love to see this feature added in the next release!
]]>Hi Michael,
Thanks for you plugin. I find it very helpful. There are a couple simple things that would make it even better. When I clone a site, only the default WordPress templates get copied. This is a problem because I need to copy other plugin’s tables too. Can you please add action hooks at various places throughout your plugin?
The end of st_wpmu_new_blog() could use one (don’t forget to pass $blog_id and $template), then I can hook and copy whatever tables I need.
Also a filter on the return of st_get_templates or maybe the $templates variable inside st_signup_blogform() would be awesome. This way I could custom show and hide templates at runtime.
Cheers,
Matt
hi!
I am using WP 3.3.1 and trying to use plugin Site template, but i just cant get it working. After I install plugin, i did like in instructions. I activated one page createt with multisite WP as Site template, but now comes the problem, WHERE and HOW can i assign this template to another pages which i have already created or they will be created in future.
I suggest maybe a video tutorial on youtube how to get this plugin working?
thank you for your answers!
]]>I’m looking to remove the Default site option of “Other”, as everyone making a site will be choosing a templated site. From what I see, the default site will always be there because it’s core WP, and I don’t mind it being in the Site Template options. So I just need to remove the radio button for it in the signup process (wp-signup.php) and default one of the other buttons as selected, so that there’s no chance of someone clicking Next without selecting a button (which would make a default site I believe).
Does anyone have an idea how to do this? I’ve managed to remove the label and the selection assignment, but a radio button still shows up below the templated sites on the “Create a Blog” form.
I’d be happy to commission this as a plugin customization or as an upgrade to be released. Anything that will let me hide the Default blog from being selected will work for my purposes.
]]>How shall I edit the wp-activate.php if I only have access to a WPMU backend and not to the server via FTP? And isn’t there any other possibility to use this plugin? It seems very, very helpfull but I can’t use it.
]]>Hi, my project is approaching completion so I’m getting ready to donate to all of the plugins in use, and Site Template is a fundamental one. @michael_porter, is there a donation link anywhere? Your effort on this completely deserves our gratitude and support, and I’m happy to pitch in a bit of my project budget for it ??
]]>Hello-
The basic templating seems to be working like a charm. The only issue I encountered is that I created a new site based on a template but the children number did not change in the network backend.
Thanks – let me know if I can help.

]]>This is potentially a very useful plugin, but its documentation is very sparse. It is unclear what has to be done, exactly where you have to go, and in what order you proceed. As is clear from the forums here, several users can’t find relevant settings pages and don’t know what to do.
I remember setting it up eight months ago on a multisite network and spending a lot of time on it; now I’m looking at it again and I have no idea where to go to find the settings, change profile, or add a new site using the profile.
]]>I used this plugin, but does not work very well for me.
I suggest modify plugin and create checkbox on backend where admin can select if import also user from site template or use new user from signup form because now the plugin overwrite profile of new user with user of site template selected on signup.php
Is it possible?
Anyone has suggestions how to modify the code?
]]>Hi there,
The Site Template plugin use to work and clone a template site whenever a new user registers and creates a site.
But after installing a “MultiDB” plugin that increases my db from 1 to 256, the plugin stopped copying content (posts, images, categories) to the newly created sites.
https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/multi-db
It would copy the options table and transfer the theme and 99% of settings but it does not copy the premade posts and images – overly frustrating.
Any help would be appreciated.
]]>First of all, thanks for the great plugin, it’s really helped me, just one more feature I’m interested in though.
Is it possible for a user (non super admin) to create a site choosing, for example, Template A, and then, after after creating the site change, to Template B via their WordPress dashboard/admin screen.
Naturally I would expect this to completely ‘reset’ the site and remove everything that choosing Template A put in place but that’s OK
Thanks
Nick
]]>This plugin in not working completely with 3.2.1. Am able to activate templates and then select them when creating new sites. Sites created from templates do copy:
Sites created from templates do NOT seem to copy:
Also confirmed that the site-template plugin does NOT work with the cets_blog_defaults plugin (which defines default settings for new sites). This is no surprize since both plugins attempt to do the same thing…
]]>Michael,
I’ve seen your updates saying that WP doesn’t let you add a link to templates on the Network Admin page… shame, but nothing you can do about that.
Is there a way to apply a template to a site after it has been created? This could be done destructively (for my own purposes) and would allow me to apply a template to a site that I, as the network admin, created.
Is that something that you would consider putting in?
Thanks,
Dan
]]>I used to be able to get the option to choose what template I want to use when I’m creating a site in 3.0.4 – but I just updated to the latest version (3.1.2) and the “Super Admin” section has been moved to a different location than before. Now all of that is under the “Network Admin” section.
Everything still seems to be working but when I got to the Network Admin section and choose to add a new site I don’t get the option to choose a template??
Is this plugin 3.1.2 ready? I’d love to continue using this plugin!
]]>Activating the site template plugin results in a malfunction in calls to switch_to_blog. The main site’s info is still being passed instead of the info for blog_id. Subsite listings often show up as the name and link of the primary/parent blog instead of children. For example, using Multisite User Management default site roles setting page displays all blogs with the same name, and using Diamond MultiSite Widgets bloglist widget causes the bloglist display on the site to say the main blog over and over (note that it displays normally on the backend).
]]>I tried it with my site. I created few pages on template. While creating new site selected the activated template, but on new blog, no page is created. so it doesn’t seem to be working as all the things claimed to be done by this plugin.
]]>There is no option to select the template when adding the site from the super admin section, but it does give an option when adding a blog as a user from the my sites section. The problem though is that it puts stuff all over the screen. Not sure how much is the plugin and how much is rendering issues with 3.1 That said, It would be nice to set this up for super admin so we don’t have allow normal users to register sites if we don’t want to!
]]>Hi Michael,
Excellent plugin, it really simplifies my administrative duties.
In my first run-through I noticed that the Links and Link Categories from my site template did not get copied over to the child site. Let me know if this is a known issue; if not, I can provide you with more details about my explicit setup to try to trace down the issue.
Thanks again! Cheers,

Hi there… I had used this plugin on an older site running 3.0.1 – I since created a new site and when I did I am now using 3.0.4 so I am not sure if that is what changed and seems to have broken the plugin.
I can install it just fine, but when I go to select a template during set up it either
1. Does not work when you select a template it just creates the default blog.. so I then realized that I forgot to change the first line in the wp-activate.php so that this define( “WP_INSTALLING”, true ); was commented out
2. When that line is commented out.. it will no longer create the site.. what happens is I go through the process, I get the activation email from wordpress so it looks like it was created but when you click on the link to verify and activate the new site.. it then just brings you back to the registration page telling you that it does not exist…
Any thoughts or suggestions here?
Thank you Very Much!!
Tom
hi michel, nice plugin you have!
i try it and found some question to ask:
1) it worked to me but it not take account of installed widgets and plugins options that seems very important
2) when a new user create a blog, i don’t understand what you request because the Blog Templaete (optional) selector doesn’t show any option->
Blog Template[Optional]: Select a template to apply: ??
What type of site are you creating? temp1, temp2
3) if create a site from user register method is ok, perhaps add a template selector to the admin create site page could be ussefull to.
any comment from you will be apreciated.
best regards, pescadito
]]>Hi Mike,
I have found your Plug-in is a grate solution for creating ePortfolios templates! I have installed your plug-in sitewide changed the Wp-activate.php but it didn’t work for me…
I use WP MS 3.0.1 with buddypress 2.6
I have created a template but wen I create a new blog it dosen’t add the contens (pages, menus, post, …)
It work with buddyPress?
You have any suggestion?
Thanks for advices
Semir
P.s. I have internationalized the “signup blog form”
are you interested to have the few changes in the code?
Once installed (the automatic way), I was unable to activate it. The following fatal error occurs:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_OBJECT_OPERATOR, expecting ‘,’ or ‘;’ in /home/formation-wordpress-02/public_html/wp-content/plugins/site-template/site-template.php on line 620
What’s wrong with the code?
]]>Hi,
Is it possible to use this plugin from site admin? As the admin of a blognetwork I like to choose a template for the new blog I create.
Thanks for the great plugin! Can it also replicate menu structures using the 2010 theme? I have a site where there are main menu items and sub menus. When I tried using the site template plugin, it turned all the sub menus into main menu items… just wondering if there is a way around this. Thanks.
