Hi there,
I’d like to be able to show just the Parent Category. Is there a way to do this without showing the child categories too?
Kind regards,
Craig
Hi,
I have tried adding the following as separators (removing the spaces obviously), but they don’t have any effect on the result. I got this info from the original post here.
& # 010; For Line Feed, or,
& # 013; For Carriage return
My shortcode:-
[show_post_categories show="category" hyperlink="no" separator="& # 013;"]
Any other ideas as to why this may not be working?
Hello!
Thanks for your awesome plugin which made my life so much easier!
I was wondering if there is a way to show most top located parent category name?
As current setting, I can only show parent category of the post but I would also want to show most top parent..
As for example, I have categories named,
Book
– kid book
— MY POST
– comic book
— MY POST
if my category was as above, it would only show MY POST’s parent category but I want the plugin to show “Book”.
Because I like to show my categories as
(most above category : post’s category)
Book : kid book
Movie : SF
I tried
Book : [show_post_categories show=”category” hyperlink=”yes” parent=”yes” parentcategory=”book”]
Movie : [show_post_categories show=”category” hyperlink=”yes” parent=”yes” parentcategory=”movie”]
but it does not allow two code to be used at same page.
Any help?
of could you help me what I should do to make this happen in includ>category.php?
Thank you
the category is not showing in clickable form. Rather it is only showing in plaine form. Please how can I go about this. Seams am getting the coding wrong. Thank you.
Hi there,
I’m working with custom post types and taxonomies (with Custom Post Type UI plugin). For my purpose I’ve created a custom post type with its category custom name (family) and 4 different custom tag groups.
I understood how to show the custom category and custom tag but I can’t show, or I don’t know how to show tags.
I think because the default wordpress structure for posts concern one kind of category and on kind of tag.
But in my case I have 4 different tag groups.
Do you think there is a way to adapt the plugin to show also them?
thank you
Paolo
Hi,
Could you please tell me if there is a way to order the categories when they are displayed? It looks like the default is child first, parent second. I would like to swap this so that the parent is shown first and the child is shown second.
I am currently using the following shortcode:
[show_post_categories parent=”yes” show=”category” hyperlink=”yes”]
Regards
Dave
Hi,
Thanks for your work.
I am trying to breaklines between list of categories.
I used, ‘
’ as seperator in Show Post Categories Settings, and hyperlink as ON.
However in my post page, first hyperling of category is shown as below example.
a href=”https://example.com/categoryname” target=”_self”>categoryname
‘<‘ is missing at front of first hyperlink.
Please help.
Thanks.
Hi,
As my title say. I want to show parents but hide children. Is this possible?
Hi! this plugin is amazing…
How can i add an author bio as a shortocode in my template?
Thank you so much
Love your plugin.
I’m also using Tag Groups.
Is there any way I can use the [show_post_categories show=”category”] shortcode and filter by Tag Group too?
For example, I have the following Category hierarchy:
Melanthaceae
-Chamaelirium
–Chamaelirium luteum
Where Melanthaceae is tag group “Family”, Chamaelirium is tag group “Genus”, Chamaelirium luteum is tag group “Species”.
A post may all three categories, but I want to be able to display the category if it belongs to tag group “Genus”.
e.g.
Genus: [show_post_categories show=”category” tag-groups=”Genus”]

any html i can show the category?
i want to add it in the .php
thanks
Plugin was working fine, showed the categories as expected with shortcode [show_post_categories show=”category” hyperlink=”yes”]
Since I have added translations with polylang, categories are not displayed anymore. It is replaced by the name of the language (Fran?ais) and a link that goes to the homepage.
Is this a known issue ? Any workaround ?
Hello,
i ask for your support for the following problem:
I have the Rocket Board template that comes with a portfolio and portfolio categories.
[show_post_categories show = “taxonomy”] shows correctly
Custom Taxonomy name for Category: portfolio-category.
The following syntax also works: [show_post_categories show = “category” taxonomy = “portfolio-category” parent = “yes” hyperlink = “yes”]. With and without the parameter “taxonomy = …” it works without problems.
However, if I add the attribute “parentcategory”, the plugin will not show anything on the portfolio page anymore. [show_post_categories show = “category” taxonomy = “portfolio-category” parentcategory = “tasks” parent = “no” hyperlink = “yes”]
The portfolio category is structured as follows:
tasks
– Controlling
– Purchase
– Finance and Law
….
business
– Construction
– Chemistry and raw materials
– Services
….
And 3 more categories consisting of main and sub categories.
versions:
PlugIn: 2.2.4
WordPress: 5.2.2
Rocket Board: 1.10
Each portfolio entry has its own mix of major and minor categories. However, I want to address in a row only one main category.
I would appreciate your support, thank you!
Hi, wonderfull plugin! There is a way to display also the category’s description? Thanks!
Hello,
I need your help! I created approx. 200 categories. Each category has one parent category. You can see these on my site: Business sector, services, product groups and special product groups (4 parent categories) And there are 20 posts.
I connected the categories to the suitable posts. I connected the child to one parent category.
Now I want to display only one of the four parent categories and its child categories. Not the other 3 parent categories and its child categories. The code…
[show_post_categories show=”category” parent=”no” parentcategory=”business-sector” id=”454]
is not correct.
Please help me.
Best regards
Jens
HI,
i’m going crazy to find out why i can set to display only one category and not others.
With this short code i can the the post’s category impiego
[show_post_categories show=”category” parentcategory=”impiego”]
But if i try to use this one i can’t see nothing
[show_post_categories show=category hyperlink=yes parentcategory=”materiale”]
Why it displays only one type of category?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I have been using your plugin for a while on my main site medi-paper.com. All is working well, and I love this app.
However, recently, I have changed to a WP network / multisite installation with subdomain. And although your plugin is working on medi-paper.com, I experience issues on the second site medinews.asia.
Here a screenshot for the settings on medi-paper.com: https://dl.medi-paper.com/1d73c69e980f
And this is what I have on medinews.asia: https://dl.medi-paper.com/f29f525ceba6
I am unable to save the settings on medinews.asia, and so tags are not separated by a separator, nor can I set the links behaviour well.
Is this an issue only on my installation, or a network site issue?
Thanks
After installing the plugin i tried to add the following shortcode to show all my categories on a static page: [show_post_categories show=”category”]
For some reason it still shows me this msg:
Show-Post-Categories : You forgot to set an attribute for the required action (=show)! Need help?
What to do now?
Thanks! ??

Hi there, love this plugin and I got the Category display to work, but can’t get the tag display to work. Using this shortcode [show_post_categories show=”tag”]. Nothing displays. However this is a Portfolio post which has it’s own set of tags separate from Post tags. Maybe this is the issue?
Please advise what may be the issue? I can’t provide a direct link to the site I’m working on because it’s under maintenance.

Wouldn’t my attribute be Podcast?

Hi
Is there no way to add a link on the author display?
I’m having luck with the shortcode displaying the correct categories but despite indicting “no” for displaying parent categories, the plugin is displaying them as well.
Work great with short code. But i want to add it diretly in php code to add code for all post
i dont want to add it one by one.
Hello,
I’ve installed your plugin and it works well for the tags of an item of Portfolio but it doesn’t show the categories.
Is there any way to solve this problem?
Thank you very much!
Hi Oliver!
Great plugin!
But when I use this shortcode: [show_post_categories show=”tag” hyperlink=”yes”] I only shows the first tag.
I’m using the plugin on a site running Divi-theme. WordPress, Divi and plugin are all the latest version.
Best wishes
